Slicing those equities into smaller, cheaper pieces that are more attractive to individual investors continues to prove a winning strategy. Numerous companies that have carried out splits have enjoyed notable gains.

Consider that Tesla's share price jumped by 80% during the three-week period between when it announced its last stock split and when it carried it out in August 2020. The electric vehicle leader's shares took a significant jump recently following news that it's planning another split.

While stock splits don't actually do anything to enhance a business's intrinsic value -- and shouldn't be the core reason for making an investment -- some industry-leading companies that are planning them will likely deliver stellar long-term performances. With that idea in mind, we asked a panel of Motley Fool contributors for their top stock-split stocks to buy this April. Their picks: Amazon, RH, and Alphabet.

This tech leader will keep dominating

Keith Noonan (Amazon): Amazon is on schedule to carry out a 20-for-1 stock split in June -- the e-commerce and cloud-computing giant's first split since 1999. With Amazon currently trading at roughly $3,089, this move will make its shares more attractive and accessible for retail investors, and could help power short-term gains. However, I think the tech giant's long-term growth potential is even more appealing.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) leads the cloud infrastructure market, and it's primed for impressive growth as more businesses carry out digital transformation initiatives and communication services increasingly rely on digital channels. Revenue from AWS soared 37% in 2021 to $62.2 billion, and the segment's operating income climbed 37% to $18.5 billion. The unit's strong earnings are giving Amazon more financial flexibility to make big investments in growing the entire business.

Amazon is making massive property and equipment purchases in order to strengthen its position in e-commerce. Outside of Alibaba in China, no player in the space even comes close to rivaling the scale and infrastructure advantages that Amazon has in the category. Its incredible reach and pricing power will continue to make it very difficult for rivals to challenge its position in the space.

What's more, the company's leading position in e-commerce has created growth opportunities in other categories with much higher margins. Because its marketplace is the go-to destination for online shopping, Amazon's platform is an incredibly valuable digital-advertising and data destination. The tech leader's core businesses are incredibly strong on their own, but they also act synergistically to strengthen other units, positioning Amazon fantastically to deliver long-term wins.

Discounted price for this luxury brand

Jason Hall (RH): RH is $one of the most interesting companies I follow. It's a wonderful retailer that focuses on well-off shoppers looking for high-quality furniture. And that business has been good. Over the past decade, RH's revenues have grown by 292%. And an increasing percentage of those sales are dropping down to the bottom line. Over the same period, RH has steadily improved both its gross margin and operating margin, with the latter coming in at a juicy 25% in 2021. Even more impressive, the company's cash margin came in at 14.9% last year.

RH Operating Margin (TTM) data by YCharts

Investors today can pick up shares of this luxury furniture retailer at a bargain-bin valuation. It's trading at just 14 times forward earnings, and at a price-to-earnings-growth (PEG) ratio below 1.

Why is RH stock so cheap now? In part, its share price reflects the market's worries that high inflation and slowing growth will take a bite out of its profits. In addition, though, it may be because CEO Gary Friedman isn't content to rest on his laurels. He has some very big plans for the company, both with an international expansion and a move into new categories, among them, operating luxury hotels and chartering private jets and yachts.

There's definitely risk with RH. These initiatives won't come cheap, and if they don't pan out, the company's impressive returns on capital will take a huge hit, as could the RH brand. But I think a lot of that risk is already priced into the stock, and in Friedman, RH has a proven, dedicated leader. And that would be the case with or without a stock split.

Alphabet has a competitive moat and is selling at a bargain price

Parkev Tatevosian (Alphabet): Alphabet has announced that it will undertake a 20-for-1 stock split on July 15. Investors looking for a monster stock that will be splitting can undoubtedly do worse than Alphabet. The company's Google search engine is arguably the most dominant service in existence, with a global market share of 85.5%.

The search engine is the core of a business that has grown its annual revenues from $46 billion in 2012 to $258 billion in 2021. Alphabet generates most of its revenue from advertisers looking to get the attention of browsers searching the internet, folks watching YouTube videos, and people using Gmail. And even though it has achieved a massive scale, it still has room to expand.

Globally, advertisers spent $763 billion in 2021 (not counting U.S. political ads), up by 22.5% from the year before. What's more, Alphabet is benefiting as a more significant share of that ad spending moves to digital channels. Marketers are showing a preference for digital advertising, primarily because of the measurement benefits. Trying to determine how many sales were driven by a billboard ad is significantly more challenging than tracking the results of ad spending on Google or YouTube. The trend is unlikely to reverse and could drive sales for Alphabet for many years.

Investors can buy shares of this fantastic business at a bargain valuation, too. Alphabet is trading at a price-to-earnings ratio of 24.4 and a price-to-free-cash-flow ratio of 27.7. Both are near the lower end of the average ranges it has sold for in the last decade. Alphabet is a monster stock-split stock investors can buy now for those reasons.

","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Beyond Tesla: 3 Monster Stock-Split Stocks to Buy in April
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nBeyond Tesla: 3 Monster Stock-Split Stocks to Buy in April\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2022-04-14 23:21 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Stock splits are all the rage lately, and it's not hard to see why.Sometimes, the shares of strong companies rise until they're trading at inconveniently high-dollar amounts for retail investors. ...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n","type":0,"thumbnail":"","relate_stocks":{"AMZN":"亚马逊","TSLA":"特斯拉","GOOG":"谷歌","BK4548":"巴美列捷福持仓","BK4555":"新能源车","BK4550":"红杉资本持仓","GOOGL":"谷歌A","BK4551":"寇图资本持仓","RH":"Restoration Hardware Holdings","BK4574":"无人驾驶"},"source_url":"https://www.fool.com/investing/2022/04/13/3-monster-stock-split-stocks-to-buy-in-april/","is_english":true,"share_image_url":"https://static.laohu8.com/e9f99090a1c2ed51c021029395664489","article_id":"2227618940","content_text":"Stock splits are all the rage lately, and it's not hard to see why.Sometimes, the shares of strong companies rise until they're trading at inconveniently high-dollar amounts for retail investors. The tech leader's core businesses are incredibly strong on their own, but they also act synergistically to strengthen other units, positioning Amazon fantastically to deliver long-term wins.Discounted price for this luxury brandJason Hall (RH): RH is $one of the most interesting companies I follow. Even more impressive, the company's cash margin came in at 14.9% last year.RH Operating Margin (TTM) data by YChartsInvestors today can pick up shares of this luxury furniture retailer at a bargain-bin valuation. It's trading at just 14 times forward earnings, and at a price-to-earnings-growth (PEG) ratio below 1.Why is RH stock so cheap now? And that would be the case with or without a stock split.Alphabet has a competitive moat and is selling at a bargain priceParkev Tatevosian (Alphabet): Alphabet has announced that it will undertake a 20-for-1 stock split on July 15. Investors looking for a monster stock that will be splitting can undoubtedly do worse than Alphabet. The company's Google search engine is arguably the most dominant service in existence, with a global market share of 85.5%.The search engine is the core of a business that has grown its annual revenues from $46 billion in 2012 to $258 billion in 2021. Alphabet generates most of its revenue from advertisers looking to get the attention of browsers searching the internet, folks watching YouTube videos, and people using Gmail. And even though it has achieved a massive scale, it still has room to expand.Globally, advertisers spent $763 billion in 2021 (not counting U.S. political ads), up by 22.5% from the year before. The trend is unlikely to reverse and could drive sales for Alphabet for many years.Investors can buy shares of this fantastic business at a bargain valuation, too. Alphabet is trading at a price-to-earnings ratio of 24.4 and a price-to-free-cash-flow ratio of 27.7. Both are near the lower end of the average ranges it has sold for in the last decade. Alphabet is a monster stock-split stock investors can buy now for those reasons.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":153,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9089323753,"gmtCreate":1649953719925,"gmtModify":1676534615388,"author":{"id":"4100143081992750","authorId":"4100143081992750","name":"fhho32","avatar":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/2e9d1fc00d659255c125be74d13236ea","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4100143081992750","authorIdStr":"4100143081992750"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Yes","listText":"Yes","text":"Yes","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9089323753","repostId":"1189220790","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":620,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9012918568,"gmtCreate":1649264654451,"gmtModify":1676534480837,"author":{"id":"4100143081992750","authorId":"4100143081992750","name":"fhho32","avatar":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/2e9d1fc00d659255c125be74d13236ea","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4100143081992750","authorIdStr":"4100143081992750"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Ok","listText":"Ok","text":"Ok","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9012918568","repostId":"1120731874","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":202,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9012918207,"gmtCreate":1649264624240,"gmtModify":1676534480836,"author":{"id":"4100143081992750","authorId":"4100143081992750","name":"fhho32","avatar":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/2e9d1fc00d659255c125be74d13236ea","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4100143081992750","authorIdStr":"4100143081992750"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Wow","listText":"Wow","text":"Wow","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9012918207","repostId":"1152483810","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1152483810","kind":"news","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Providing stock market headlines, business news, financials and earnings ","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Tiger Newspress","id":"1079075236","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8274c5b9d4c2852bfb1c4d6ce16c68ba"},"pubTimestamp":1649253676,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1152483810?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-04-06 22:01","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Mega-cap Growth Stocks Fell in Morning Trading","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1152483810","media":"Tiger Newspress","summary":"$Apple(AAPL)$, $Tesla(TSLA)$, $Amazon(AMZN)$, $Microsoft(MSFT)$, $AMD(AMD)$ and $Meta(CASH)$ Platforms dropped between 2% and 5%.","content":"

Apple, Tesla, Amazon, Microsoft, AMD and Meta Platforms dropped between 2% and 5%.

","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; But that’s old news, and the current environment is much more challenging. A point of differentiation for companies in 2022 will be the ability to keep profit margins intact or growing despite elevated inflation and slowing economic growth. Their stocks should outperform.

Companies can achieve pricing power in several different ways. A business can sell a good or service that’s vital to customers or limited in supply, giving them no option but to pay up—the product has low price elasticity, to put it in economic terms. That could be gasoline at the only station for miles, toilet paper at the grocery store, or accounting services during tax season.

The fewer direct competitors has a company has, the greater its ability to set prices. A strong brand that has particular affinity or loyalty from customers can also lead to greater pricing power. Think of the typically higher price per unit for Procter & Gamble’s (ticker: PG) Tide laundry detergent versus the equivalent store brand.

A company can also innovate and improve its offerings, increasing prices as it rolls out the upgraded offerings. If the price hikes exceed the cost of the improvements, that’s pricing power. It’s common in new versions of software, pharmaceuticals and medical devices, semiconductors, and other high tech goods and services.

Finally, companies can expand their profit margins by becoming more efficient and productive, or by leveraging economies of scale. That brings down the cost of goods sold per unit produced, and increases profits without raising prices.

Companies with pricing power are particularly attractive for the current environment, says Eric Schoenstein, chief investment officer of Jensen Investment Management.

Inflation is running at four-decade highs, affecting businesses’ input costs—investors will want to own those companies that can pass along that inflation. The new inflation dynamic comes just as economic expansion is waning, suggesting slower GDP growth ahead. Stocks of companies that can maintain and increase their profit margins in 2022 should be in demand.

“There are so many cost pressures out there these days,” says Schoenstein, whose Oregon-based firm manages about $14.5 billion. “We’re trying to find businesses that have resilience through those difficult circumstances. The ones that have already been tested and come out the other side should have the ability to do it again.”

Barron’s screened for S&P 500 companies that grew their gross margin (revenue minus the cost of goods sold, divided by revenue) from 2020 to 2021 as the economy rebounded, but also had rising, positive gross margins in at least the three years before the Covid-19 pandemic. Those that were best able to demonstrate pricing power in a 2% annual inflation environment should be better set up to do it when inflation is running above 7% too. The companies must also have been free cash flow positive in 2020 and 2021, demonstrating their businesses’ resilience through an economic downturn.

The screen yielded 27 names. As with any screen, it’s a blunt instrument that serves as a starting point for further analysis. Here is the list:

Companies With Pricing PowerSeveral major tech firms make the screen, including Microsoft, Nvidia , and Broadcom. So do healthcare firms like Merck, Zoetis , and Mettler-Toledo International . Their products and services tend to be differentiated from the competition, and rely on constant innovation and updates. Customers’ need or desire to have the latest software, semiconductors, treatments, or medical devices gives the companies pricing power and the ability to maintain profit margins even in an inflationary or decelerating-growth environment.

For McDonald’s (MCD) and Yum! Brands (YUM)—which owns KFC and Taco Bell—inflation is showing up in costs of labor, packaging, beef, and other inputs. The fast-food chains are raising prices to offset that on a market by market basis. But that’s old news, and the current environment is much more challenging. A point of differentiation for companies in 2022 will be the ability to keep profit margins intact or growing despite elevated inflation and slowing economic growth. Their stocks should outperform.Companies can achieve pricing power in several different ways. Think of the typically higher price per unit for Procter & Gamble’s (ticker: PG) Tide laundry detergent versus the equivalent store brand.A company can also innovate and improve its offerings, increasing prices as it rolls out the upgraded offerings. That brings down the cost of goods sold per unit produced, and increases profits without raising prices.Companies with pricing power are particularly attractive for the current environment, says Eric Schoenstein, chief investment officer of Jensen Investment Management.Inflation is running at four-decade highs, affecting businesses’ input costs—investors will want to own those companies that can pass along that inflation. The new inflation dynamic comes just as economic expansion is waning, suggesting slower GDP growth ahead. Stocks of companies that can maintain and increase their profit margins in 2022 should be in demand.“There are so many cost pressures out there these days,” says Schoenstein, whose Oregon-based firm manages about $14.5 billion. “We’re trying to find businesses that have resilience through those difficult circumstances. The ones that have already been tested and come out the other side should have the ability to do it again.”Barron’s screened for S&P 500 companies that grew their gross margin (revenue minus the cost of goods sold, divided by revenue) from 2020 to 2021 as the economy rebounded, but also had rising, positive gross margins in at least the three years before the Covid-19 pandemic. Here is the list:Companies With Pricing PowerSeveral major tech firms make the screen, including Microsoft, Nvidia , and Broadcom. McDonald’s overall prices rose by about 6% in the U.S. in 2021.“We are seeing both labor and commodity inflation,” said McDonald’s CFO Kevin Ozan at a conference in March. “Our prices are set by our franchisees …We generally will take smaller, more frequent increases than less frequent large increases. And we do try to tailor all of those increases to the local market.”Several S&P 500 industrials have been able to consistently increase their gross margins, including Rockwell Automation (ROK), General Electric (GE), and Lockheed Martin (LMT). They’re seeing higher expenses for transportation, labor, energy, semiconductors, and many raw materials like metals, resins, and industrial gases. The companies that pass the screen are employing a variety of strategies to keep their profit margins intact.Rockwell, which makes factory equipment, is increasing prices alongside its input costs. “We will introduce price increases with a strategy of offsetting what we see for cost increases,” said Nick Gangestad at a conference in March. “In the last six months, we’ve had several announced price increases.”Cintas, which provides uniform rentals, cleaning, and other office and facility services to businesses, says it is working to bring costs down via automation.“Pricing is a component of our strategy, but it is by no means the only strategy to combat inflation,” Cintas CEO Todd Schneider said on the company’s earnings call last month. “We’re taking other steps, and they almost all involve technology.”Some companies are raising prices to offset some of their higher costs, while pulling on other levers to maintain or grow profit margins. “One of the best ways to grow is, of course, innovation,” said GE CFO Carolina Dybeck Happe at the company’s March investor day. “Altogether, the work we’re doing across the company to improve volume and productivity more than offset the headwinds that you see from mix, from inflation, and that investment in growth.”","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":140,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9018761133,"gmtCreate":1649092035280,"gmtModify":1676534449156,"author":{"id":"4100143081992750","authorId":"4100143081992750","name":"fhho32","avatar":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/2e9d1fc00d659255c125be74d13236ea","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4100143081992750","authorIdStr":"4100143081992750"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Wooo","listText":"Wooo","text":"Wooo","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9018761133","repostId":"1166573354","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1166573354","kind":"news","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Providing stock market headlines, business news, financials and earnings ","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Tiger Newspress","id":"1079075236","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8274c5b9d4c2852bfb1c4d6ce16c68ba"},"pubTimestamp":1649067720,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1166573354?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-04-04 18:22","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Twitter Shares Soar More Than 25% after Elon Musk Takes 9% Stake in It","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1166573354","media":"Tiger Newspress","summary":"Twitter shares soar more than 25% after Elon Musk takes 9% stake in it.Musk owns 73,486,938 shares o","content":"

Twitter shares soar more than 25% after Elon Musk takes 9% stake in it.Musk owns 73,486,938 shares of Twitter, which represents a 9.2% stake in the company, according to the Securities and Exchange Commission filing.

The stake is worth more than $2.8 billion, based Twitter’s closing price on Friday.

Musk is a frequent user of Twitter and has more than 80 million followers on the platform. Fool","summary":"Cathie Wood was one of the hottest names on Wall Street throughout 2020 and much of 2021, thriving w","content":"

Cathie Wood was one of the hottest names on Wall Street throughout 2020 and much of 2021, thriving with her innovation-focused and high-growth approach to investing. However, the decline of growth and technology stocks over the past year has hit her funds just as hard.

The ARK Innovation ETF has now retreated to near its pre-COVID levels, wiping away most of the gains seen over the past two years. Despite the negative price action of the fund, there are stocks within it that have strong shots at outperforming the overall market moving forward. Here are three of those stocks to consider for your growth portfolio.

1. A metaverse platform

Roblox(RBLX7.05%)is a digital platform where users (typically 18 and under) can participate in games and experiences. It's an early example of the metaverse, where the online and physical worlds interact. The Roblox platform currently has 49.5 million daily active users.

The company's growth picked up during the height of the pandemic when people were at home more often and had more time to spend gaming. The company's revenue growth peaked at 140% year over year in the first quarter of 2021, and it has slowed in every quarter since then.

Revenue was still up 83% in the fourth quarter. However, bookings, which are sales on the platform that haven't yet been recognized as revenue (and which serve as a signal for how revenue growth is trending), grew just 20% year over year. This implies Roblox's revenue growth is quickly slowing.

The stock price has fallen to reflect this development with shares down roughly 50% since the beginning of the year. COVID-19 likely "pulled forward" growth from future quarters, but the long-term story of Roblox looks bright. The stock's decline could be an opportunity for patient investors who believe that growth will rebound over time.

2. A SaaS stock bargain

Twilio(TWLO6.24%)is a software platform that lets companies build custom applications to engage their customers. Have you ever visited a website and seen a little chat box pop up in the corner of the page? Twilio probably powers that feature. The business model is software as a service (SaaS), generating recurring revenue like a high-tech "utility" for investors.

The company has expanded at a steady rate -- revenue growth has averaged 59% annually since 2016. The top line was up 61% in 2021 to $2.8 billion, showing the business has maintained its trajectory despite having to grow from a larger base each year.

Twilio's customers tend to increase their spending with the company over time, and the business boasts an impressive net revenue retention rate (NRR) of 130%. Existing customers are also helping to drive Twilio's growth.

The stock, however, has been swept up in the broad-market tech and growth correction. Its price-to-sales ratio has fallen to just under 10, close to its lowest level since going public in 2016. If the company can keep up its track record of growing revenue between 40% and 60% per year, the stock's compressed valuation should set investors up for great long-term returns.

3. The king of audio content

Spotify Technologies(SPOT4.36%)is one of the leading audio platforms with roughly 406 million monthly active users (MAU) worldwide. Users can listen to millions of songs from virtually any artist as well as podcasts. Some famous figures, such as Joe Rogan, have exclusive deals with Spotify.

The company generates revenue from premium subscriptions and running ads to non-premium members. Spotify's 2021 revenue grew 23% year over year to 9.6 billion euros, an uptick after growing 16% in 2020.

The stock has succumbed to the market's sell-off despite this growth -- shares are down roughly 50% over the past year. The stock's P/S ratio has rebounded slightly to 2.5 after hitting an all-time low earlier this month. However, the company isn't profitable yet with a net loss of 34 million euros in 2021.

Spotify isfree-cash-flowpositive, though, generating 104 million euros in the fourth quarter, and it has roughly 3.6 billion euros in cash and short-term investments. Hence, the company has a ton of funding available for future growth efforts. Here are three of those stocks to consider for your growth portfolio.1. A metaverse platformRoblox(RBLX7.05%)is a digital platform where users (typically 18 and under) can participate in games and experiences. It's an early example of the metaverse, where the online and physical worlds interact. The Roblox platform currently has 49.5 million daily active users. The company's growth picked up during the height of the pandemic when people were at home more often and had more time to spend gaming. The company's revenue growth peaked at 140% year over year in the first quarter of 2021, and it has slowed in every quarter since then.Revenue was still up 83% in the fourth quarter. COVID-19 likely \"pulled forward\" growth from future quarters, but the long-term story of Roblox looks bright. The stock's decline could be an opportunity for patient investors who believe that growth will rebound over time.2. Because if one thing’s for sure, the Shanghai headquartered electric vehicle (EV) maker knows how to keep investors on their toes. Their shares rallied close to 3,000% in the months after the COVID pandemic started, with many analysts calling them the next Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA).

Comparisons like this are always going to be made with any up-and-coming EV company, but NIO stock’s seemingly unlimited resistance to gravity initially made it all the more pertinent. So too, it could be said, has the stock’s subsequent fall from the highs, and it will surely be nailed down once and for all if it can recover in the coming weeks. There’s plenty afoot with NIO that suggests its shares might be about to kick off a much-needed rally.

Mixed Earnings

Their Q4 earnings, released last night, gave investors and Wall Street a glimpse into the engine. Revenue for the quarter was ahead of analyst expectations and up 52% year on year, which helped to offset the slight miss on EPS. Delivery of vehicles for the fourth quarter of 2021 was up 44% compared to the same quarter the previous year, with total deliveries for 2021 up 109% compared to 2020. These are good numbers and suggest NIO’s revenue engine is building significant momentum. The timing is perfect too, with the effects of the Russian - Ukraine war on oil and gas prices causing many to think about switching permanently to an EV.

Initial indications in Friday’s pre-market session however suggested that there was some further room for shares to fall in the near term after the report. The earnings per share miss didn’t do them any favors, especially at a time when Chinese stocks are coming under intense scrutiny and investors aren’t as willing to overlook surprises to the downside. But for those of us on the sidelines, any further selling should be viewed as a potential buying opportunity.

It might require a tough stomach, but there are voices from the bull camp calling NIO shares a buy right now. Earlier this week, Morgan Stanley analyst Tim Hsiao reiterated his Buy rating, while trimming his price target from a stale $66 to $34. In a note to clients, Hsiao pointed out that NIO has “deep enough pockets to finance its growth ambitions with the net cash position at the end of 2021 set to cover more aggressive investments this year. Management also now expects net profit to reach break-even in Q4 of 2023, which could also help alleviate the pressure on investment cash outflow.”

The team over at Citi also took a relaxed view after Thursday’s earnings miss, saying on Friday morning that they were impressed with the strong vehicle margins that NIO delivered in Q4 even as prices for raw materials soared. Investors on the hunt for a bargain could do worse than take a look at NIO now, especially in light of the current downtrend shares find themselves in. The near-term headwinds are not to be ignored, but if you’re going to get involved in an EV stock, or any new frontier stock for that matter, you have to be forward-looking and focused on the long-term potential.

Earlier this week, Deutsche Bank reiterated their Buy rating on NIO, noting that “the tide seems to be finally turning for the Chinese EV stock”. Because if one thing’s for sure, the Shanghai headquartered electric vehicle (EV) maker knows how to keep investors on their toes. Their shares rallied close to 3,000% in the months after the COVID pandemic started, with many analysts calling them the next Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA).Comparisons like this are always going to be made with any up-and-coming EV company, but NIO stock’s seemingly unlimited resistance to gravity initially made it all the more pertinent. So too, it could be said, has the stock’s subsequent fall from the highs, and it will surely be nailed down once and for all if it can recover in the coming weeks. There’s plenty afoot with NIO that suggests its shares might be about to kick off a much-needed rally.Mixed EarningsTheir Q4 earnings, released last night, gave investors and Wall Street a glimpse into the engine. The timing is perfect too, with the effects of the Russian - Ukraine war on oil and gas prices causing many to think about switching permanently to an EV.Initial indications in Friday’s pre-market session however suggested that there was some further room for shares to fall in the near term after the report. The earnings per share miss didn’t do them any favors, especially at a time when Chinese stocks are coming under intense scrutiny and investors aren’t as willing to overlook surprises to the downside. Management’s forward guidance for the first quarter of 2022 was also a little soft compared to the consensus.

Slicing those equities into smaller, cheaper pieces that are more attractive to individual investors continues to prove a winning strategy. Numerous companies that have carried out splits have enjoyed notable gains.Consider that Tesla's share price jumped by 80% during the three-week period between when it announced its last stock split and when it carried it out in August 2020. Their picks: Amazon, RH, and Alphabet.Image source: Getty Images. This tech leader will keep dominatingKeith Noonan (Amazon): Amazon is on schedule to carry out a 20-for-1 stock split in June -- the e-commerce and cloud-computing giant's first split since 1999. With Amazon currently trading at roughly $3,089, this move will make its shares more attractive and accessible for retail investors, and could help power short-term gains. However, I think the tech giant's long-term growth potential is even more appealing.Amazon Web Services (AWS) leads the cloud infrastructure market, and it's primed for impressive growth as more businesses carry out digital transformation initiatives and communication services increasingly rely on digital channels. Revenue from AWS soared 37% in 2021 to $62.2 billion, and the segment's operating income climbed 37% to $18.5 billion. The unit's strong earnings are giving Amazon more financial flexibility to make big investments in growing the entire business.Amazon is making massive property and equipment purchases in order to strengthen its position in e-commerce. The tech leader's core businesses are incredibly strong on their own, but they also act synergistically to strengthen other units, positioning Amazon fantastically to deliver long-term wins.Discounted price for this luxury brandJason Hall (RH): RH is $one of the most interesting companies I follow.
