Republicans failed to gain a Senate majority, came up short in their efforts to fill several statewide seats, and have yet to secure a House majority, with only 215 races called in their favor so far out of the 218 needed, developments that have forced Trump and other party leaders into a defensive posture as they face reproval from within their ranks.

But Trump is also betting that his first-out-of-the gate strategy will fend off potential primary rivals and give him an early advantage with deep-pocketed donors, aides say. He is widely expected to be challenged by both conservative and moderate Republicans, though the calculus of some presidential hopefuls could change now that he is running. Others ā like his former Vice President, Mike Pence ā may proceed anyway.

Trumpās third presidential bid also coincides with a period of heightened legal peril as Justice Department officials investigating him and his associates revisit the prospect of indictments in their Trump-related probes. The former president is currently being investigated for his activities before and during the January 6, 2021, attack on the US Capitol and his retention of classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago estate after he left office. While Trump is counting on an easy path to the GOP nomination with his sustained support among the partyās base, his announcement is likely to dash the hopes of party leaders who have longed for fresh talent. In particular, top Republicans have been paying close attention to the next moves of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who won his reelection contest with a 19-point margin of victory and considerable support from minority and independent voters. Some Republican leaders may try to scuttle Trumpās campaign by elevating or encouraging alternative candidates, including DeSantis, who has been quietly laying the groundwork for a possible White House bid of his own.

Of course, any countereffort to inhibit Trumpās path to the nomination is likely to prove difficult. Despite his myriad legal entanglements and the stain of January 6, the twice-impeached 45th president remains immensely popular among most Republican voters and boasts a deep connection with his core backers that could prove difficult for other GOP hopefuls to replicate or weaken. Even leading conservatives who disliked Trumpās pugnacious politics and heterodox policies stuck with him as president because he helped solidify the rightward shift of the US Supreme Court with his nominations ā one of the most far-reaching aspects of his legacy, which resulted in the conservative court majorityās deeply polarizing June decision to end federal abortion rights. In fact, while Trump ended his first term with the lowest approval rating of any president, about 8 in 10

Republicans viewed him favorably, according to a May NBC News poll. That alone could give Trump a significant edge over primary opponents whom voters are still familiarizing themselves with.

Among those potential competitors is Pence, who would likely benefit from high name recognition due to his role as vice president. Pence, who has been preparing for a possible White House run in 2024, is sure to face an uphill battle courting Trumpās most loyal supporters, many of whom soured on the former vice president after he declined to overstep his congressional authority and block certification of now-President Joe Bidenās 2020 victory. Trump could also find himself pitted against DeSantis, who has risen to hero status among cultural conservatives and who is widely considered a more polished version of Trump. Even some of the former presidentās advisers have voiced similar observations to CNN, noting that DeSantis also made inroads with major Republican donors during his quest for reelection and built a mountain of goodwill with GOP leaders by campaigning for federal and statewide Republican candidates in the middle of his own race.

Beyond his potential rivals, Trump has another roadblock in his path as the House select committee continues to investigate his role in January 6, 2021, and Justice Department officials weigh whether to issue criminal charges. The committee, which subpoenaed him for testimony and documents in October and which Trump is now battling in court, held public hearings throughout the summer and early fall featuring depositions from those in Trumpās inner circle at the White House ā including members of his family ā that detailed his public and private efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election results through a sustained pressure campaign on numerous local, state and federal officials, and on his own vice president.

But Trumpās desire to announce his campaign early can be especially traced to the FBI search of Mar-a-Lago, which advisers say further emboldened his decision to mount what he believes will be a triumphant political comeback. The day after the search, the former president fielded calls from allies advising him to accelerate his 2024 timeline. That night, he huddled with House lawmakers in the Republican Study Committee and told them heād āmade up his mindā about launching a bid, though some of those same House Republicans later convinced him to wait until after the midterm elections to announce his next move.

Preparing for 2024

From the moment Trump left Washington, defeated and disgraced, in January 2021, he began plotting a return to power ā devoting the bulk of his time to building a political operation intended for this moment. With assistance from numerous former aides and advisers, he continued the aggressive fundraising tactics that had become a marker of his 2020 campaign, amassing a colossal war chest ahead of the 2022 midterm elections, and worked diligently to elect steadfast allies in both Congress and state legislatures across the country.

While maintaining a home base in Florida, he also regularly jet-setted across the country for campaign rallies that afforded him crucial face time with his base and with candidates he bet would become valuable allies in the US Senate and House.

Through it all, Trump continued to falsely insist that the 2020 election was stolen from him, indulging in far-flung conspiracy theories about voter fraud and pressuring Republican leaders across the partyās election apparatus to endorse changes that would curtail voting rights.

Trumpās aides were pleased earlier this fall when his public appearances and rally speeches gradually became more focused on rising crime, immigration and economic woes ā key themes throughout the midterm cycle and issues they hope will enable him to draw a compelling contrast with Biden as he begins this next chapter. Allies of the former president have long said that he views the 2024 contest as an opportunity to regain what he believes is his: another four years in the Oval Office.

But there is no guarantee that Trump will glide easily to a nonconsecutive second term. In fact, it could be quite difficult.

Not only does history offer just one example of such a feat (defeated in 1888 after his first term, President Grover Cleveland was elected again in 1892), no previously impeached president has ever run again for office. Trump was first impeached in 2019 on charges of abuse of power and obstruction of justice, and then again in 2021 for inciting the riot at the US Capitol. Though he was acquitted by the Senate both times, 10 House Republicans broke with their party the second time around to join Democrats in a vote to impeach him. Seven Republican senators voted to convict him at his Senate trial.

Trump has also been the subject of a bevy of lawsuits and investigations, including a New York state investigation and a separate Manhattan district attorney criminal probe into his companyās finances, a Georgia county probe into his efforts to overturn Bidenās election win in the state, and separate Justice Department probes into his campaignās scheme to put forth fake electors in battleground states and his decision to bring classified materials with him to Mar-a-Lago upon leaving office.

Trumpās actions since he left Washington have, for the most part, signaled his interest in an eventual return. While most former presidents go quietly into retirement ā resurfacing to assist their parties during midterm cycles or for the opening of their presidential libraries ā Trump bucked tradition to instead plot the comeback he now hopes to make. Despite its distance from Washington, Trumpās Mar-a-Lago club has transformed into a new hub for Republicans and a home base for his political machine. Assisted by a small group of paid staffers, he has hosted numerous candidate and committee fundraisers and seen a rotating cast of party leaders and congressional hopefuls filter through its gilded hallways in the hopes of nabbing his endorsement or reingratiating themselves with his base. Trumpās schedule has enabled him to build close relationships with party leaders and fringe figures ā from House GOP leader Kevin McCarthy of California to Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia ā whose support in a contested primary could ultimately help him clear the field. Many of the aides who have been with him since he left the White House are expected to continue on as campaign hands, as the former president and his de facto chief of staff, longtime Florida GOP strategist Susie Wiles, aim to maintain a lean operation much like the early days of his 2016 presidential campaign. Among those who are likely to be involved are Wiles, Taylor Budowich, Chris LaCivita, Steven Cheung, Justin Caperole, Brian Jack and Brad Parscale, who managed part of his failed 2020 campaign. Notably, Trumpās son-in-law Jared Kushner, who was deeply involved in his quest for reelection, is widely expected not to be involved this time around.

Time in office

As president, Trump faced criticism over several of his actions, especially his management of the worst public health crisis in nearly a century ā the Covid-19 pandemic ā though his administration helped facilitate the development of vaccines to treat the novel coronavirus in record time. He also was blasted by critics over his handling of Hurricane Maria, which devastated Puerto Rico in 2017; the White nationalist rally, also in 2017, in Charlottesville, Virginia, where Heather Heyer was killed while walking with a group of counterprotesters; and Black Lives Matter protests.

While in office, Trump signed sweeping tax cuts into law, enacted controversial hard-line immigration policies, including a policy that separated migrant children from their families and one known as āRemain in Mexico,ā which the US Supreme Court ruled in June could be ended by his successor, and appointed hundreds of federal judges with deep conservative credentials. He also successfully nominated three Supreme Court justices, whose decisions this year as part of the courtās majority have shifted American society and laws rightward on issues such as abortion, guns, religious freedom and climate change.

The former real estate businessman and reality TV star was first elected to office in 2016, beating out a wide field of more than a dozen GOP candidates in an ugly primary, and then prevailing over former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in a contentious general election, despite sexual misconduct allegations that would have typically been campaign-ending.

As president, Trump was an impulsive leader, who dispensed with long-standing norms, often announcing policy and Cabinet personnel changes on Twitter. (He was ultimately banned from the platform following the US Capitol riot and was later barred from Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube as well.)

He pushed an āAmerica Firstā foreign policy approach, pulling the US out of international agreements such as the Paris climate accord and the Iran nuclear deal, a pair of controversial moves that were decried by many of Americaās top European allies.

","source":"cnn_highlight","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; That night, he huddled with House lawmakers in the Republican Study Committee and told them heād āmade up his mindā about launching a bid, though some of those same House Republicans later convinced him to wait until after the midterm elections to announce his next move.Preparing for 2024From the moment Trump left Washington, defeated and disgraced, in January 2021, he began plotting a return to power ā devoting the bulk of his time to building a political operation intended for this moment. While maintaining a home base in Florida, he also regularly jet-setted across the country for campaign rallies that afforded him crucial face time with his base and with candidates he bet would become valuable allies in the US Senate and House.Through it all, Trump continued to falsely insist that the 2020 election was stolen from him, indulging in far-flung conspiracy theories about voter fraud and pressuring Republican leaders across the partyās election apparatus to endorse changes that would curtail voting rights.Trumpās aides were pleased earlier this fall when his public appearances and rally speeches gradually became more focused on rising crime, immigration and economic woes ā key themes throughout the midterm cycle and issues they hope will enable him to draw a compelling contrast with Biden as he begins this next chapter. Seven Republican senators voted to convict him at his Senate trial.Trump has also been the subject of a bevy of lawsuits and investigations, including a New York state investigation and a separate Manhattan district attorney criminal probe into his companyās finances, a Georgia county probe into his efforts to overturn Bidenās election win in the state, and separate Justice Department probes into his campaignās scheme to put forth fake electors in battleground states and his decision to bring classified materials with him to Mar-a-Lago upon leaving office.Trumpās actions since he left Washington have, for the most part, signaled his interest in an eventual return. Notably, Trumpās son-in-law Jared Kushner, who was deeply involved in his quest for reelection, is widely expected not to be involved this time around.Time in officeAs president, Trump faced criticism over several of his actions, especially his management of the worst public health crisis in nearly a century ā the Covid-19 pandemic ā though his administration helped facilitate the development of vaccines to treat the novel coronavirus in record time. The former real estate businessman and reality TV star was first elected to office in 2016, beating out a wide field of more than a dozen GOP candidates in an ugly primary, and then prevailing over former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in a contentious general election, despite sexual misconduct allegations that would have typically been campaign-ending.As president, Trump was an impulsive leader, who dispensed with long-standing norms, often announcing policy and Cabinet personnel changes on Twitter. (He was ultimately banned from the platform following the US Capitol riot and was later barred from Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube as well.)He pushed an āAmerica Firstā foreign policy approach, pulling the US out of international agreements such as the Paris climate accord and the Iran nuclear deal, a pair of controversial moves that were decried by many of Americaās top European allies.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":804,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9982132008,"gmtCreate":1667110201704,"gmtModify":1676537862846,"author":{"id":"4100579485105550","authorId":"4100579485105550","name":"stsockli","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/73ce4d0a742e9a3ecb6f752ba879b550","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"4100579485105550","idStr":"4100579485105550"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"75 basis points hike is my guess cos inflation still red hot high.","listText":"75 basis points hike is my guess cos inflation still red hot high.","text":"75 basis points hike is my guess cos inflation still red hot high.","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9982132008","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":609,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[{"author":{"id":"4096368443831390","authorId":"4096368443831390","name":"b1uesky","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/87ef9b02e19a8acfaa7ae5b147b70882","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"authorIdStr":"4096368443831390","idStr":"4096368443831390"},"content":"if you want to get coins for redemption, I think your post on the topic u need to have 50 words. Brin and Musk, among the nation's most famous entrepreneurs, were longtime friends. Mr. Musk has said that for years he regularly crashed at Mr. Brin's house in Silicon Valley. \n
\n
\n Mr. Brin provided Mr. Musk with about $500,000 for Tesla during the 2008 financial crisis, when the company was struggling to increase production. In 2015, Mr. Musk gave Mr. Brin one of Tesla's first all-electric sport-utility vehicles. \n
\n
\n In recent months, there has been growing tension between the two men and their teams, according to the people familiar with the matter. Mr. Brin has ordered his financial advisers to sell his personal investments in Mr. Musk's companies, some of those people said. It couldn't be learned how large those investments are, or whether there have been any sales. \n
\n
\n Mr. Brin filed for divorce from Nicole Shanahan in January of this year, citing \"irreconcilable differences,\" according to records filed in Santa Clara County Superior Court. The divorce filing was made several weeks after Mr. Brin learned of the brief affair, those people said. \n
\n
\n At the time of the alleged liaison in early December, Mr. Brin and his wife were separated but still living together, according to a person close to Ms. Shanahan. In the divorce filing, Mr. Brin cited Dec. 15, 2021, as the date of the couple's separation. \n
\n
\n A lawyer for Mr. Brin declined to comment. Mr. Musk didn't respond to a request for comment. A spokeswoman for Ms. Shanahan, who runs a foundation focused on reproductive justice, also didn't respond to requests for comment. \n
\n
\n About 11 hours after this article published online, Mr. Musk tweeted: \"This is total bs. Sergey and I are friends and were at a party together last night!\" He added that he'd only seen Ms. Shanahan twice in three years with other people around and that it wasn't romantic. \n
\n
\n In an interview early this month with the news website Puck, Ms. Shanahan said of the divorce filing: \"I hope for Sergey and I to move forward with dignity, honesty and harmony for the sake of our child. And we are both working towards that.\" \n
\n
\n Over the past two months, Mr. Musk's personal life has drawn considerable attention. He has been accused of exposing himself to a flight attendant at his aerospace company, SpaceX, which he has denied; the publication Business Insider reported he had two children late last year with a female executive at another company he co-founded, Neuralink; and one of his 10 children has publicly disavowed him. \n
\n
\n Earlier this month, Mr. Musk sought to back out of an agreement to buy Twitter, saying the company hasn't provided the necessary information to assess the prevalence of fake or spam accounts. Twitter said it has \"bent over backwards\" to provide the information. It has sued Mr. Musk to force him to honor the deal, and a Delaware court has agreed to an expedited trial in October. \n
\n
\n Mr. Brin and Ms. Shanahan, his wife of nearly four years, met at the yoga retreat Wanderlust about seven years ago, according to a person familiar with their relationship. Both had been married previously: Mr. Brin to Anne Wojcicki, co-founder of genetics company 23andMe Inc., and Ms. Shanahan to a finance executive. Mr. Brin has two children with Ms. Wojcicki. \n
\n
\n Mr. Brin and Ms. Shanahan already were facing problems in their marriage in the fall of 2021, primarily because of Covid pandemic shutdowns and the care of their 3-year-old daughter, according to people familiar with their relationship. \n
\n
\n The liaison with Mr. Musk took place in early December 2021, at the Art Basel event in Miami, those people said. Art Basel is a multiday, annual festival that draws wealthy attendees from around the world. \n
\n
\n At a party earlier this year, Mr. Musk dropped to one knee in front of Mr. Brin and apologized profusely for the transgression, begging for forgiveness, according to people with knowledge of the incident. \n
\n
\n Mr. Brin acknowledged the apology, but still isn't speaking regularly to Mr. Musk, those people said. \n
\n
\n The alleged liaison happened after Mr. Musk had broken up with his on-again, off-again girlfriend, the singer Grimes, in September. Mr. Musk and Grimes, whose real name is Claire Boucher, had a second child, a daughter, via surrogate in December 2021. Mr. Musk's twins with Shivon Zilis, the executive at Neuralink, also were born last fall. \n
\n
\n Mr. Brin and Ms. Shanahan are now involved in divorce mediation, with Ms. Shanahan seeking more than $1 billion, according to people familiar with the negotiations. \n
\n
\n The two sides have yet to come to an agreement, with Mr. Brin's side claiming that Ms. Shanahan is asking for much more than her prenuptial agreement entitles her to, the people said. Ms. Shanahan's side is arguing that her request is only a fraction of Mr. Brin's $95 billion fortune, and that she signed the prenuptial agreement under duress, while pregnant, the people said. \n
\n
\n Mr. Brin co-founded Google, now a unit of Alphabet Inc., along with Larry Page in 1998, and helped build it into one of the world's most valuable companies. He and Mr. Page stepped down from management of Alphabet in 2019, but both remain on the board. \n
\n
\n Since then, he has been heavily involved in fitness pursuits, at one point trying to learn many different Olympic sports, according to people who know him. Brin and Musk, among the nation's most famous entrepreneurs, were longtime friends. Mr. Musk has said that for years he regularly crashed at Mr. Brin's house in Silicon Valley. \n\n\n Mr. Brin provided Mr. Musk with about $500,000 for Tesla during the 2008 financial crisis, when the company was struggling to increase production. In 2015, Mr. Musk gave Mr. Brin one of Tesla's first all-electric sport-utility vehicles. \n\n\n In recent months, there has been growing tension between the two men and their teams, according to the people familiar with the matter. Mr. Brin has ordered his financial advisers to sell his personal investments in Mr. Musk's companies, some of those people said. It couldn't be learned how large those investments are, or whether there have been any sales. \n\n\n Mr. Brin filed for divorce from Nicole Shanahan in January of this year, citing \"irreconcilable differences,\" according to records filed in Santa Clara County Superior Court. The divorce filing was made several weeks after Mr. Brin learned of the brief affair, those people said. \n\n\n At the time of the alleged liaison in early December, Mr. Brin and his wife were separated but still living together, according to a person close to Ms. Shanahan. In the divorce filing, Mr. Brin cited Dec. 15, 2021, as the date of the couple's separation. \n\n\n A lawyer for Mr. Brin declined to comment. Mr. Musk didn't respond to a request for comment. A spokeswoman for Ms. Shanahan, who runs a foundation focused on reproductive justice, also didn't respond to requests for comment. \n\n\n About 11 hours after this article published online, Mr. Musk tweeted: \"This is total bs. Sergey and I are friends and were at a party together last night!\" He added that he'd only seen Ms. Shanahan twice in three years with other people around and that it wasn't romantic. \n\n\n In an interview early this month with the news website Puck, Ms. Shanahan said of the divorce filing: \"I hope for Sergey and I to move forward with dignity, honesty and harmony for the sake of our child. And we are both working towards that.\" \n\n\n Over the past two months, Mr. \n\n\n Earlier this month, Mr. \n\n\n Mr. Wojcicki. \n\n\n Mr. Brin and Ms. Shanahan already were facing problems in their marriage in the fall of 2021, primarily because of Covid pandemic shutdowns and the care of their 3-year-old daughter, according to people familiar with their relationship. \n\n\n The liaison with Mr. Musk took place in early December 2021, at the Art Basel event in Miami, those people said. Art Basel is a multiday, annual festival that draws wealthy attendees from around the world. \n\n\n At a party earlier this year, Mr. Musk dropped to one knee in front of Mr. Brin and apologized profusely for the transgression, begging for forgiveness, according to people with knowledge of the incident. \n\n\n Mr. Brin acknowledged the apology, but still isn't speaking regularly to Mr. Musk, those people said. \n\n\n The alleged liaison happened after Mr. \n\n\n Mr. Brin and Ms. Shanahan are now involved in divorce mediation, with Ms. Shanahan seeking more than $1 billion, according to people familiar with the negotiations. \n\n\n The two sides have yet to come to an agreement, with Mr. \n\n\n Mr. Brin co-founded Google, now a unit of Alphabet Inc., along with Larry Page in 1998, and helped build it into one of the world's most valuable companies. He and Mr. Page stepped down from management of Alphabet in 2019, but both remain on the board. \n\n\n Since then, he has been heavily involved in fitness pursuits, at one point trying to learn many different Olympic sports, according to people who know him. He runs a $4.4 billion family foundation that has supported such causes as education and Parkinson's research, and he is affiliated with an airship startup called LTA Research and Exploration. He is currently writing a physics textbook. \n\n\n --Jim Oberman, Rebecca Elliott and Tim Higgins contributed to this article. \n\n\n Write to Kirsten Grind at kirsten.grind@wsj.com and Emily Glazer at emily.glazer@wsj.com \n\n\n \n\n\n$(END)$ Dow Jones Newswires\n\n\n July 25, 2022 00:30 ET (04:30 GMT)\n\n\n Copyright (c) 2022 Dow Jones & Company, Inc.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":376,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9900356393,"gmtCreate":1658645746412,"gmtModify":1676536187123,"author":{"id":"4100579485105550","authorId":"4100579485105550","name":"stsockli","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/73ce4d0a742e9a3ecb6f752ba879b550","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"4100579485105550","idStr":"4100579485105550"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$SATS LTD.(S58.SI)$good time to buy?","listText":"$SATS LTD.(S58.SI)$good time to buy?","text":"$SATS LTD.(S58.SI)$good time to buy?","images":[{"img":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/326a62012a77dd14a735f3ae2aef8c8a","width":"1440","height":"2739"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9900356393","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":280,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"hots":[{"id":9040947789,"gmtCreate":1655605300241,"gmtModify":1676535669608,"author":{"id":"4100579485105550","authorId":"4100579485105550","name":"stsockli","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/73ce4d0a742e9a3ecb6f752ba879b550","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4100579485105550","authorIdStr":"4100579485105550"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$QANTAS AIRWAYS LIMITED(QAN.AU)$is it a buy at this moment?","listText":"$QANTAS AIRWAYS LIMITED(QAN.AU)$is it a buy at this moment?","text":"$QANTAS AIRWAYS LIMITED(QAN.AU)$is it a buy at this moment?","images":[{"img":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/76fa424e08debe0d302333dfd30b2a9c","width":"1440","height":"3809"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":23,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9040947789","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":446,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9982132008,"gmtCreate":1667110201704,"gmtModify":1676537862846,"author":{"id":"4100579485105550","authorId":"4100579485105550","name":"stsockli","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/73ce4d0a742e9a3ecb6f752ba879b550","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4100579485105550","authorIdStr":"4100579485105550"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"75 basis points hike is my guess cos inflation still red hot high.","listText":"75 basis points hike is my guess cos inflation still red hot high.","text":"75 basis points hike is my guess cos inflation still red hot high.","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9982132008","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":609,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[{"author":{"id":"4096368443831390","authorId":"4096368443831390","name":"b1uesky","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/87ef9b02e19a8acfaa7ae5b147b70882","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"idStr":"4096368443831390","authorIdStr":"4096368443831390"},"content":"if you want to get coins for redemption, I think your post on the topic u need to have 50 words.

After more than two years of pandemic-fueled spending on work-from-home equipment, the consumer is getting tapped out on desktop and laptop computers. AMD said it will miss its sales guidance for the third quarter of 2022 in dramatic fashion as a result.

Shares of AMD are in retreat on the news, but not all is hopeless. Think twice before you sell AMD stock now.

AMD's growth is slowing this year

AMD said that its Q3 2022 revenue will be about $5.6 billion, a 29% year-over-year increase but a 15% decrease compared to Q2. Management had previously forecasted $6.7 billion in sales for Q3 back in August.

The company's data center segment is still sizzling, albeit at a slower pace than before (the segment was up 83% year-over-year in Q2.) But rapidly evaporating PC demand was the culprit for the big miss. Subsequent to the last quarterly report, management said PC sales have fallen, and now the industry is taking "inventory correction actions," meaning heavy discounting to move inventory surplus.

It's a good time to be in the market for a new computer, but for AMD, PC revenue is expected to be down 40% year-over-year in Q3.

AMD Segments

Q3 2022 Preliminary Revenue

YoY Growth

Data Center

$1.6 billion

Up 45%

Client

$1.0 billion

Down 40%

Gaming

$1.6 billion

Up 14%

Embedded (Xilinx Acquisition in February)

$1.3 billion

N/A

Total

$5.6 billion

Up 29%

Data source: AMD.

In addition to sharply lower sales (offset by the addition of Xilinx, which now makes up the bulk of the "embedded" segment), AMD also said adjusted gross margins on product sold will also be lower at just 50%. That still represents a jump from the 48% adjusted gross margin from the same quarter in 2021, but it's nonetheless far lower than the 54% originally projected a couple of months ago.

The market knew this was coming

Before you sell AMD stock, bear in mind this isn't exactly earth-shattering news. Later in August, Nvidia provided a bleak picture of consumer-facing product sales. And in early October, Micron Technology gave the most concrete warning yet when it said PC unit sales are now expected to decline by a mid-teens percentage for full-year 2022. Clearly, the industry has deteriorated since AMD's rosy outlook from the summer.

Investors were not caught unawares. AMD stock has been dinged by over 30% since its Aug. 2 Q2 report. Sure, the stock market overall had a rough go of things, but the Nasdaq Composite Index is only down about 10% over that period.

In other words, now probably isn't the time to panic sell. The market has already discounted the likelihood AMD would miss its guidance.

The best thing to do is reassess the long-term prospects for this business. AMD is still firing away in its data center business and is getting a positive lift from its acquisition of highly profitable Xilinx early this year. And with Intel signaling it still has a long uphill battle ahead in its own recovery, AMD can continue to win semiconductor design market share in the coming years. Though there are stormy seas ahead for the chip industry overall -- especially with consumer electronics oversupply -- this is still very much a healthy place to be invested in the tech sector with lots of secular tailwinds blowing in its favor.

Investors should stay tuned for the company to provide a full quarterly update on Nov. 1.

","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
AMD Misses Sales Estimates By a Mile -- Time to Sell the Stock?
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nAMD Misses Sales Estimates By a Mile -- Time to Sell the Stock?\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2022-10-08 08:09 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
AMD is the latest semiconductor company to report trouble with the PC (personal computer) market. My three stocks to avoid last week were on the move -- as AMC Entertainment (NYSE:AMC), GameStop (NYSE:GME)Ā and Robinhood Markets (NASDAQ:HOOD)Ā were down 2%, 5%, and 6%, respectively -- averaging out to a 4.3% decline.

The S&P 500 rose 0.9% for the week, so I was the relative winner with my bearish calls for the eleventh week in a row. This week, I see Constellation Brands (NYSE:STZ), GameStop (NYSE:GME), and SeaWorld Entertainment (NYSE:SEAS) as stocks that you may want to consider steering clear from. Let's go over my reasons for the near-term pessimism.

Constellation Brands

There aren't a lot of companies reporting earnings this week, but one that could prove problematic is Constellation Brands. The leading distributor of beer, wine, and heartier spirits offers up quarterly results on Thursday morning. The company behind Corona beers, Mondavi wines, Svedka vodka, and High West Whiskey hit a new all-time high on Friday.

You may think business is booming, given its buoyant shares that have soared 20% over the past four months, but you would be wrong. Revenue is expected to inch a mere 1% higher this fiscal year, and earnings have fallen short of analyst estimates in back-to-back quarters.

With a dominant share of the high-end beer market, I'm not bearish on Constellation's long-term prospects. The rub this week is that the stock is at a new peak on uninspiring top-line growth and bad momentum with its recent bottom-line results. It's going to need a monster report on Thursday if it wants Wall Street to raise a toast to Constellation Brands.

GameStop

Picking GameStop for the third week in a row as a stock to avoid may seem to be a case of pushing my luck, but that's the kind of dedication diehard gamers should appreciate. GameStop is doing some things right, and later this month it will finish a fiscal year with positive top-line growth for the first time in four years.

The counter to that argument is that after back-to-back years of sales declines of more than 20% an uptick in the teens won't even get GameStop back to where it was two years ago. GameStop has nearly $6 billion in trailing revenue, but that's well shy of its peak of $9.5 billion nine years earlier.

The bullish case for the original meme stock made sense a year ago when short interest was greater than 100%. Today it rests at a yawn-worthy 11%. It's overvalued by most metrics, and it has posted larger-than-expected deficits in back-to-back quarters. Meme stock investors will probably move to something more shiny and new in 2022.

SeaWorld Entertainment

Last week I went for stocks with recent sharp declines, figuring that they would be under selling pressure as investors lock in losses for their 2021 taxes. It's January, and a lot of last year's dogs could bounce back this month. I screened for big winners, and out of the nearly 160 stocks with market caps of at least $1 billion that more than doubled in 2021, I tried to fish for one that I think could be susceptible in the near term. A stock I own nibbled on my hook.

I'm a SeaWorld Entertainment investor, and a fan of how they've been able to blend animal-themed exhibits with thrill rides and family attractions. However, I don't think SeaWorld should've doubled last year. The world's largest theme park operator's stock actually declined in 2021, and now we have COVID-19 cases surging in all of the states where SeaWorld has a presence. Let's go over my reasons for the near-term pessimism.Constellation BrandsThere aren't a lot of companies reporting earnings this week, but one that could prove problematic is Constellation Brands. It's going to need a monster report on Thursday if it wants Wall Street to raise a toast to Constellation Brands.GameStopPicking GameStop for the third week in a row as a stock to avoid may seem to be a case of pushing my luck, but that's the kind of dedication diehard gamers should appreciate. Meme stock investors will probably move to something more shiny and new in 2022.SeaWorld EntertainmentLast week I went for stocks with recent sharp declines, figuring that they would be under selling pressure as investors lock in losses for their 2021 taxes. It's January, and a lot of last year's dogs could bounce back this month. I screened for big winners, and out of the nearly 160 stocks with market caps of at least $1 billion that more than doubled in 2021, I tried to fish for one that I think could be susceptible in the near term. A stock I own nibbled on my hook.I'm a SeaWorld Entertainment investor, and a fan of how they've been able to blend animal-themed exhibits with thrill rides and family attractions. However, I don't think SeaWorld should've doubled last year. The world's largest theme park operator's stock actually declined in 2021, and now we have COVID-19 cases surging in all of the states where SeaWorld has a presence. SeaWorld likely had a strong holiday quarter, so I can see it moving higher in February, when it reports financial results. Between now and then it could be vulnerable to more negative pandemic updates. If you're looking for safe stocks, you aren't likely to find them in Constellation Brands, GameStop, and SeaWorld Entertainment this week.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":378,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9900252475,"gmtCreate":1658718274497,"gmtModify":1676536197135,"author":{"id":"4100579485105550","authorId":"4100579485105550","name":"stsockli","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/73ce4d0a742e9a3ecb6f752ba879b550","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4100579485105550","authorIdStr":"4100579485105550"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Looks like Musk is a fallible human being just like the rest of us š¤","listText":"Looks like Musk is a fallible human being just like the rest of us š¤","text":"Looks like Musk is a fallible human being just like the rest of us š¤","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9900252475","repostId":"2253607367","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":376,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9088502375,"gmtCreate":1650358184211,"gmtModify":1676534704550,"author":{"id":"4100579485105550","authorId":"4100579485105550","name":"stsockli","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/73ce4d0a742e9a3ecb6f752ba879b550","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4100579485105550","authorIdStr":"4100579485105550"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"I like the game.","listText":"I like the game.","text":"I like the game.","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9088502375","repostId":"9016476123","repostType":1,"repost":{"id":9016476123,"gmtCreate":1649229403658,"gmtModify":1676534474180,"author":{"id":"3527667667103859","authorId":"3527667667103859","name":"TigerEvents","avatar":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/c266ef25181ace18bec1262357bbe1a8","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3527667667103859","authorIdStr":"3527667667103859"},"themes":[],"title":"šćGAMEćHunting Eggs for Extra Saving!","htmlText":"Tiger has prepared some Easter gifts for you, please click here to check them out!Easter can still be a bonus-boosting. Invest $150,000 in These 3 Stocks and Wait a Decade","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2225068592","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"These companies could help supercharge your retirement savings in just 10 years.","content":"

Building your retirement account to $1 million may seem like a tall order if you're starting with just $150,000. But a lot can happen in 10 years, particularly if you invest your money strategically in stocks that are poised for exceptional growth.

Real estate investment trusts (REITs) are often overlooked as a way to grow a retirement account, but they can be a great way to turn $150,000 into $1 million or more. REITs invest in real estate and real estate-related securities, allowing investors to not only diversify their portfolio in real estate but also earn reliable dividends, which can help boost your retirement savings' growth. For example, if you had equally invested $150,000 in Extra Space Storage, American Tower, and Prologis in the spring of 2012, you'd be sitting on over $1 million-plus today, benefiting from favorable dividend returns.

The key to having million-dollar retirement status is determining which companies will shine during the next decade. If you're looking for ripe new investment opportunities to further diversify your portfolio, here's why Life Storage, Sun Communities, and NewLake Capital Partners are standout picks.

1. Life Storage

For nearly 30 years, self-storage REITs have consistently been the top-performing REIT sector. That alone makes it an appealing industry to diversify into, but its recession resilience is what makes it a super-appealing buy for the next decade. Demand for storage space actually increases in times of turbulence like a recession, something some experts say the U.S. could be headed for in the coming years.

Life Storage has been a long-standing winner, providing an annualized return of more than 20% during the past 10 years. Considering it's one of the smaller self-storage REITs, having ownership or interest in just 1,076 locations, there's certainly still room for the company to grow.

Unlike many of its competitors, Life Storage doesn't develop its own facilities; it acquires existing facilities through joint ventures and strategic acquisitions, renovating them to meet current standards for class A storage facilities. This helps it manage supply in the market.

It also offers third-party management services for other self-storage operators, a business model that can help increase revenue without having to acquire more properties or take on debt to do so. The company has a great balance sheet and low debt ratios, having just 4.5 times debt to EBIDTA (earnings before interest, depreciation, taxes and amortization). Based on its performance in 2021, Life Storage increased revenue by 14.1%, funds from operations (FFO) by 27.7%, and net operating income (NOI) by 19.4%, I see Life Storage having another strong decade ahead.

2. Sun Communities

Sun Communities is a residential REIT specializing in the development, sale, and leasing of mobile homes, RV spaces, and marina slips in resorts across the globe. Over the last two years, the company has seen incredible demand, particularly in its short-term rental spaces in its RV resorts and marinas, but also in its rental properties and sale of mobile homes. In 2021, FFO rose by 27.9%, NOI grew 11.2%, and home sale activity increased by 42.6% year over year.

Residential housing is less resilient to recessions than the self-storage industry. If budgets get too tight, particularly as compared to current rental rates or housing prices, demand will falter, bringing rental and price growth down with it. However, a few things Sun Communities has going for it is the fact that it's diversified in several different industries while also directly providing more affordable housing. Its manufactured rental properties run around 50% less per square foot than a traditional home, which on average cost 254% more than a manufactured home. This is huge given today's shortage of affordable homes.

Like Life Storage, this is another stock that has performed incredibly over the last decade, providing an annualized return of just under 20%, and it still has room to grow. It just completed an acquisition of Park Holidays UK, the leading mobile home and RV resort operator in the U.K., which added to its portfolio substantially. There are definitely headwinds that could slow growth, but I think it's definitely one that will still prosper in the coming decade.

3. NewLake Capital Partners

NewLake Capital Partners is one of the newest REITs to hit the market, coming public in August 2021. You don't often see small-cap companies like this make the list for decade-long winners, but there are several reasons I think NewLake Capital Partners could be a huge winner over the next 10 years.

The company specializes in buying existing real estate from cannabis operators and then leasing it back to them over long-term net leases, a structure called sale-leaseback. This business model has been a proven winner in the industry because U.S. laws prevent cannabis operators from storing or borrowing money from federal institutions such as banks.

Only one other public REIT specializes in this business model -- Innovative Industrial Properties. IIPR went public in 2017 and over the past five years, it's dominated this niche, providing an annualized return of 60%.

NewLake is right on track to follow in its footsteps, but the only difference is that NewLake trades for a much greater discount than its larger predecessor. There is long-term concern about the future of marijuana REITs like NewLake because of federal legalization, something that could happen in the next decade. But I don't see this is a huge problem. NewLake benefits from long-term leases, which have an average weighted term of 14.5 years, covering well beyond a decade's growth. Plus, private funding and alternative financing structures like this have existed in the private marketplace for decades, even when traditional loans were an option.

While these three stocks show signs of a promising future, nothing is guaranteed. The next year could hold more market turbulence than expected. It's always a good idea to diversify your portfolio into a variety of industries and investment sectors.

We would never recommend you put your entire retirement savings into just three stocks. But if you have some extra cash in your retirement account and want to supercharge your growth, these three are a viable way to reach a million dollars or more in just 10 years' time.

","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Want $1 Million in Retirement? But a lot can happen in 10 years, particularly if you invest your money strategically in stocks that are poised for exceptional growth.Real estate investment trusts (REITs) are often overlooked as a way to grow a retirement account, but they can be a great way to turn $150,000 into $1 million or more. If you're looking for ripe new investment opportunities to further diversify your portfolio, here's why Life Storage, Sun Communities, and NewLake Capital Partners are standout picks.1. Life StorageFor nearly 30 years, self-storage REITs have consistently been the top-performing REIT sector. That alone makes it an appealing industry to diversify into, but its recession resilience is what makes it a super-appealing buy for the next decade. Demand for storage space actually increases in times of turbulence like a recession, something some experts say the U.S. could be headed for in the coming years.Life Storage has been a long-standing winner, providing an annualized return of more than 20% during the past 10 years. Considering it's one of the smaller self-storage REITs, having ownership or interest in just 1,076 locations, there's certainly still room for the company to grow.Unlike many of its competitors, Life Storage doesn't develop its own facilities; it acquires existing facilities through joint ventures and strategic acquisitions, renovating them to meet current standards for class A storage facilities. Based on its performance in 2021, Life Storage increased revenue by 14.1%, funds from operations (FFO) by 27.7%, and net operating income (NOI) by 19.4%, I see Life Storage having another strong decade ahead.2. Sun CommunitiesSun Communities is a residential REIT specializing in the development, sale, and leasing of mobile homes, RV spaces, and marina slips in resorts across the globe. Over the last two years, the company has seen incredible demand, particularly in its short-term rental spaces in its RV resorts and marinas, but also in its rental properties and sale of mobile homes. In 2021, FFO rose by 27.9%, NOI grew 11.2%, and home sale activity increased by 42.6% year over year.Residential housing is less resilient to recessions than the self-storage industry. This is huge given today's shortage of affordable homes.Like Life Storage, this is another stock that has performed incredibly over the last decade, providing an annualized return of just under 20%, and it still has room to grow. It just completed an acquisition of Park Holidays UK, the leading mobile home and RV resort operator in the U.K., which added to its portfolio substantially. There are definitely headwinds that could slow growth, but I think it's definitely one that will still prosper in the coming decade.3. NewLake Capital PartnersNewLake Capital Partners is one of the newest REITs to hit the market, coming public in August 2021. This business model has been a proven winner in the industry because U.S. laws prevent cannabis operators from storing or borrowing money from federal institutions such as banks.Only one other public REIT specializes in this business model -- Innovative Industrial Properties. IIPR went public in 2017 and over the past five years, it's dominated this niche, providing an annualized return of 60%.NewLake is right on track to follow in its footsteps, but the only difference is that NewLake trades for a much greater discount than its larger predecessor. But if you have some extra cash in your retirement account and want to supercharge your growth, these three are a viable way to reach a million dollars or more in just 10 years' time.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":254,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9907495605,"gmtCreate":1660228810010,"gmtModify":1703497420006,"author":{"id":"4100579485105550","authorId":"4100579485105550","name":"stsockli","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/73ce4d0a742e9a3ecb6f752ba879b550","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4100579485105550","authorIdStr":"4100579485105550"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"š","listText":"š","text":"š","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9907495605","repostId":"9907401228","repostType":1,"repost":{"id":9907401228,"gmtCreate":1660227123767,"gmtModify":1703493069649,"author":{"id":"3581667755269715","authorId":"3581667755269715","name":"Dragon1976","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/490476b6972495f8a3fcdcab33e93aa0","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3581667755269715","authorIdStr":"3581667755269715"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Tiger Brokers(TIGR)$Well done & believe that it will go up to $4 follow by $5 , $6 , $7 & $8..Roar!","listText":"$Tiger Brokers(TIGR)$Well done & believe that it will go up to $4 follow by $5 , $6 , $7 & $8..Roar!","text":"$Tiger Brokers(TIGR)$Well done & believe that it will go up to $4 follow by $5 , $6 , $7 & $8..Roar!","images":[{"img":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/456a1dc85b2ee41b4ccb1c608480afbd","width":"1284","height":"4077"}],"top":1,"highlighted":2,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9907401228","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":0,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":573,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9072638741,"gmtCreate":1658023665583,"gmtModify":1676536094760,"author":{"id":"4100579485105550","authorId":"4100579485105550","name":"stsockli","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/73ce4d0a742e9a3ecb6f752ba879b550","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4100579485105550","authorIdStr":"4100579485105550"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$SATS LTD.(S58.SI)$should have bought in when it was in the 3s š","listText":"$SATS LTD.(S58.SI)$should have bought in when it was in the 3s š","text":"$SATS LTD.(S58.SI)$should have bought in when it was in the 3s š","images":[{"img":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/cd57373be9d9a8622ae367abb61e5885","width":"1440","height":"2739"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9072638741","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":175,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9088506617,"gmtCreate":1650358094595,"gmtModify":1676534704538,"author":{"id":"4100579485105550","authorId":"4100579485105550","name":"stsockli","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/73ce4d0a742e9a3ecb6f752ba879b550","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4100579485105550","authorIdStr":"4100579485105550"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Interesting!
