The Google brand also accounts for around two-thirds of Alphabet&#39;s top line, and (for the time being, anyway) all of the company&#39;s actual profits.</p><p>And what profit growth we&#39;ve seen. Last year&#39;s net income of $76 billion is leaps and bounds better than the $9.7 billion bottom line the company produced 10 years ago, back in 2011. The stock&#39;s price has rallied nearly 800% during that timeframe, from $305 per share then to $2,720 now.</p><p>That&#39;s a tough act to follow, leading some investors to think Alphabet&#39;s highest-growth days are behind it. And, perhaps they are. The world certainly seems to already be using the world wide web as much as it feasibly can. What&#39;s left to drive future growth?</p><p>As it turns out though, there&#39;s still plenty of opportunities for Alphabet to continue its expansion. The company&#39;s Android is also the world&#39;s most popular mobile operating system, with GlobalStats data indicating it&#39;s installed on 70% of the world&#39;s actively used mobile devices. This market isn&#39;t saturated yet, meaning there&#39;s plenty more growth potential in the cards for the advertisement and app-selling platform. In the meantime, Alphabet continues to refine its YouTube property, which boasts 2 billion users per month consuming over 1 billion hours&#39; worth of video content every single day. Alphabet is also showing strong growth in the ever-expanding area of cloud services with its Google Cloud offering.</p><h2>2. Walmart</h2><p>It&#39;s not known or viewed by investors as a high-octane investment, but <b>Walmart</b> (NYSE:WMT) stock has been surprisingly rewarding in recent years despite the fact that <b>Amazon</b> (NASDAQ:AMZN) has encroached on its turf. Shares of the world&#39;s biggest brick-and-mortar retailer are up more than 90% for the past five years, and higher by 125% for the past 10. That reflects annualized revenue growth from $440 billion then to more than $570 billion now.</p><p>Profits haven&#39;t grown nearly as much, but for good reason -- the company continues to invest in it is future, and in e-commerce in particular. Walmart&#39;s also earmarked $14 billion specifically for automation and supply chain improvements, which are ultimately meant to support its growing online marketplace.</p><p>There&#39;s more going on here, however, than the establishment of an e-commerce presence that can at least compete with Amazon.com. Its online shopping efforts are just part of a bigger-picture effort to become more of a lifestyle company akin to Amazon. Primary healthcare, premium private label wine, subscription-based delivery of online orders, and tech-installation services are all part of the bigger plan to make Walmart the go-to name consumers lean on.</p><p>In that, the plan is working (albeit it at a snail&#39;s pace), don&#39;t be surprised to see shares double again over the course of the next 10 years.</p><h2>3. Amazon</h2><p>While nearly everything Walmart does these days is first and foremost meant to combat Amazon.com, that hasn&#39;t prevented the e-commerce giant from growing like crazy. Amazon&#39;s revenue has improved from 2011&#39;s $48 billion to last year&#39;s $470 billion. The stock&#39;s up more than 1,700% for that timeframe, however, buoyed by earnings growth that has dramatically outpaced sales growth thanks to the launch of the company&#39;s cloud computing arm, Amazon Web Services. As it turns out, cloud computing is a considerably more profitable venture than selling merchandise online is.</p><p>It&#39;s unlikely Amazon stock will be able to repeat the feat by 2032. A great deal of the rally stems from the fact that not many people saw the growth coming, and therefore underestimated the stock back in 2012. Investors won&#39;t make the same mistake again.</p><p>Still, even producing half of the gain it produced over the course of the past 10 years during the next 10 years would be a huge win for shareholders.</p><p>And there&#39;s little reason to dismiss the possibility. Amazon is constantly evolving in ways that set the stage for more growth. For instance, the company confirmed it generated $31 billion worth of advertising revenue last year, and that&#39;s despite the service being relatively young, unrefined, and not fully understood by advertisers. AmazonWhile nearly everything Walmart does these days is first and foremost meant to combat Amazon.com, that hasn't prevented the e-commerce giant from growing like crazy. Amazon's revenue has improved from 2011's $48 billion to last year's $470 billion. The stock's up more than 1,700% for that timeframe, however, buoyed by earnings growth that has dramatically outpaced sales growth thanks to the launch of the company's cloud computing arm, Amazon Web Services. As it turns out, cloud computing is a considerably more profitable venture than selling merchandise online is.It's unlikely Amazon stock will be able to repeat the feat by 2032. A great deal of the rally stems from the fact that not many people saw the growth coming, and therefore underestimated the stock back in 2012. Investors won't make the same mistake again.Still, even producing half of the gain it produced over the course of the past 10 years during the next 10 years would be a huge win for shareholders.And there's little reason to dismiss the possibility. Amazon is constantly evolving in ways that set the stage for more growth. For instance, the company confirmed it generated $31 billion worth of advertising revenue last year, and that's despite the service being relatively young, unrefined, and not fully understood by advertisers. In this report, we&#39;ll pit Lucid Group, Inc. (LCID) and NIO Inc. (NIO) against each other - two of the most interesting EV players that combine strong brands and high-end technological capabilities. In this report, we&#39;ll take a deeper dive into the tech and product side and will look at individual risks for both companies. Overall, I do believe that NIO is the more attractive choice among these two at current prices.</p><p><b>Lucid And NIO In The EV Market</b></p><p>The global EV market has been growing rapidly, with EV sales likely coming in a little north of six million, which is roughly twice as high as during the previous year. Clearly, EVs are a huge growth sector in the global automobile market, although it should be noted that most vehicles sold around the world are still powered by internal combustion engines. Over the years, EV market share should continue to climb rapidly, but it is not looking like EVs will dominate ICE vehicles any time soon.</p><p>The market leaders in the EV space are Tesla and BYD (OTCPK:BYDDY), and, depending on how one counts plug-in hybrids, Volkswagen (OTCPK:VWAGY). NIO Inc. and Lucid Group, Inc. are not among the largest companies for now. NIO is selling around 11,000 vehicles a month right now, which translates into a ~130,000 annual sales pace. Sales have been growing quickly, however, which is why NIO will most likely sell more than 130,000 vehicles next year, as deliveries should continue to climb sequentially. Lucid is way smaller for now, in terms of deliveries, as the company has likely sold a couple of hundred vehicles this year. Next year, Lucid Group targets deliveries of around 20,000 vehicles - up by a lot versus 2021, but still a relatively small number compared to the deliveries NIO and many other peers will hit next year.</p><p><b>LCID Vs. NIO&#39;s Past Quarterly Performance</b></p><p>As noted above, NIO&#39;s sales performance was way stronger than that of Lucid over the last three months, but that was hardly a surprise as LCID just began delivering vehicles to customers. On a share price basis, however, Lucid fared better:</p><p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/a7a6e7cb1b1485f32cc25ade9f387a5b\" tg-width=\"635\" tg-height=\"433\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer\"/><span>Data by YCharts</span></p><p>Over the last three months, LCID is up close to 50%, whereas NIO saw its shares drop by close to 20% over the same time frame. In NIO&#39;s case, macro worries about Chinese regulation played a role, whereas LCID benefitted a lot from growing enthusiasm for US-based EV players caused by Rivian&#39;s (RIVN) huge IPO success. On top of that, the start of deliveries also attracted new investors to Lucid&#39;s stock. If analysts are correct, NIO is the much better value today:</p><p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/0b1d0939d657b284e25d8447ccb211b5\" tg-width=\"635\" tg-height=\"481\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer\"/><span>Data by YCharts</span></p><p>Shares are trading at less than half the consensus price target, which implies 100%+ upside over the next year, whereas LCID is trading almost perfectly in line with the current consensus price target - which implies no upside over the next year. NIO&#39;s underperformance over the last quarter thus seems to position the company well for a strong performance from the current level, whereas the same can&#39;t be said about Lucid.</p><p><b>Lucid Vs. NIO Key Metrics</b></p><p>Let&#39;s take a deeper look at the tech of the two companies, as well as at their branding, and their specific key risks. Both NIO and Lucid are active in the high-end segment of the EV industry, selling vehicles with ASPs well north of the average Tesla. NIO&#39;s ASP is around $70,000, and Lucid&#39;s ASP is even higher than that for now, as the company is selling the most expensive Air<i>Dream</i>version first. Tesla, the current EV leader, has an ASP of around $50,000. Both NIO and Tesla are thus operating in a more luxurious, higher-end segment of the market compared to Tesla. How are these companies able to demand way higher ASPs than Tesla? At least for now, peers such as XPeng (XPEV) seem to employ the stronger algorithms, but that is a problem that NIO can solve over the coming quarters and years, and integrating future software in its vehicles that come with top-notch hardware shouldn&#39;t be a very difficult task. Lucid&#39;s self-driving tech, even though it doesn&#39;t get a lot of recognition yet, is not looking bad at all, either. The DreamDrive suite utilizes 32 onboard sensors, almost on par with NIO&#39;s Aquila system (and 4x more sensors compared to the M3, which is allegedly L5 ready from a hardware perspective).</p><p>Strong tech alone doesn&#39;t make for an attractive vehicle, however, as design, manufacturing quality, etc. have to be considered as well. Both NIO and Lucid thus look strong from a design, quality, and tech perspective, with NIO putting more focus on customer-friendly items such as battery-swapping and driving assistance, whereas Lucid puts more focus on engine performance, battery tech, etc. Both avenues have their advantages, but I personally could see NIO benefit more from its easy-to-use, customer-friendly approach, as not too many people will buy an EV based on criteria such as the battery architecture. Still, Lucid&#39;s ability to develop high-performing vehicles should come in very handy in the highly competitive EV industry going forward.</p><p>With NIO, the main risk the market seems to worry about now is regulation/politics. I personally do not believe that regulation will be a huge risk for NIO. Chinese companies never were able to compete successfully in the ICE vehicle space, but with EV technologies bringing change to the entire global automobile industry, China saw its chance to become a global automobile powerhouse. Hurting NIO and other Chinese EV players would run contrary to those goals, which is why I believe that China is more interested in nurturing its own EV players, including NIO, instead of hurting them. Still, the market puts a discount on every Chinese company today, and that holds true for NIO as well - which might be a good thing for those seeking to buy into the company at a below-average valuation.</p><p>For Lucid, regulation doesn&#39;t seem like an important risk. Instead, the main risks here are the high valuation and the production ramp. As Tesla has shown, ramping up vehicle production is no easy task. The company oftentimes had to battle with delays and other issues, sometimes summarized as &#34;Production Hell&#34;. The same could hold true for Lucid, which will have to ramp up production at a high speed in the coming months and quarters in order to meet its ambitious production goals. It&#39;s not a certainty that it will experience similar issues to other manufacturers, of course, but due to a lack of experience, this seems a considerable risk worth keeping an eye on. On top of that, LCID&#39;s high valuation could be a considerable risk - shares trade at around 30x next year&#39;s expected revenue, and there is no guarantee at all that those revenues will actually be generated.</p><p><b>Is Lucid Or NIO Stock The Better Buy?</b></p><p>Both NIO and Lucid have attractive products that seem highly competitive in the EV market that is seeing more and more entrants. In this report, we'll take a deeper dive into the tech and product side and will look at individual risks for both companies. Overall, I do believe that NIO is the more attractive choice among these two at current prices.Lucid And NIO In The EV MarketThe global EV market has been growing rapidly, with EV sales likely coming in a little north of six million, which is roughly twice as high as during the previous year. Clearly, EVs are a huge growth sector in the global automobile market, although it should be noted that most vehicles sold around the world are still powered by internal combustion engines. Over the years, EV market share should continue to climb rapidly, but it is not looking like EVs will dominate ICE vehicles any time soon.The market leaders in the EV space are Tesla and BYD (OTCPK:BYDDY), and, depending on how one counts plug-in hybrids, Volkswagen (OTCPK:VWAGY). NIO Inc. and Lucid Group, Inc. are not among the largest companies for now. NIO is selling around 11,000 vehicles a month right now, which translates into a ~130,000 annual sales pace. Sales have been growing quickly, however, which is why NIO will most likely sell more than 130,000 vehicles next year, as deliveries should continue to climb sequentially. Lucid is way smaller for now, in terms of deliveries, as the company has likely sold a couple of hundred vehicles this year. Next year, Lucid Group targets deliveries of around 20,000 vehicles - up by a lot versus 2021, but still a relatively small number compared to the deliveries NIO and many other peers will hit next year.LCID Vs. NIO's Past Quarterly PerformanceAs noted above, NIO's sales performance was way stronger than that of Lucid over the last three months, but that was hardly a surprise as LCID just began delivering vehicles to customers. On a share price basis, however, Lucid fared better:Data by YChartsOver the last three months, LCID is up close to 50%, whereas NIO saw its shares drop by close to 20% over the same time frame. Tesla bears turned into bulls after first quarter numbers came out. Tesla earned $3.3 billion, $2.86/share under GAAP, on first quarter revenue of $18.7 billion. Auto revenues were 87% ahead of a year earlier. But they were just 5% ahead of the previous quarter.</p><p>Bulls think Tesla is <b>Apple</b>(NASDAQ:<b><u>AAPL</u></b>), that it has the market sewn up. They say there will be haves and have-nots in the new tech market and Tesla will be one of the haves. They see continuing supply chain worries and assume Tesla will surmount them while rivals won’t.</p><p>Tesla has taught its industry many lessons, but the lessons are being learned. Buy a <b>Toyota</b>(NYSE:<b><u>TM</u></b>) today and you’ll be faced with a host of services aimed at tying you to the brand. For car dealers, service and support are where the money is. Even <b>General Motors</b>(NYSE:<b><u>GM</u></b>) has learned that you build your full line off one platform to keep costs down and focus on battery supply.</p><p>Despite Tesla’s pretensions, in other words, it’s a car company. No car company is worth 18 times its revenue.</p><p>The Great Replacement</p><p>A walk around my middle-class neighborhood tells the story. The “Great Replacement” today isn’t people quitting their jobs. It’s replacing America’s gas-guzzling fleet with EVs.</p><p>Tesla made the big jump look cool. We have two Teslas on my block. But for most people it’s still a question of small steps. That’s why I recently became the fifth homeowner on my street to buy a Toyota hybrid. It cuts my gas use in half, but I don’t have to worry about finding a plug in the middle of West Virginia. It also cost half what a Tesla costs.</p><p>Cars with plugs, like Tesla, still represent just 5% of the U.S. car market. Hybrids are where the growth is in today’s mass market, which is dominated by Japanese, Korean and Chinese names.</p><p>Tesla’s market share in China is falling. In Europe, <b>Volkswagen</b>(OTCMKTS:<b><u>VWAGY</u></b>) and <b>Stellantis</b>(NYSE:<b><u>STLA</u></b>) now have bigger shares of the plug-in market.</p><p>The Bottom Line on TSLA Stock</p><p>Bulls look at CEO Elon Musk’s effort to buy <b>Twitter</b>(NASDAQ:<b><u>TWTR</u></b>) and worry that might distract him. They even bought Tesla when it seemed he might back off the Twitter purchase.</p><p>The Twitter saga tells me Musk is bored. Tesla is being run by car guys. The great strategic cut-and-thrust is mostly over. He wants to do something else. So don’t buy or sell Tesla stock based on Musk.</p><p>Look at the fundamentals. In the near term, they’re great, but you’re overpaying.
