growth stocks drag down Nasdaq

Indexes down: Dow 0.52%, S&P 1.15%, Nasdaq 2.26%

(Reuters) - U.S. stocks lost ground on Monday as a lack of catalysts left market participants warily embarking on a week back-end loaded with crucial inflation data and the unofficial beginning to second-quarter earnings season.

Market leading growth stocks pulled all three major U.S. stock indexes into negative territory, with risk-off sentiment exacerbated by Macau's first casino shutdown in over two years to curb the spread of COVID-19.

"It’s a nervous market," said Rob Haworth, senior investment strategist at U.S. Bank Wealth Management in Seattle. "It’s all about the kick-off to earnings season and what inflation (data) tells us."

"We know inflation is being driven by supply constraints, and China is an important factor," Haworth added. "And (the Macau shutdown) threw a cold blanket on the market this morning."

Results from big banks, including JPMorgan Chase & Co , $Citigroup Inc(C-N)$, and Wells Fargo & Co, are expected to launch second-quarter reporting season later this week.

The S&P 500 Banking index slid 1.0%.

Analysts expect steep plunges of year-on-year profits as the companies grow their loan loss reserves, fueling fears of impending recession.

Later in the week a raft of economic data - including consumer prices, retail sales and factory output - should provide a glimpse of the extent to which inflation has peaked and the economy has cooled down as the Federal Reserve moves closer to next week's policy meeting, which is expected to culminate in the second straight 75 basis point interest rate hike.

"The market is trying to caution itself ahead of that (CPI) print," Haworth said. four Singapore REITs that I will add.

When investing, it’s useful to keep some spare cash lying around.

With both the NASDAQ Composite Index and S&P 500 falling into a bear market, many stocks are getting cheaper as a result.

Over in Singapore, the weak sentiment, along with rising interest rates, have pushed down the prices of many REITs.

Yet, the strong REITs have proven time and again that they can continue to generate a stream of passive income through dividends.

You can take advantage of the fall in REIT prices to scoop up units at attractive distribution yields.

If I had S$30,000 to spare, here are four REITs that I will allocate that money.

Frasers Logistics & Commercial Trust (SGX: BUOU)

Frasers Logistics & Commercial Trust, or FLCT, is an industrial and commercial REIT that owns 102 properties spread across five countries – Singapore, Australia, the UK, Germany and the Netherlands.

Its assets under management stood at S$6.7 billion as of 31 March 2022.

FLCT recently declared and paid out a distribution per unit of S$0.0385 for its fiscal 2022’s first half (1H2022) ended 31 March 2022.

The trailing 12-month distribution yield stands at 4.6%.

The REIT has maintained a high occupancy rate of 96.1% with a long weighted average lease expiry (WALE) of 4.6 years.

Aggregate leverage will fall to 29.5% post-repayment of borrowings, setting FLCT up for sufficient debt headroom to make more yield-accretive acquisitions.

The REIT announced two acquisitions last month – the acquisition of three freehold logistics and industrial properties in Victoria, Australia, and the purchase of a freehold logistics development in Cheshire, the UK.

Mapletree Logistics Trust (SGX: M44U)

Mapletree Logistics Trust, or MLT, owns a portfolio of 183 properties in eight countries with an AUM of S$13.1 billion as of 31 March 2022.

The logistics-focused REIT reported a respectable set of earnings for its fiscal 2022 ended 31 March 2022 (FY2022).

Gross revenue climbed 20.9% year on year to S$678.6 million while net property income (NPI) increased by 18.6% year on year to S$592.1 million.

DPU inched up 5.5% year on year to S$0.08787, giving the units a trailing distribution yield of 5%.

MLT’s aggregate leverage stood at 36.8% with a low cost of debt of 2.2%.

The REIT also enjoys a high occupancy rate of 96.7% and also reported a 2.9% increase in its average rental reversion.

MLT has demonstrated a strong track record of acquisitions – the REIT had made a total of eight acquisitions in FY2022.

Investors can look forward to more acquisitions for FY2023 as the REIT positions itself for further growth.

CapitaLand China Trust (SGX: AU8U)

CapitaLand China Trust, or CLCT, is the largest China-focused Singapore REIT with an AUM of RMB 24.8 billion as of 31 December 2021.

The REIT’s portfolio comprises 11 retail properties, five business parks and four logistics parks located in 12 cities within China.

For FY2021, CLCT reported a DPU of S$0.0873, giving its units a trailing distribution yield of 7.7%.

For the first quarter of 2022 (1Q2022), gross revenue jumped 24% year on year to RMB 489.9 million, driven by full contributions from business parks and new contributions from the logistics parks.

NPI improved by 30.4% year on year to RMB 344.5 million.

Gearing remains reasonable at 38.1% as of 31 March 2022 with an average cost of debt of 2.64%.

CLCT is backed by a strong sponsor in CapitaLand Investment Limited (SGX: 9CI), which provides an acquisition pipeline for the REIT to continue growing its AUM.

As of 31 December 2021, the sponsor owned 12 retail assets, 29 commercial and integrated developments, and eight new economy assets (read: industrial, logistics and business parks) that can potentially be injected into CLCT.

Keppel DC REIT (SGX: AJBU)

Keppel DC REIT is a data centre REIT that owns a portfolio of 21 data centres across nine countries with an AUM of S$3.5 billion as of 31 March 2022.

The REIT reported that gross revenue for 1Q2022 dipped 0.9% year on year to S$66.1 million while NPI fell by 1.4% year on year to S$60.1 million.

However, DPU edged up 0.2% year on year to S$0.02466. Prospective distribution yield stands at 5% for its units.

Keppel DC REIT recently acquired its second data centre in London for S$104 million which will bump up DPU.

The REIT also purchased two data centres in Guangdong, China, for around S$297 million which will see DPU rise by 2.7%.

Keppel DC REIT still has around S$2 billion worth of potential data centre acquisitions from its sponsor Keppel Corporation Limited (SGX: BN4).

","source":"lsy1602567310727","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" Industry capacity is projected to rise by 8% this year and a further 6% next year.Raffles Medical Group (SGX: BSL)If you’re looking for a recession-proof industry, healthcare immediately comes to mind.Raffles Medical Group, or RMG, is an integrated healthcare provider operating in 14 cities within five countries. The group operates three tertiary hospitals and more than 100 multi-disciplinary clinics that offer a wide range of medical and diagnostic services. The hospital operator reported a sparkling set of earnings for FY2021 as it successfully pivoted its business to help the government manage the COVID-19 pandemic.Revenue climbed 27.4% year on year to S$723.8 million while net profit rose 27.7% year on year to S$84.2 million.A final dividend of S$0.028 was paid out, giving its shares a trailing dividend yield of 2.5%.With borders reopening around the world, medical tourism should also resume, boosting RMG’s prospects for FY2022.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":119,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9057979873,"gmtCreate":1655457550992,"gmtModify":1676535643566,"author":{"id":"4106301824676340","authorId":"4106301824676340","name":"qntuair","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4106301824676340","authorIdStr":"4106301824676340"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Great ariticle, would you like to share it?","listText":"Great ariticle, would you like to share it?","text":"Great ariticle, would you like to share it?","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9057979873","repostId":"1180346675","repostType":2,"repost":{"id":"1180346675","kind":"news","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Providing stock market headlines, business news, financials and earnings ","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Tiger Newspress","id":"1079075236","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8274c5b9d4c2852bfb1c4d6ce16c68ba"},"pubTimestamp":1655393017,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1180346675?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-06-16 23:23","market":"us","language":"en","title":"U.S. Stocks Extended Their Losses in Morning Trading; Dow Jones Sunk Below 30,000 Since 2021 While Nasdaq Tumbled Nearly 4%","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1180346675","media":"Tiger Newspress","summary":"U.S. stocks extended their losses in morning trading. height=\"auto\"/>

Blue-chip stocks are a great source of investment ideas for new investors.

These stocks are so named because they represent strong and stable businesses with long track records.

The Straits Times Index (SGX: ^STI), or STI, contains 30 of the largest blue-chip stocks on the Singapore stock exchange.

As of 15 June 2022, the index has chalked up a slight negative return of -0.57%.

If you dug deeper into the component stocks within the benchmark index, you’d see that some had performed significantly better while others did worse.

Here are three blue-chip stocks that beat the STI by a wide margin and could have more room to run.

Sembcorp Industries Ltd (SGX: U96)

Sembcorp Industries Ltd, or SCI, is a leading energy and urban solutions provider.

The group has an energy portfolio of more than 15 gigawatts (GW), of which over 4.5 GW comprises renewable energy such as solar and wind energies.

Shares of the energy group have surged by 39.3% year to date, handily beating the STI.

SCI had reported a stellar set of earnings for fiscal 2021 (FY2021), with revenue jumping 43% year on year to S$7.8 billion and net profit surging by 78% year on year to S$279 million.

For FY2021, the group secured 2.9 GW of new renewable energy projects across its key markets.

SCI recently announced the completion of the acquisition of a 98% interest in a portfolio of operational wind and solar assets in China.

This purchase increased its gross renewables portfolio to 6.8 GW.

The group is on track to achieve its target of 10 GW of installed renewables capacity by 2025, as part of its three-prong business transformation announced in mid-June last year.

Meanwhile, SCI has also been appointed by the Energy Market Authority to build, own and operate energy storage systems on Jurong Island.

Keppel Corporation Limited (SGX: BN4)

Keppel Corporation is an offshore and marine (O&M) conglomerate with four key divisions – energy and environment, urban development, connectivity, and asset management.

The group’s share price has done well year to date, chalking up a return of 29.2% before factoring in dividends.

Keppel had announced its highest net profit in six years of S$1.02 billion for FY2021, reversing the loss of S$506 million a year ago.

A total dividend of S$0.33 per share was also paid out and a S$500 million share buyback programme was initiated.

The O&M group continues to make good progress on its Vision 2030 goals as it reported good progress for its asset monetisation.

Over S$3.2 billion was monetised from October 2020 till end-March 2022, with S$17.5 billion worth of monetisable assets across the group.

Keppel also grew its recurring income by 33% year on year for FY2021 from S$220 million to S$292 million.

The momentum has carried into the first quarter of 2022 (1Q2022), with revenue rising by 9% year on year to S$2.1 billion.

Investors can also look forward to the upcoming merger between Keppel Corporation and Sembcorp Marine Ltd (SGX: S51) which will create a stronger global player in the O&M sector.

City Developments Limited (SGX: C09)

City Developments Limited, or CDL, is a global real estate company that operates in 104 locations in 29 countries and regions.

The group owns and manages a portfolio of residential, hotel, and investment properties across the world.

CDL’s share price has outperformed the STI with a 17.3% rise year to date.

The property giant reported an improved set of earnings for FY2021, with revenue climbing 24.5% year on year to S$2.63 billion.

The better performance came after the group offloaded its 51% stake in troubled Sincere China for US$1 last September.

It also paid out a total dividend of S$0.12 per share for FY2021.

For 1Q2022’s business update, CDL reported that market activity in Singapore is set to improve with more new launches coming.

Construction activities are also resuming with the country’s reopening as labour woes are now easing.

CDL’s hotel operations are also seeing signs of improvement with room occupancy rising to 52.2% in 1Q2022 from 36.8% a year ago.

Revenue per available room (RevPAR) has also more than doubled from S$44.4 in 1Q2021 to S$89.6 in 1Q2022.

","source":"lsy1602567310727","collect":0,"html":"<!DOCTYPE June 2022, the index has chalked up a slight negative return of -0.57%.If you dug deeper into the component stocks within the benchmark index, you’d see that some had performed significantly better while others did worse.Here are three blue-chip stocks that beat the STI by a wide margin and could have more room to run.Sembcorp Industries Ltd (SGX: U96)Sembcorp Industries Ltd, or SCI, is a leading energy and urban solutions provider.The group has an energy portfolio of more than 15 gigawatts (GW), of which over 4.5 GW comprises renewable energy such as solar and wind energies.Shares of and net profit surging by 78% year on year to S$279 million.For FY2021, the group secured 2.9 GW of new renewable energy projects across its key markets.SCI recently announced the completion of the acquisition of a 98% interest in a portfolio of operational wind and solar assets in China.This purchase increased its gross renewables portfolio to 6.8 GW.The group is on track to achieve its target of 10 GW of installed renewables capacity by 2025, as part of its three-prong business transformation announced in mid-June last year.Meanwhile, SCI has also been appointed by the Energy Market Authority to build, own and operate energy storage systems on Jurong Island.Keppel Corporation Limited (SGX: BN4)Keppel Corporation is an offshore and marine (O&M) conglomerate with four key divisions – energy and environment, urban development, connectivity, and asset management.The group’s share price has done well year to date, chalking up a return of 29.2% before factoring in dividends.Keppel had announced its highest net profit in six years of S$1.02 billion for FY2021, reversing the loss of S$506 million a year ago.A total dividend of S$0.33 per share was also paid out and a S$500 million share buyback programme was initiated.The O&M group continues to make good progress on its Vision 2030 goals as it reported good progress for its asset monetisation.Over S$3.2 billion was monetised from October 2020 till end-March 2022, with S$17.5 billion worth of monetisable assets across the group.Keppel also grew its recurring income by 33% year on year for FY2021 from S$220 million to S$292 million.The momentum has carried into the first quarter of 2022 (1Q2022), with revenue rising by 9% year on year to S$2.1 billion.Investors can also look forward to the upcoming merger between Keppel Corporation and Sembcorp Marine Ltd (SGX: S51) which will create a stronger global player in the O&M sector.City Developments Limited (SGX: C09)City Developments Limited, or CDL, is a global real estate company that operates in 104 locations in 29 countries and regions.The group owns and manages a portfolio of residential, hotel, and investment properties across the world.CDL’s share price has outperformed the STI with a 17.3% rise year to date.The property giant reported an improved set of earnings for FY2021, with revenue climbing 24.5% year on year to S$2.63 billion.The better performance came after the group offloaded its 51% stake in troubled Sincere China for US$1 last September.It also paid out a total dividend of S$0.12 per share for FY2021.For 1Q2022’s business update, CDL reported that market activity in Singapore is set to improve with more new launches coming.Construction activities are also resuming with the country’s reopening as labour woes are now easing.CDL’s hotel operations are also seeing signs of improvement with room occupancy rising to 52.2% in 1Q2022 from 36.8% a year ago.Revenue per available room (RevPAR) has also more than doubled from S$44.4 in 1Q2021 to S$89.6 in three stocks performed significantly better than the index and may still have room to run.Blue-chip stocks are a great source of investment ideas for new investors.These stocks are so named because they represent strong and stable businesses with long track records.The Straits Times Index (SGX: ^STI), or STI, contains 30 of the largest blue-chip stocks on the Singapore stock exchange.As of 15 June 2022, the index has chalked up a slight negative return of -0.57%.If you dug deeper into the component stocks within the benchmark index, you’d see that some had performed significantly better while others did worse.Here are three blue-chip stocks that beat the STI by a wide margin and could have more room to run.Sembcorp Industries Ltd (SGX: U96)Sembcorp Industries Ltd, or SCI, is a leading energy and urban solutions provider.The group has an energy portfolio of more than 15 gigawatts (GW), of which over 4.5 GW comprises renewable energy such as solar and wind energies.Shares of the energy group have surged by 39.3% year to date, handily beating the STI.SCI had reported a stellar set of earnings for fiscal 2021 (FY2021), with revenue jumping 43% year on year to S$7.8 billion and net profit surging by 78% year on year to S$279 million.For FY2021, the group secured 2.9 GW of new renewable energy projects across its key markets.SCI recently announced the completion of the acquisition of a 98% interest in a portfolio of operational wind and solar assets in China.This purchase increased its gross renewables portfolio to 6.8 GW.The group is on track to achieve its target of 10 GW of installed renewables capacity by 2025, as part of its three-prong business transformation announced in mid-June last year.Meanwhile, SCI has also been appointed by the Energy Market Authority to build, own and operate energy storage systems on Jurong Island.Keppel Corporation Limited (SGX: BN4)Keppel Corporation is an offshore and marine (O&M) conglomerate with four key divisions – energy and environment, urban development, connectivity, and asset management.The group’s share price has done well year to date, chalking up a return of 29.2% before factoring in dividends.Keppel had announced its highest net profit in six years of S$1.02 billion for FY2021, reversing the loss of S$506 million a year ago.A total dividend of S$0.33 per share was also paid out and a S$500 million share buyback programme was initiated.The O&M group continues to make good progress on its Vision 2030 goals as it reported good progress for its asset monetisation.Over S$3.2 billion was monetised from October 2020 till end-March 2022, with S$17.5 billion worth of monetisable assets across the group.Keppel also grew its recurring income by 33% year on year for FY2021 from S$220 million to S$292 million.The momentum has carried into the first quarter of 2022 (1Q2022), with revenue rising by 9% year on year to S$2.1 billion.Investors can also look forward to the upcoming merger between Keppel Corporation and Sembcorp Marine Ltd (SGX: S51) which will create a stronger global player in the O&M sector.City Developments Limited (SGX: C09)City Developments Limited, or CDL, is a global real estate company that operates in 104 locations in 29 countries and regions.The group owns and manages a portfolio of residential, hotel, and investment properties across the world.CDL’s share price has outperformed the STI with a 17.3% rise year to date.The property giant reported an improved set of earnings for FY2021, with revenue climbing 24.5% year on year to S$2.63 billion.The better performance came after the group offloaded its 51% stake in troubled Sincere China for US$1 last September.It also paid out a total dividend of S$0.12 per share for FY2021.For 1Q2022’s business update, CDL reported that market activity in Singapore is set to improve with more new launches coming.Construction activities are also resuming with the country’s reopening as labour woes are now easing.CDL’s hotel operations are also seeing signs of improvement with room occupancy rising to 52.2% in 1Q2022 from 36.8% a year ago.Revenue per available room (RevPAR) has also more than doubled from S$44.4 in 1Q2021 to S$89.6 in 1Q2022.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":27,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"lives":[]}
