Trump was permanently banned from Twitter for fears he would incite even more violence in the wake of the Jan. 6, 2021 insurrection.</p><p>Five people died as a result of the violent attempt by Trump supporters to take over the capital and stop the counting of the electoral votes and Trump was impeached for a second time as a result.</p><p>Though Musk calls himself a &#34;free speech absolutist,&#34; Buffett joked about his own technology limitations saying “I literally don’t know how to send an email.”</p><p>Buffett also marveled at Tesla (TSLA) CEO Elon Musk, noting that he took on General Motors (GM), Ford Motor (F), and the rest of the auto industry with “an idea and he’s winning.”</p><p>“That’s America. You can’t dream it up.”</p><p>Buffett acknowledged that he can’t earn the kind of returns now at Berkshire, with its $760 billion market value, than he could when he started the Buffett investment partnership in 1956 with $105,100. “If I do something brilliant with $5 billion, it’s 1% of the net worth” of Berkshire, which has about $500 billion of shareholder equity.</p><p>Buffett recounted his first equity purchase, made on March 11, 1942 at age 11, when he bought three shares of Cities Services preferred stock for $114.75. Before then, Buffett had prepared for the investment. “I had read every book in the Omaha public library about the stock market” by age 11. “I read books on technical analysis—I read everything.” That investment proved to be a winner—the start of many more.</p><p>It wasn’t until he was 18 or 19 and discovered the writings of his mentor Benjamin Graham that he realized he was focused on the wrong thing. Surging inflation and worries over the economic fallout from Russia’s war in Ukraine have sent short-term interest rate benchmarks sharply higher in recent weeks. That’s prompting issuers to pause their financing plans until markets have calmed.Auto-finance company World Omni also postponed an auto lease-backed bond offering on Friday after it had already started marketing it. The same day, “buy now, pay later” lender Affirm Holdings Inc. also delayed an offering of debt backed by consumer installment loans.Tesla didn’t respond to messages seeking comment. Representatives for the banks arranging the deal, Wells Fargo, Credit Suisse, Barclays, and Citigroup, declined to comment.At least seven securitized debt deals in all have been shelved since the Ukrainian war. Last month, two commercial mortgage bonds and a residential mortgage bond were also delayed amid market weakness, which has been exacerbated by the Federal Reserve’s move toward monetary tightening to fight inflation. The central bank announced its first rate hike since 2018 on Wednesday.The Tesla ABS offering, dubbed TESLA 2022-A, kicked off March 7, with pricing guidance issued three days later. Most of the tranches went “subject” by Tuesday, according to two investors familiar with the deal, meaning that they were sold and pricing was imminent. Communication on the deal went silent, however, before Tesla shelved it.“Investors are never pleased when they put in all the work to analyze a deal and then it is pulled,” said John Kerschner, the head of U.S. securitized products at Janus Henderson.Tesla started its ABS program in early 2018 and has issued seven transactions.
