Most of its decline came in the second week of the month as the banking crisis spiraled out of control, leading to a sharp decline in oil prices, which weighed on Baker Hughes.

Other than that, the news out on Baker Hughes was mixed in the month. Its weekly rig count fluctuated over March, finishing at 755, up from 753 at the end of February.

Additionally, the company won a subsea contract with Azule Energy off the coast of Angola and an order from Bechtel to supply liquefaction trains for Sempra Infrastructure's liquefied natural gas (LNG) project at Port Arthur, Texas.

Given the economic and energy sector volatility, Baker Hughes' stock price is likely to move with oil prices.

2. Zscaler (down 10.9% in March)

Last month, the second-worst-performing stock on the Nasdaq-100 was Zscaler, the cybersecurity software-as-a-service provider (SaaS). Also, adjusted earnings per share jumped from $0.13 to $0.37, ahead of estimates at $0.29.

While the company beat estimates, the market seemed to sell the stock off on slowing growth and because it trades at a lofty valuation of a price-to-sales ratio of around 15 and a forward price-to-earnings ratio of nearly 100.

Like other SaaS stocks, Zscaler is facing stiff valuation headwinds, but investors should be encouraged by the performance of the underlying business.

3. Pinduoduo (down 13.5% in March)

Chinese e-commerce company Pinduoduo was the worst March performer on the Nasdaq-100. The stock fell in the second half of the month on a weak earnings report and news that Alphabet's Google Play had removed the app from its store over security concerns. The company missed estimates on the top line as revenue jumped 46% to $5.77 billion, just short of the consensus at $5.95 billion.

Pinduoduo also improved its profitability in recent quarters, posting an adjusted operating profit of $1.68 billion as the company shifted to value-added services like marketing and payments and further toward a marketplace model.

Later in March, the stock sold off again due to the Pinduoduo app's Google Play Store suspension. Pinduoduo denied that its app was malicious, though it will need to be restored on that platform.

Chinese stocks like Pinduoduo have faced a number of headwinds in recent months, but the end of the "zero-COVID" policy and the company's recent results seem to bode well for the stock.

If the Chinese market continues to bounce back, Pinduoduo could have a lot of upside.

","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Is It Time to Buy the Nasdaq's 3 Worst-Performing March Stocks?
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nIs It Time to Buy the Nasdaq's 3 Worst-Performing March Stocks?\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2023-04-05 15:31 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
KEY POINTSBaker Hughes slipped as oil prices fell.Zscaler shares pulled back despite a strong earnings report.Pinduoduo missed on revenue estimates, and its app was removed from Google Play.In a rocky...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n","type":0,"thumbnail":"","relate_stocks":{},"source_url":"https://www.fool.com/investing/2023/04/04/time-to-buy-nasdaq-worst-performing-stocks/","is_english":true,"share_image_url":"https://static.laohu8.com/e9f99090a1c2ed51c021029395664489","article_id":"2324872695","content_text":"KEY POINTSBaker Hughes slipped as oil prices fell.Zscaler shares pulled back despite a strong earnings report.Pinduoduo missed on revenue estimates, and its app was removed from Google Play.In a rocky month for the stock market, the Nasdaq Composite index managed to finish in positive territory, overcoming concerns about a banking crisis and rising interest rates. As you can see from the chart below, the Nasdaq finished the month with a surge as the banking crisis seemed to wane, and the personal consumption expenditure index showed inflation was decelerating.^NDX data by YCharts.Still, not every Nasdaq stock was a winner. The rebound also meant the STI was up 0.2 percent from last Friday’s close.Across the broader market, gainers outnumbered losers 307 to 233, after 2.3 billion securities worth S$1.9 billion were traded.CapitaLand Investment was the top STI gainer, rising 2.6 percent to close at S$3.56.Meanwhile, Emperador slipped 1.9 percent to S$0.51, ending at the bottom of the index performance table. The trio of local banks logged a mixed performance. DBS shares closed unchanged at S$32.55, but UOB and OCBC were gainers, rising 1.9 percent and 0.9 percent respectively. For the week, Sats was the top index gainer, rising 7 percent over the five trading days. Meanwhile, Yangzijiang Shipbuilding was the worst STI performer this week, after its shares fell 6.9 percent.Elsewhere in the region, most markets closed higher on Friday tracking overnight gains on Wall Street, where major US indices were in risk-on mode.IG market analyst Yeap Jun Rong noted that easing concerns over a wider meltdown was at play, with gold prices also stagnating following a surge in the past week.“But the absence of a wider bearish move (in gold) suggests that the risk environment is still treading on some cautious optimism while dovish rate expectations also remain supportive of the yellow metal,” he added. The Shanghai Composite Index and South Korea’s Kospi both rose 0.7 percent on Friday. Japan’s Nikkei 225 was up 1.2 percent, while the Hang Seng Index ended the day 1.6 percent higher.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":213,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9943965585,"gmtCreate":1679050933148,"gmtModify":1679051022520,"author":{"id":"4108628974181100","authorId":"4108628974181100","name":"Rainbow99","avatar":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/128a74dd78c37d882e1d697e16d1e430","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4108628974181100","authorIdStr":"4108628974181100"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"C3.ai, Inc","listText":"C3.ai, Inc","text":"C3.ai, Inc","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":7,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9943965585","repostId":"1112158527","repostType":2,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":345,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9949268458,"gmtCreate":1678695812374,"gmtModify":1678696160306,"author":{"id":"4108628974181100","authorId":"4108628974181100","name":"Rainbow99","avatar":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/128a74dd78c37d882e1d697e16d1e430","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4108628974181100","authorIdStr":"4108628974181100"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Oops hope no more banks follow these 2 banks","listText":"Oops hope no more banks follow these 2 banks","text":"Oops hope no more banks follow these 2 banks","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9949268458","repostId":"1186439140","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1186439140","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Providing stock market headlines, business news, financials and earnings ","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Tiger Newspress","id":"1079075236","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8274c5b9d4c2852bfb1c4d6ce16c68ba"},"pubTimestamp":1678696696,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1186439140?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2023-03-13 16:38","market":"us","language":"en","title":"First Republic Bank Crashed Over 60% in Premarket Trading and Tumbled Over 70% in 3 Days After the SVB Crisis","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1186439140","media":"Tiger Newspress","summary":"First Republic Bank said on Friday their liquidity and deposits remained strong, aiming to calm inve","content":"

First Republic Bank said on Friday their liquidity and deposits remained strong, aiming to calm investors worried of a spill-over of risks from troubled startup focused-bank SVB Financial Group.

Stocks crashed over 60% in premarket trading and tumbled over 70% in 3 days.

","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; Taobao and Tmall are China's dominant e-commerce marketplaces in China.

Despite the scale of Alibaba's e-commerce operations, growth in the business has slowed.

Last quarter, revenue in Alibaba's China Commerce category fell 1% year-on-year, reflecting maturation in China's overall e-commerce sector but also the impact of the country's COVID curbs, stiff competition from rivals, and slowing economic growth.

Taobao Tmall Commerce Group will remain wholly owned by Alibaba Group after the restructuring, the company said, even as the other units will be free to seek fundraisings and listings.

It will be led by Trudy Dai, a member of Alibaba's founding team. Dai was appointed to lead the domestic e-commerce businesses in December 2021 when the company reorganised its international and local e-commerce businesses.

GLOBAL DIGITAL COMMERCE GROUP

Alibaba's Global Digital Commerce Group includes its overseas e-commerce marketplaces such as Lazada, which serves Southeast Asia, and AliExpress, which has become popular in Russia, Latin America, and parts of Europe.

These platforms face fierce local competition in the markets they operate in outside of China and make up just 8% of Alibaba's total sales.

However, together with Alibaba's other overseas e-commerce platforms, they are some of the company's fastest-growing divisions.

After the restructuring, the group's CEO will be Jiang Fan who had been leading Alibaba's international e-commerce businesses since December 2021. Jiang previously oversaw the Taobao and Tmall businesses.

CLOUD INTELLIGENCE GROUP

Alibaba's Cloud Intelligence Group includes Aliyun, the company's cloud computing unit. The company is the dominant player in China's domestic cloud computing sector, with a 36% market share, according to research firm Canalys.

The division is also home to DAMO Academy, Alibaba's research arm for chips and artificial intelligence, as well as Dingtalk, the company's workplace messaging app.

Alibaba recently confirmed that DAMO has begun testing a ChatGPT-esque app that it plans to integrate with Dingtalk.

Daniel Zhang, current chairman and CEO of Alibaba Group, will serve as CEO of the Cloud Intelligence Group.

LOCAL SERVICES GROUP

This division includes food and grocery delivery services such as Alibaba's Ele.me app as well as Amap, its mapping app.

Alibaba competes with Hong Kong-listed Meituan in the country's cut-throat food delivery sector.

According to research firms CBNData and Trustdata, in 2021 Ele.me occupied 27% of China's food delivery market compared to 67% from Meituan.

Local services currently make up just 5% of Alibaba's total revenue.

Its CEO will be Yu Yongfu.

CAINIAO SMART LOGISTICS

Alibaba formed Cainiao in 2013 by making investments in a number of Chinese logistics companies.

The unit is now a major logistics provider in its own right in China, serving both Alibaba and third-party customers.

Cainiao makes up 7% of Alibaba's total revenue.

Wan Lin will continue as Cainiao's CEO, the company said.

DIGITAL MEDIA AND ENTERTAINMENT GROUP

Alibaba's Digital Media and Entertainment Group will house Youku, the company's YouTube-esque streaming video site, as well as Alibaba Pictures, its film production unit.

The latter division scored a victory in 2019 when "Green Book," a road trip comedy movie it co-produced, won the Academy Award for Best Picture.

Its CEO will be Fan Luyuan.

","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; We urge people to be a little bit cautious, particularly until we hear what the Fed has to say.”Traders will watch out for the preliminary reading of the consumer sentiment index from the University of Michigan, as well as industrial and manufacturing production to get a better grasp on the economy ahead of the Fed’s meeting next week.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":481,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9948858139,"gmtCreate":1680679927221,"gmtModify":1680679931345,"author":{"id":"4108628974181100","authorId":"4108628974181100","name":"Rainbow99","avatar":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/128a74dd78c37d882e1d697e16d1e430","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"4108628974181100","idStr":"4108628974181100"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Noted with thanks","listText":"Noted with thanks","text":"Noted with thanks","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9948858139","repostId":"2324872695","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":452,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9949268458,"gmtCreate":1678695812374,"gmtModify":1678696160306,"author":{"id":"4108628974181100","authorId":"4108628974181100","name":"Rainbow99","avatar":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/128a74dd78c37d882e1d697e16d1e430","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"4108628974181100","idStr":"4108628974181100"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Oops hope no more banks follow these 2 banks","listText":"Oops hope no more banks follow these 2 banks","text":"Oops hope no more banks follow these 2 banks","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9949268458","repostId":"1186439140","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":456,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":282426737942776,"gmtCreate":1709980449568,"gmtModify":1709980453245,"author":{"id":"4108628974181100","authorId":"4108628974181100","name":"Rainbow99","avatar":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/128a74dd78c37d882e1d697e16d1e430","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"4108628974181100","idStr":"4108628974181100"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Diversifying is way to go for my investments 🌈","listText":"Diversifying is way to go for my investments 🌈","text":"Diversifying is way to go for my investments 🌈","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/282426737942776","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":319,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9941346262,"gmtCreate":1680007159957,"gmtModify":1680007163484,"author":{"id":"4108628974181100","authorId":"4108628974181100","name":"Rainbow99","avatar":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/128a74dd78c37d882e1d697e16d1e430","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"4108628974181100","idStr":"4108628974181100"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Interesting!","listText":"Interesting!","text":"Interesting!","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9941346262","repostId":"1130705713","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":396,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9943964040,"gmtCreate":1679051200081,"gmtModify":1679051304075,"author":{"id":"4108628974181100","authorId":"4108628974181100","name":"Rainbow99","avatar":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/128a74dd78c37d882e1d697e16d1e430","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"4108628974181100","idStr":"4108628974181100"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Despite volatile week, its 👍 stocks gained 0.9%.
