However, after the company announced a new stock offering right after the market closed on Monday, there's a possibility that the momentum is going to be short-lived due to the major dilution that comes with such an offering. Even if the offering is going to be fully completed it's still hard to imagine how the business would avoid bankruptcy due to the number of challenges that it faces.Bed Bath & Beyond's Stock Price (Seeking Alpha)The Story So FarProblems at Bed Bath & Beyond begana long time ago and only accumulated in recent months. In the latest Q3 earnings report for the quarter that ended on November 30, which was released with the delay this January, the company revealed that its sales have declined by 33% Y/Y to $1.26 billion while its net loss stood at $393 million against a net loss of $276 million a year ago. On top of that, the company's cash reserves decreased from $509 million a year ago to only $154 million at the end of November 2022. While its total liquidity at the end of November was around $500 million thanks to the FILO loan and the Asset Based Lending facility, Bed Bath & Beyond is still unlikely to execute a turnaround due to close to $2 billion in long-term debt, lack of inventory and negative cash flow from operations.As such, talks about the liquidity crunch began to take place in recent months since there was a risk that the company will fail to honor its obligations due to the lack of resources. At the beginning of January, Bloomberg reported that the company is looking for lenders that would be able to finance it during the bankruptcy proceedings. After failing to find anyone meaningful, the management noted two weeks ago that it doesn't have the resources to repay the amounts needed under its credit facilities which led to receiving a default notice from JPMorgan (JPM).Last Wednesday, Bed Bath & Beyond failed to pay ~$28 million in interest payments on its long-term debt and as a result, entered a 30-day grace period as it was preparing to seek bankruptcy protection. However, an unexpected event has occurred which could prevent the company from announcing bankruptcy in the following days.Meme Traders Strike BackWhile everyone was expecting the bankruptcy filing to come out at any time, Bed Bath & Beyond's stock once again managed to appreciate to exuberant levels on Monday rising from around $3.11 per share at the opening to as high as $7 per share at one time and closing close to $6 per share at the end of the trading session.All of this was possible thanks to the inflow of retail traders who began to acquire the stock en masse which led to a short squeeze similar to the one that happened last August when the share price appreciated from ~$6 per share to ~$23 per share in a matter of a couple of weeks before depreciating. It's easy to explain such interest to this particular stock. Back in August, there was a 103% short interest in Bed Bath & Beyond stock which attracted retail traders who managed to make a quick profit by squeezing the short sellers who were overexposed to the stock. Now there's a similar thing happening but the only different thing is that thecurrentshort interest in Bed Bath & Beyond stock is 46%.However, in addition to the relatively high short interest, the comeback of crypto coupled with dovish remarks of the Fed chairman Jerome Powell who began to talk about the beginning of the disinflationary process made it possible for the stock of the insolvent business such as Bed Bath & Beyond to nevertheless reach exuberant levels.The problem though is that if back in August the block sale of shares by a famous investor Ryan Cohen led to the overall depreciation of Bed Bath & Beyond shares then now it's the actions of the company's management itself that could kill the ongoing momentum.Right after the market closed on Monday, the company released a new filing in which it announced the issuance of Series A convertible preferred stock s and warrants to raise over $1 billion. There's no guarantee that it will be able to raise the full amount but by giving the ability to sell those assets at attractive prices it could nevertheless find buyers. At the same time, the company noted that it plans to use the proceeds from this offering to repay the missed interest payment on its senior notes by March 3 which should technically help it to exit the grace period and at the very least postpone its bankruptcy.The problem with this offering is that it extremely dilutes its current shareholders which could kill the overall momentum that the company's stock had so far. As the recent filing noted:The issuance of the securities in this offering will significantly dilute the ownership interest of the existing holders of our common stock, and the market price of our common stock will likely decline significantly as a result of sales of such securities into the public market by investors in this offering and subsequent investors or the perception that such sales may occur.What's Next?The fact that Bed Bath & Beyond stock is likely to be extremely diluted doesn't mean that there's no possibility that it won't appreciate further. In the past, companies like AMC (AMC) have been diluting their shareholders to repay their debts and it didn't stop the stock from further appreciating before finally depreciating as the macro environment changed.Considering that Bed Bath & Beyond has become a battleground stock as well, I won't take off the possibility of a further appreciation as underestimating the market's stupidity is one of the biggest mistakes one can make.However, over the longer term, it's safe to assume that the company would nevertheless go under. Even if the management manages to fully get the needed amount from the offering, the proceeds would nevertheless go to repay the existing debt which would leave little liquidity to transform the business. Considering that Q1 has historically been the worst quarter for the business, it's hard to imagine how the management would be able to improve the situation given the disastrous performance in the past.At the same time, at the current cash burn rate the company would likely be required to raise additional funds along the way which could lead to an additional dilution and a lack of returns for average investors as the risks of bankruptcy won't subside as well. As the management has noted in the latest filing:Trading in our securities is highly speculative, and we may be required to file for bankruptcy protection even if the Transactions are fully consummated.Therefore, I decided to avoid the stock whatsoever as the new offering has the potential to kill the ongoing momentum while the potential bankruptcy would more than likely lead to a full loss of the investment as common shareholders are unlikely to receive anything during the bankruptcy procedure.This article is written by Bohdan Kucheriavyi for reference only. S$0.055.</p><p>Fast forward to FY2022 and this dividend has increased to S$0.32, giving the bourse operator’s shares a trailing dividend yield of 3.5%.</p><p>SGX reported a decent set of earnings for FY2022, with revenue up 4% year on year to S$1.1 billion and net profit inching up 1% year on year to S$451 million.</p><h2><b>DBS Group (SGX: D05)</b></h2><p>DBS needs no introduction, being Singapore’s largest bank by market capitalisation.</p><p>The bank has been a solid payer of dividends all this while and back in FY2001, it paid out just S$0.26 in dividends.</p><p>Jumping ahead to today, the bank’s trailing 12-month dividend has increased significantly to S$1.44 per share.</p><p>Shares of the lender provide a trailing 12-month dividend yield of 4.3%.</p><p>DBS reported a sparklingset of earningsfor its fiscal 2022’s third quarter (3Q2022), with its net profit at an all-time high of S$2.2 billion.</p><h2><b>Parkway Life REIT (SGX: C2PU)</b></h2><p>Parkway Life REIT is a healthcare REIT that owns 61 properties comprising three hospitals in Singapore and 57 nursing homes in Japan, along with strata-titled units of a specialist centre in Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia.</p><p>The REIT has been paying out steady dividends since itsIPOback in FY2007.</p><p>Its annualised distribution per unit (DPU) in FY2007 was S$0.0632, and it has since more than doubled to S$0.1408 in FY2021.</p><p>The REIT has been paying out distributions for 15 solid years and looks set to continue.</p><p>For 3Q2022, gross revenue dipped by 1.3% year on year to S$89 million while net across eight countries.</p><p>The REIT paid out a DPU of S$0.0507 for FY2006, its first full year of distributions after its listing.</p><p>12 years later, its DPU has increased to S$0.08787.</p><p>For the first half of FY2023, MLT reported acommendable performanceand saw its DPU rise further by 4.2% year on year to S$0.04516.</p><h2><b>Frasers Centrepoint Trust (SGX: J69U)</b></h2><p>Frasers Centrepoint Trust, of FCT, is a retail REIT with a portfolio of nine suburban malls and an office building worth S$6.2 billion as of 30 September 2022 (FY2022).</p><p>For its first full year of distribution in FY2007, the REIT paid out a DPU of S$0.0655.</p><p>By FY2022, the DPU has nearly doubled to S$0.12227.</p><p>Units of the REIT offer a trailing distribution yield of 6%.</p><h2><b>Hongkong Land Holdings Limited (SGX: H78)</b></h2><p>Hongkong Land Holdings Limited, or HKL, is a property development, investment and management group that owns and manages more than 850,000 square metres of prime commercial and residential properties.</p><p>The group has been paying out consistent dividends for more than a decade.</p><p>Back in FY2011, the total dividend per share stood at US$0.16.</p><p>By FY2018, HKL’s annual dividend had increased to US$0.22 paid half-yearly and has remained constant since then despite the onset of the pandemic.</p><p>For the first For starters, the genesis of cloud computing spawned from the outdated way of storing data, namely on physical servers. As companies of all sizes collect, analyze, and synthesize more data, they rely more on storage. However, physical space is a finite resource and on-premise servers carry risks, such as overheating and lack of scalability. By contrast, storing data virtually (in the cloud) allows corporations to purchase more storage capacity as needed and scale more efficiently.Another end market that cloud computing touches is cybersecurity. Since data has become more important for business leaders to make decisions, hackers view it as a desirable asset. Many large companies, including Wells Fargo, Equifax, and others, have all been the victims of noteworthy data breaches. Moreover, as more people work from home, the need to keep company-issued devices, such as phones and laptops, safe and secure is a high priority. For starters, Amazon Web Services is nearly triple the size of Google Cloud Platform in terms of revenue. However, if we look underneath the hood, we can see that Google Cloud's quarterly revenue is growing at a much faster pace than Amazon Web Services. And although quarterly revenue-growth rates have been declining for both firms, Google Cloud is still generating nearly 40% annual growth compared to 30% for Amazon Web Services.Another thing we should focus on here is operating income. Amazon Web Services is consistently generating a profit, whereas Google Cloud continues to lose money.In a way, though, Google Cloud is almost operating like a start-up, and Amazon Web Services mimics more of a mature business. Part of the reason Google Cloud is losing money is because Alphabet has made some major acquisitions in the cloud space over the last year. As a result, Alphabet has ratcheted up hiring efforts for cloud developers and engineers, thereby incurring near-term costs.On the surface, these investments appear to be paying off in the form of increased demand. While Alphabet has poured billions into augmenting its cloud platform, the company continues to generate consistent top-line growth and move toward operating efficiency.A closer look at valuationWhen it comes to valuing mature businesses such as Alphabet or Amazon, using multiples such as price to earnings or price to sales are typically reasonable methods. However, for these two companies, investors can almost think of the respective cloud segments as businesses within a business. Not too long ago, hedge fund manager Dan Loeb used this methodology to explain why he believes Amazon is undervalued. At a high level, his approach was to isolate Amazon Web Services as its own entity, analyze the growth prospects, and assign an appropriate market multiple to derive a fair value of just the cloud business relative to Amazon's entire company, inclusive of e-commerce.As of Q3 2022, Google Cloud is operating at an annual revenue run-rate of nearly $28 billion. Amazon Web Services is closing in on $100 billion of annualized revenue, yet Google Cloud is growing much more quickly. At the time of this writing, Alphabet has a market capitalization of roughly $1.1 trillion. If Google Cloud represents even just 10% of this value, that implies the cloud could become Alphabet's next $100 billion revenue stream. However, given the rate at which cloud is growing, especially compared to legacy businesses such as advertising, Google Cloud is likely worth much more than 10% of Alphabet.For this reason, investors have an incredible opportunity right now to invest in a growing business inside of an already stable, blue-chip company. That compares with its forecast in August of $6.7 billion, plus or minus $200 million.</p><p>AMD is the latest chipmaker to be hit by the sector&#39;s slump. And skeptics are warning investors that negative economic fundamentals could overwhelm seasonal trends as what&#39;s traditionally the roughest period for equities comes to an end.</p><h2>Rough stretch</h2><p>U.S. stocks ended sharply lower on Friday, posting their worst skid in the first nine months of any year in two decades. The S&amp;P 500  recorded a monthly loss of 9.3%, its worst September performance since 2002. The Dow Jones Industrial Average  fell 8.8%, while the Nasdaq Composite  on Friday pushed its total monthly loss to 10.5%, according to Dow Jones Market Data.</p><p>The indexes had booked modest gains in the first half of the month after investors fully priced in a large interest-rate hike at the FOMC meeting late September as August&#39;s inflation data showed little sign of easing price pressures. However, the central bank&#39;s more-hawkish-than-expected stance caused stocks to give up all those early September gains. The Dow entered its first bear market since March 2020 in the last week of the month, while the benchmark S&amp;P slid to another 2022 low.</p><h2>Bear markets and midterms</h2><p>October&#39;s track record may offer some comfort as it has been a turnaround month, or a &#34;bear killer,&#34; according to the data from Stock Trader&#39;s Almanac.</p><p>&#34;Twelve post-WWII bear markets have ended in October: 1946, 1957, 1960, 1962, 1966, 1974, 1987, 1990, 1998, 2001, 2002 and 2011 (S&amp;P 500 declined 19.4%),&#34; wrote Jeff Hirsch, editor of the Stock Trader&#39;s Almanac, in a note on Thursday. &#34;Seven of these years were midterm bottoms.&#34;</p><p>Of course 2022 is also a midterm election year, with congressional elections coming up on Nov. 8.</p><p>According to Hirsch, Octobers in the midterm election years are &#34;downright stellar&#34; and usually where the &#34;sweet spot&#34; of the four-year presidential election cycle begins (see chart below).</p><p>&#34;The fourth quarter of the midterm years combines with the first and second quarters of the pre-election years for the best three consecutive quarter span for the market, averaging 19.3% for the DJIA and 20.0% for the S&amp;P 500 (since 1949), and an amazing 29.3% for NASDAQ (since 1971),&#34; wrote Hirsch.</p><p><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/5e12b4543bc89bc89d7601f09694c8c4\" tg-width=\"700\" tg-height=\"336\" width=\"100%\" height=\"auto\"/></p><h2>&#39;Atypical period&#39;</h2><p>Skeptics aren&#39;t convinced the pattern will hold true this October. Ralph Bassett, head of investments at Abrdn, an asset-management firm based in Scotland, said these dynamics could only play out in &#34;more normalized years.&#34;</p><p>&#34;This is just such an atypical period for so many reasons,&#34; Bassett told MarketWatch in a phone interview on Thursday. &#34;A lot of mutual funds have their fiscal year-end in October, so there tends to be a lot of buying and selling to manage tax losses. That&#39;s kind of something that we&#39;re going through and you have to be very sensitive to how you manage all of that.&#34;</p><p>An old Wall Street adage, &#34;Sell in May and go away,&#34; refers to the market&#39;s historical underperformance during the six-month period from May to October. Stock Trader&#39;s Almanac, which is credited with coining the saying, found investing in stocks from November to April and switching into fixed income the other six months would have &#34;produced reliable returns with reduced risk since 1950.&#34;</p><p>Strategists at Stifel, a wealth-management firm, contend the S&amp;P 500, which has fallen more than 23% from its Jan. 3 record finish, is in a bottoming process. They see positive catalysts between the fourth quarter of 2022 and the start of 2023 as Fed policy plus S&amp;P 500 negative seasonality are headwinds that should subside by then.</p><p>&#34;Monetary policy works with a six-month lag, and between the [Nov. 2] and [Dec. 14] final two Fed meetings of 2022, we do see subtle movement toward a data-dependent Fed pause which would bullishly allow investors to focus on (improving) inflation data rather than policy,&#34; wrote strategists led by Barry Bannister, chief equity strategist, in a recent note. &#34;This could reinforce positive market seasonality, which is historically strong for the S&amp;P 500 from November to April.&#34;</p><h2>October crashes</h2><p>Seasonal trends, however, aren&#39;t written in stone. Dow Jones Market Data found the S&amp;P 500 recorded positive returns between May and October in the past six years (see chart below).</p><p><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/ec700aa8aea3c05bd353dadb6dc79d9f\" tg-width=\"700\" tg-height=\"394\" width=\"100%\" height=\"auto\"/>Anthony Saglimbene, chief markets strategist at Ameriprise Financial, said there are periods in history where October could evoke fear on Wall Street as some large historical market crashes, including those in 1987 and 1929, occurred during the month. USA technology war, (1) a slowing semiconductor cycle (2), and the ongoing broad market sell-off that is especially brutal for technology firms (3), Intel (NASDAQ:INTC) and Nvidia (NASDAQ:NVDA) aregetting a lot of attention. Previously, I have claimed that Intel is a value trapand Nvidia is pressured by multi-faceted problems. At the same time, I argued that the valuation of both companies has about 30% downside.</p><p>Since my respective analyses, Intel is down about 18% and Nvidia has lost approximately 27%. As the valuations are slowly approaching my price targets, is there a dip buying opportunity for either Nvidia or Intel? Which stock is better positioned for a share-price rebound? In this article, I highlight a few arguments for consideration.</p><h2>Share Price Performance</h2><p>Before we look at financial metrics, let’s have a brief discussion about Nvidia and Intel&#39;s share price performance. This should serve as a reference that condenses multi-dimensional information into one single time-dependent path.</p><p>Year to date, both Nvidia and Intel have lost a material share of their respective equity value: INTC is down 45% versus a loss of 56% for NVDA. Although Intel is the market leader, the company has consistently lost share to AMD over the recent past</li><li>GPUs</li><li>Software products such as OneAPI suite, Command Center, XeSS, and more</li><li>Mobileye, which is Intel&#39;s own self-driving car project</li><li>Solutions for connectivity, including Intel Wi-Fi, Intel Ethernet, Killer and Thunderbolt</li><li>Supercomputers</li></ul><p>Arguably, Intel is also positioned to grow with the gaming industry, the cloud-computing and datacenter expansion, and the autonomous driving revolution. However, Intel&#39;s product strategy covers a much broader set of opportunities. This has been a challenge for the company in the past, as Intel has struggled to defend market share in most verticals and has lost technological edge against more focused players, such as Nvidia and AMD (AMD).</p><p>(2:0 for Nvidia)</p><h2>Growth</h2><p>Looking at the major structural trends in technology, notably AI computing (1), immersive gaming and the metaverse (2) and high-performance data-analytics (3), I argue Nvidia is better positioned than Intel to support the next-generation chip technology. This has been - and likely will continue to be - reflected in Nvidia&#39;s relative growth versus Intel.</p><p>With reference to the past 5 years, Nvidia has grown at an annual compounded growth rate of 25%, while over the same period Intel has grown at a less than 1% CAGR.</p><p>Moreover, according to analyst consensus estimates, this trend is expected to continue. The one-year forward year-over-year revenue growth for Nvidia is estimated at 24%, versus atopline contraction of 4% for Intel.</p><p>(3:0 for Nvidia)</p><h2>Profitability</h2><p>Both Nvidia and Intel operate a profitable business. But on a relative basis, Nvidia wins once more. For the trailing twelve months, Intel has claimed a gross profit margin of 50%, which is in line with the sector median. But Nvidia has achieved a 60% gross profit margin (20% higher than Intel). Also, the operating income margin (EBIT, TTM reference) is materially higher for Nvidia: 31% versus 17%.</p><p>In addition, investors should consider, that Nvidia operates much more capital efficient. Nvidia&#39;s return on capital is 16% (TTM reference), versus 6% for Intel respectively. Moreover, Nvidia generates double the net-income per employee: $344,000 versus $158,000.</p><h3>Intel Profitability</h3><h3><p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/c864452ec0f29c1b9c6935c91dd6dd9a\" tg-width=\"640\" tg-height=\"474\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer\"/><span>Seeking Alpha</span></p></h3><h3>Nvidia Profitability</h3><h3><p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/27640abaf74e7bdbca252859ca5b8803\" tg-width=\"640\" tg-height=\"474\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer\"/><span>Seeking Alpha</span></p></h3><p>(4:0 for Nvidia)</p><h2>Valuation</h2><p>Both stocks are down significantly YTD, so their price is much cheaper than it was only a few months ago. But on a relative basis, Intel trades cheap, while Nvidia expensive.</p><p>According to data compiled by Seeking Alpha, Intel is valued at a one-year forward P/E of x11. This implies a 46% discount to the sector. Nvidia&#39;s one year forward P/E is x72, which is a 247% premium respectively.</p><p>Accounting for financial leverage, the picture is a little more favorable for Nvidia. But the dispersion is still significant. Nvidia&#39;s one year forward EV/EBIT is x35 (123% premium to the sector) versus x12 for Intel (20% discount to the sector).</p><p>(4:1 for Nvidia)</p><h2>Conclusion</h2><p>Intel is cheaper than Nvidia. But Nvidia wins with regards to the company&#39;s product portfolio (1), business growth (2) and profitability (3). This has been reflected in the relative performance of NVDA vs. INTC, as NVDA has outperformed the latter by 3,240 percentage points.</p><p>To sum up the situation, as I see it, Nvidia is clearly taking advantage of emerging technology trends such as the metaverse and AI-computing, while Intel is playing a more defensive strategy. As a consequence, while the former is poised to claim massive new growth opportunities, the latter struggles to maintain market share. Previously, I have claimed that Intel is a value trapand Nvidia is pressured by multi-faceted problems. At the same time, I argued that the valuation of both companies has about 30% downside.Since my respective analyses, Intel is down about 18% and Nvidia has lost approximately 27%. As the valuations are slowly approaching my price targets, is there a dip buying opportunity for either Nvidia or Intel? Which stock is better positioned for a share-price rebound? In this article, I highlight a few arguments for consideration.Share Price PerformanceBefore we look at financial metrics, let’s have a brief discussion about Nvidia and Intel's share price performance. This should serve as a reference that condenses multi-dimensional information into one single time-dependent path.Year to date, both Nvidia and Intel have lost a material share of their respective equity value: INTC is down 45% versus a loss of 56% for NVDA. Accordingly, Intel performed slightly better.Seeking AlphaHowever, if an investor takes a more long-term perspective, then Nvidia is clearly the winner. Although Intel is the market leader, the company has consistently lost share to AMD over the recent pastGPUsSoftware products such as OneAPI suite, Command Center, XeSS, and moreMobileye, which is Intel's own self-driving car projectSolutions for connectivity, including Intel Wi-Fi, Intel Ethernet, Killer and ThunderboltSupercomputersArguably, Intel is also positioned to grow with the gaming industry, the cloud-computing and datacenter expansion, and the autonomous driving revolution. However, Intel's product strategy covers a much broader set of opportunities. This has been a challenge for the company in the past, as Intel has struggled to defend market share in most verticals and has lost technological edge against more focused players, such as Nvidia and AMD (AMD).(2:0 for Nvidia)GrowthLooking at the major structural trends in technology, notably AI computing (1), immersive gaming and the metaverse (2) and high-performance data-analytics (3), I argue Nvidia is better positioned than Intel to support the next-generation chip technology. This has been - and likely will continue to be - reflected in Nvidia's relative growth versus Intel.With reference to the past 5 years, Nvidia has grown at an annual compounded growth rate of 25%, while over the same period Intel has grown at a less than 1% CAGR.Moreover, according to analyst consensus estimates, this trend is expected to continue. The one-year forward year-over-year revenue growth for Nvidia is estimated at 24%, versus atopline contraction of 4% for Intel.(3:0 for Nvidia)ProfitabilityBoth Nvidia and Intel operate a profitable business. But on a relative basis, Nvidia wins once more. For the trailing twelve months, Intel has claimed a gross profit margin of 50%, which is in line with the sector median. But Nvidia has achieved a 60% gross profit margin (20% higher than Intel). Also, the operating income margin (EBIT, TTM reference) is materially higher for Nvidia: 31% versus 17%.In addition, investors should consider, that Nvidia operates much more capital efficient. Nvidia's return on capital is 16% (TTM reference), versus 6% for Intel respectively. Moreover, Nvidia generates double the net-income per employee: $344,000 versus $158,000.Intel ProfitabilitySeeking AlphaNvidia ProfitabilitySeeking Alpha(4:0 for Nvidia)ValuationBoth stocks are down significantly YTD, so their price is much cheaper than it was only a few months ago. But on a relative basis, Intel trades cheap, while Nvidia expensive.According to data compiled by Seeking Alpha, Intel is valued at a one-year forward P/E of x11. This implies a 46% discount to the sector. Nvidia's one year forward P/E is x72, which is a 247% premium respectively.Accounting for financial leverage, the picture is a little more favorable for Nvidia. But the dispersion is still significant. Nvidia's one year forward EV/EBIT is x35 (123% premium to the sector) versus x12 for Intel (20% discount to the sector).(4:1 for Nvidia)ConclusionIntel is cheaper than Nvidia. But Nvidia wins with regards to the company's product portfolio (1), business growth (2) and profitability (3). This has been reflected in the relative performance of NVDA vs. INTC, as NVDA has outperformed the latter by 3,240 percentage points.To sum up the situation, as I see it, Nvidia is clearly taking advantage of emerging technology trends such as the metaverse and AI-computing, while Intel is playing a more defensive strategy. S$0.055.</p><p>Fast forward to FY2022 and this dividend has increased to S$0.32, giving the bourse operator’s shares a trailing dividend yield of 3.5%.</p><p>SGX reported a decent set of earnings for FY2022, with revenue up 4% year on year to S$1.1 billion and net profit inching up 1% year on year to S$451 million.</p><h2><b>DBS Group (SGX: D05)</b></h2><p>DBS needs no introduction, being Singapore’s largest bank by market capitalisation.</p><p>The bank has been a solid payer of dividends all this while and back in FY2001, it paid out just S$0.26 in dividends.</p><p>Jumping ahead to today, the bank’s trailing 12-month dividend has increased significantly to S$1.44 per share.</p><p>Shares of the lender provide a trailing 12-month dividend yield of 4.3%.</p><p>DBS reported a sparklingset of earningsfor its fiscal 2022’s third quarter (3Q2022), with its net profit at an all-time high of S$2.2 billion.</p><h2><b>Parkway Life REIT (SGX: C2PU)</b></h2><p>Parkway Life REIT is a healthcare REIT that owns 61 properties comprising three hospitals in Singapore and 57 nursing homes in Japan, along with strata-titled units of a specialist centre in Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia.</p><p>The REIT has been paying out steady dividends since itsIPOback in FY2007.</p><p>Its annualised distribution per unit (DPU) in FY2007 was S$0.0632, and it has since more than doubled to S$0.1408 in FY2021.</p><p>The REIT has been paying out distributions for 15 solid years and looks set to continue.</p><p>For 3Q2022, gross revenue dipped by 1.3% year on year to S$89 million while net property income (NPI) inched up 0.1% year on year to S$82.8 million.</p><h2><b>Mapletree Logistics Trust (SGX: M44U)</b></h2><p>Mapletree Logistics Trust, or MLT, owns a portfolio of 186 properties across eight countries.</p><p>The REIT paid out a DPU of S$0.0507 for FY2006, its first full year of distributions after its listing.</p><p>12 years later, its DPU has increased to S$0.08787.</p><p>For the first half of FY2023, MLT reported acommendable performanceand saw its DPU rise further by 4.2% year on year to S$0.04516.</p><h2><b>Frasers Centrepoint Trust (SGX: J69U)</b></h2><p>Frasers Centrepoint Trust, of FCT, is a retail REIT with a portfolio of nine suburban malls and an office building worth S$6.2 billion as of 30 September 2022 (FY2022).</p><p>For its first full year of distribution in FY2007, the REIT paid out a DPU of S$0.0655.</p><p>By FY2022, the DPU has nearly doubled to S$0.12227.</p><p>Units of the REIT offer a trailing distribution yield of 6%.</p><h2><b>Hongkong Land Holdings Limited (SGX: H78)</b></h2><p>Hongkong Land Holdings Limited, or HKL, is a property development, investment and management group that owns and manages more than 850,000 square metres of prime commercial and residential properties.</p><p>The group has been paying out consistent dividends for more than a decade.</p><p>Back in FY2011, the total dividend per share stood at US$0.16.</p><p>By FY2018, HKL’s annual dividend had increased to US$0.22 paid half-yearly and has remained constant since then despite the onset of the pandemic.</p><p>For the first half of 2022 (1H2022), the property giant reported an 8% year on year rise in underlying net profit to US$425 million.</p><p>Its interim dividend was kept constant at US$0.06 per However, the pandemic boom is over, and despite having a great product, the company’s muddled outlook makes it an unattractive pick at current prices.Zoom’s software is incredibly robust, but with the emergence of multiple competitors in its niche, it’s not irreplicable. We are seeing the cracks already, with top-line growth slowing down in the past few quarters.Its first-quarter results for fiscal 2023 showed a 12.30% revenue bump, which pales in comparison to the 191.40% it posted in the same period last year. Moreover, Zoom isn’t like Microsoft, which could potentially offset losses from Teams with other more profitable products and services, which makes it one of the overrated stocks out there.Canoo(GOEV)Canoo (NASDAQ:GOEV)  is a pre-revenue electric vehicle startup that is burning through its cash balances at an aggressive pace.It warned investors that it has enough funds for six months to a year in its first quarter results. Though its stock price has lost most of its post-SPAC gains, it’s still trading at close to eight times forward sales estimates, which makes it among the overrated stocks to avoid.Its first-quarter results showed a massive increase in operational expenses from $140.8 million to $97.1 million in the same quarter last year.Net losses came in at $125.4 million, while free cash flows were at a negative $148.8 million.On top of that, management sounded the alarm over the company’s financial flexibility. These negative developments come at a time when Canoo is looking to ramp up production to meet its pre-orders.Rivian(RIVN)Rivian (NASDAQ:RIVN)  is another emerging EV company that captured Wall Street’s attention with its SUVs and electric pickup trucks.It went public via a reverse merger with a shell company in November last year and was soon valued at a whopping $83 billion. However, the stock has now lost its luster in line with the broader market. Nevertheless, it still trades at a nosebleed valuation, which its murky outlook can hardly justify.Rivian has run into familiar territory, as have many EV companies. However, after the company announced a new stock offering right after the market closed on Monday, there's a possibility that the momentum is going to be short-lived due to the major dilution that comes with such an offering. Even if the offering is going to be fully completed it's still hard to imagine how the business would avoid bankruptcy due to the number of challenges that it faces.Bed Bath & Beyond's Stock Price (Seeking Alpha)The Story So FarProblems at Bed Bath & Beyond begana long time ago and only accumulated in recent months. In the latest Q3 earnings report for the quarter that ended on November 30, which was released with the delay this January, the company revealed that its sales have declined by 33% Y/Y to $1.26 billion while its net loss stood at $393 million against a net loss of $276 million a year ago. On top of that, the company's cash reserves decreased from $509 million a year ago to only $154 million at the end of November 2022. While its total liquidity at the end of November was around $500 million thanks to the FILO loan and the Asset Based Lending facility, Bed Bath & Beyond is still unlikely to execute a turnaround due to close to $2 billion in long-term debt, lack of inventory and negative cash flow from operations.As such, talks about the liquidity crunch began to take place in recent months since there was a risk that the company will fail to honor its obligations due to the lack of resources. At the beginning of January, Bloomberg reported that the company is looking for lenders that would be able to finance it during the bankruptcy proceedings. After failing to find anyone meaningful, the management noted two weeks ago that it doesn't have the resources to repay the amounts needed under its credit facilities which led to receiving a default notice from JPMorgan (JPM).Last Wednesday, Bed Bath & Beyond failed to pay ~$28 million in interest payments on its long-term debt and as a result, entered a 30-day grace period as it was preparing to seek bankruptcy protection. However, an unexpected event has occurred which could prevent the company from announcing bankruptcy in the following days.Meme Traders Strike BackWhile everyone was expecting the bankruptcy filing to come out at any time, Bed Bath & Beyond's stock once again managed to appreciate to exuberant levels on Monday rising from around $3.11 per share at the opening to as high as $7 per share at one time and closing close to $6 per share at the end of the trading session.All of this was possible thanks to the inflow of retail traders who began to acquire the stock en masse which led to a short squeeze similar to the one that happened last August when the share price appreciated from ~$6 per share to ~$23 per share in a matter of a couple of weeks before depreciating. It's easy to explain such interest to this particular stock. Back in August, there was a 103% short interest in Bed Bath & Beyond stock which attracted retail traders who managed to make a quick profit by squeezing the short sellers who were overexposed to the stock. Now there's a similar thing happening but the only different thing is that thecurrentshort interest in Bed Bath & Beyond stock is 46%.However, in addition to the relatively high short interest, the comeback of crypto coupled with dovish remarks of the Fed chairman Jerome Powell who began to talk about the beginning of the disinflationary process made it possible for the stock of the insolvent business such as Bed Bath & Beyond to nevertheless reach exuberant levels.The problem though is that if back in August the block sale of shares by a famous investor Ryan Cohen led to the overall depreciation of Bed Bath & Beyond shares then now it's the actions of the company's management itself that could kill the ongoing momentum.Right after the market closed on Monday, the company released a new filing in which it announced the issuance of Series A convertible preferred stock s and warrants to raise over $1 billion. There's no guarantee that it will be able to raise the full amount but by giving the ability to sell those assets at attractive prices it could nevertheless find buyers. At the same time, the company noted that it plans to use the proceeds from this offering to repay the missed interest payment on its senior notes by March 3 which should technically help it to exit the grace period and at the very least postpone its bankruptcy.The problem with this offering is that it extremely dilutes its current shareholders which could kill the overall momentum that the company's stock had so far. As the recent filing noted:The issuance of the securities in this offering will significantly dilute the ownership interest of the existing holders of our common stock, and the market price of our common stock will likely decline significantly as a result of sales of such securities into the public market by investors in this offering and subsequent investors or the perception that such sales may occur.What's Next?The fact that Bed Bath & Beyond stock is likely to be extremely diluted doesn't mean that there's no possibility that it won't appreciate further. In the past, companies like AMC (AMC) have been diluting their shareholders to repay their debts and it didn't stop the stock from further appreciating before finally depreciating as the macro environment changed.Considering that Bed Bath & Beyond has become a battleground stock as well, I won't take off the possibility of a further appreciation as underestimating the market's stupidity is one of the biggest mistakes one can make.However, over the longer term, it's safe to assume that the company would nevertheless go under. Even if the management manages to fully get the needed amount from the offering, the proceeds would nevertheless go to repay the existing debt which would leave little liquidity to transform the business. Considering that Q1 has historically been the worst quarter for the business, it's hard to imagine how the management would be able to improve the situation given the disastrous performance in the past.At the same time, at the current cash burn rate the company would likely be required to raise additional funds along the way which could lead to an additional dilution and a lack of returns for average investors as the risks of bankruptcy won't subside as well.
