Here is a mid-year review of my five largest tech stocks.

Source: Netflix Media Centre

As an investor that has a more than 70% concentration of my portfolio in technology stocks, this year hasn’t been all roses and sunshine for me.

Just a few weeks ago, the S&P 500 Index entered a bear market after closing more than 22% below its all time high of 4,818.62 on 4 January 2022.

From the Russia-Ukraine war and COVID-related lockdowns in China that disrupted supply chains to the biggest interest rate hike since 1994, the blows just keep landing.

The worst mistake any investor can make is to sell their shares in panic when nothing is fundamentally wrong with the business.

We will now take a closer look at five technology companies within my portfolio.

Zoom Video (NASDAQ: ZM)

Zoom Video Communications, or Zoom, is a secure and reliable video communications platform that became a verb during the peak of the pandemic due to its popularity.

Its share price has fallen a long way since the all time high of US$588.84 on 19 October 2020.

As of 12th July, Zoom’s share price has fallen 41% year to date.

In its fiscal first quarter 2023 (1Q2023), revenue rose by 12% year on year to US$1.1 billion.

Zoom has seen momentum in Enterprise customers’ growth, with Enterprise revenue rising by 31% year on year to US$560 million during the quarter.

A closely-watched metric is Enterprise customers as it indicates the company’s efforts on growing the customer segment that contributes the bulk of its revenue.

The total number of Enterprise customers that contributed more than US$100,000 in annual billings grew 46% year on year to 2,916.

Source: Zoom, 1Q2023 earnings deck, >US$100k customers breakdown

For the coming quarters, a key aspect to watch will be how Zoom sells through other product offerings such as Zoom Contact Centre, Zoom Phone, Zoom Whiteboard, and Zoom IQ for sales teams.

Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA)

Tesla is one of the world’s largest all-electric vehicle companies through the sale of cars, pickup trucks in the United States, China, and other countries around the world.

Differing from most of the other automotive manufacturers that sell through franchised dealerships, Tesla sells its cars direct to consumers.

This prevents any potential conflicts of interests which may arise as Tesla owns the showrooms and customers deal only with its staff.

Tesla also sells directly through the internet to consumers where a Tesla can be customised online.

In 1Q2022, Tesla reported an 81% year on year growth in total revenue to US$18.7 billion, and net income rose more than seven-fold to US$3.3 billion.

This growth was largely attributable to increased vehicle deliveries, which grew 68% year on year to 310,048 in 1Q2022.

Tesla also cited increased average selling price as one of the factors contributing to the increased revenue seen, which suggests to me they have strong pricing power.

On 2 July, Tesla released its 2Q2022’s vehicle production and delivery numbers of (Production: 258,580, Deliveries: 254,695), which caused a temporary sell off as investors started to compare it with the production and delivery numbers seen in 1Q2022.

Source: Tesla, 1Q2022 update, 2Q2022 production and delivery update

Although it seems that there is a 17.9% decline in vehicle delivery numbers between 1Q2022 and 2Q2022, investors should note that the delivery numbers are still 26.5% higher than that of 2Q2021.

With its commitment to achieve 50% average annual growth in vehicle deliveries, and seeing what increased delivery numbers mean for its revenue and net income, I remain a patient investor in Tesla.

Tesla’s full set of 2Q2022 numbers will be announced on 20th July, after the US market closes.

Netflix (NASDAQ: NFLX)

Netflix is one of the world’s largest streaming media and entertainment services companies, with 222 million paid memberships in over 190 countries.

Netflix surged to dominance similarly during the COVID-19 period when most countries were on lockdown.

Over the years, it has consistently produced great content that hooked viewers, with popular TV series Stranger Things, Squid Game and Money Heist etc.

With the current bear market and tech sell off that we witnessed not too long ago, the stock has also fallen 70.8% year to date (12 July 2022’s closing price).

Netflix’s 1Q2022 Here is a mid-year review of my five largest tech stocks.Source: Netflix Media CentreAs an investor that has a more than 70% concentration of my portfolio in technology stocks, this year hasn’t been all roses and sunshine for me.Just a few weeks ago, the S&P 500 Index entered a bear market after closing more than 22% below its all time high of 4,818.62 on 4 January 2022.From the Russia-Ukraine war and COVID-related lockdowns in China that disrupted supply chains to the biggest interest rate hike since 1994, the blows just keep landing. The worst mistake any investor can make is to sell their shares in panic when nothing is fundamentally wrong with the business. We will now take a closer look at five technology companies within my portfolio.Zoom Video (NASDAQ: ZM)Zoom Video Communications, or Zoom, is a secure and reliable video communications platform that became a verb during the peak of the pandemic due to its popularity. Its share price has fallen a long way since the all time high of US$588.84 on 19 October 2020.As of 12th July, Zoom’s share price has fallen 41% year to date.In its fiscal first quarter 2023 (1Q2023), revenue rose by 12% year on year to US$1.1 billion.Zoom has seen momentum in Enterprise customers’ growth, with Enterprise revenue rising by 31% year on year to US$560 million during the quarter.A closely-watched metric is Enterprise customers as it indicates the company’s efforts on growing the customer segment that contributes the bulk of its revenue. The total number of Enterprise customers that contributed more than US$100,000 in annual billings grew 46% year on year to 2,916.Source: Zoom, 1Q2023 earnings deck, >US$100k customers breakdownFor the coming quarters, a key aspect to watch will be how Zoom sells through other product offerings such as Zoom Contact Centre, Zoom Phone, Zoom Whiteboard, and Zoom IQ for sales teams.Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA)Tesla is one of the world’s largest all-electric vehicle companies through the sale of cars, pickup trucks in the United States, China, and other countries around the world.Differing from most of the other automotive manufacturers that sell through franchised dealerships, Tesla sells its cars direct to consumers. This prevents any potential conflicts of interests which may arise as Tesla owns the showrooms and customers deal only with its staff.Tesla also sells directly through the internet to consumers where a Tesla can be customised online. In 1Q2022, Tesla reported an 81% year on year growth in total revenue to US$18.7 billion, and net income rose more than seven-fold to US$3.3 billion. This growth was largely attributable to increased vehicle deliveries, which grew 68% year on year to 310,048 in 1Q2022.Tesla also cited increased average selling price as one of the factors contributing to the increased revenue seen, which suggests to me they have strong pricing power. On 2 July, Tesla released its 2Q2022’s vehicle production and delivery numbers of (Production: 258,580, Deliveries: 254,695), which caused a temporary sell off as investors started to compare it with the production and delivery numbers seen in 1Q2022.Source: Tesla, 1Q2022 update, 2Q2022 production and delivery updateAlthough it seems that there is a 17.9% decline in vehicle delivery numbers between 1Q2022 and 2Q2022, investors should note that the delivery numbers are still 26.5% higher than that of 2Q2021.With its commitment to achieve 50% average annual growth in vehicle deliveries, and seeing what increased delivery numbers mean for its revenue and net income, I remain a patient investor in Tesla.Tesla’s full set of 2Q2022 numbers will be announced on 20th July, after the US market closes.Netflix (NASDAQ: NFLX)Netflix is one of the world’s largest streaming media and entertainment services companies, with 222 million paid memberships in over 190 countries.Netflix surged to dominance similarly during the COVID-19 period when most countries were on lockdown.Over the years, it has consistently produced great content that hooked viewers, with popular TV series Stranger Things, Squid Game and Money Heist etc. With the current bear market and tech sell off that we witnessed not too long ago, the stock has also fallen 70.8% year to date (12 July 2022’s closing price).Netflix’s 1Q2022 revenue rose 9.8% year on year to US$7.9 billion, while net income for the same period declined 6.8% year on year to US$1.6 billion. In its 1Q2022 earnings call, Netflix reported a loss of 200,000 subscribers compared with its previous quarter and mentioned that it is guiding for a two million loss in subscribers for its second quarter.Although the market didn’t react well to this news, there is justification for this guidance and the plans that Netflix has laid out seemed fair.Netflix is looking to introduce more controls to prevent password sharing outside the household.More than 100 million households are piggy backing on other paid subscribersThese free loaders are active users as well, so it is reasonable for Netflix to levy an introductory charge on this base of customers.Such a move, if successful, could open up an additional revenue stream for the streaming giant. To combat the fierce competition from the likes of Walt Disney (NYSE: DIS) and Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN), Netflix is looking to offer lower-cost plans with advertising. This is a win-win model that would not only attract and retain budget-constrained subscribers, but also introduce new revenue streams for the company.DocuSign (NASDAQ: DOCU)DocuSign is an e-signature platform provider that enables organisations to automate, sign, and manage agreements electronically across practically any smart device. It is the world’s number one e-signature solution with a strong base of 1.24 million customers. For its 1Q2023 ended 30 April 2022, DocuSign reported revenue growth of 25% year on year to US$589 million.Gross margin was 81%, with operating margin 17% for 1Q2023.Alongside these strong margins, DocuSign also commands a high net dollar retention rate of 114%.DocuSign spooked the market when it announced weak guidance for 2Q2023’s billings, between the range of US$599 million to US$609 million. The market felt that this forecasted increase, even at the top end of its range, was only 2.3% higher than 2Q2022’s US$595.4 million. That said, looking at the explosive growth in its total customer base, which has a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 40% from FY2013 to 1Q2023, monetisation opportunities are still plenty for DocuSign. In addition, its strength in gaining enterprise customers that spend more than US$300,000 a year, also saw a CAGR of 44% from FY2013 to 886 in 1Q2023.Source: DocuSign, 1Q2023 earnings release, customer base breakdownLast but not least, the strategic partnership that DocuSign announced with Microsoft (NASDAQ: MFST), which will see integration of cross products, means there will be extra momentum that will come from the Enterprise segment.Apple (NASDAQ: APPL)Apple is a company that needs no further introduction. It changed the entire era of smartphones and is now one of the most valuable brands in the world. It is also the largest contributor to the S&P 500 index.Apple has a strong base of loyal customers and has, over years, created a strong and interlinked ecosystem of products and services on the back of the success of the iPhone. In its 2Q2022 earnings, we saw how Apple outperformed analysts’ expectations by reporting revenue of US$97.3 billion, above the US$94 billion that was forecasted. As the COVID-related supply chain woes in China ease, Apple will benefit from the effect in the next few quarters. As an investor, Apple’s main draw is the ability to innovate and cross sell its other services and products together directly to a strong and loyal customer base.Although word on the street is pointing at Apple’s possible release of a virtual reality headset, what is certain is that when Apple launches it, this will likely be tied in with services revenue.Services Revenue was Apple’s fastest growing segment as of 2Q2022 (+17% year on year), with revenue of US$19.8 billion.Final ThoughtsAlthough most of the stocks above did fall from a high, a closer look at each stock provides assurance that the business behind each company is doing fine.It is hard not to feel affected when the same stocks were registering more than 100% gains, but as a long term investor, I’m in for the long term, and I’ll likely strategically add on to these positions whenever there’s a chance.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":118,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9044686842,"gmtCreate":1656744545186,"gmtModify":1676535888712,"author":{"id":"4118674325049632","authorId":"4118674325049632","name":"Evangee","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":4,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4118674325049632","authorIdStr":"4118674325049632"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Interesting","listText":"Interesting","text":"Interesting","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9044686842","repostId":"1165607618","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1165607618","pubTimestamp":1656631842,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1165607618?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-07-01 07:30","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Bank of America’s Crypto Users Shrunk by 50% in Bear Market","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1165607618","media":"Bloomberg","summary":"Crypto comprises less than 1% of US household financial assetsSentiment toward cryptocurrencies has ","content":"

Crypto comprises less than 1% of US household financial assets

Sentiment toward cryptocurrencies has soured, says BofA

The number of active cryptocurrency users at Bank of America has declined by more than half amid the prolonged rout in the digital-asset market.

The bank’s crypto users shrunk to below 500,000 in May from more than 1 million in November 2021, when Bitcoin and some other tokens hit all-time highs. While Bank of America’s data doesn’t offer a comprehensive view of all crypto users, it can be reflective of broader trends in the space.Source: Bank of America Source: BloombergCryptocurrencies, like other riskier assets, have suffered in a tighter monetary-policy environment, where the Federal Reserve and other central banks are raising interest rates to slow down growth and dampen rising prices. The market capitalization of cryptocurrencies has dropped to less than $1 trillion, from a peak of about $3 trillion in November 2021.Source: BloombergAmid these conditions, sentiment toward digital assets has also fallen. Between April and June, Bank of America saw a rise to 30% from 21% in those saying they haven’t invested in the space and have no plans to do so.Still, the wider effects of the crypto-market slump might not be detrimental to the broader economy. Crypto assets comprise less than 1% of overall US household financial assets, Bank of America said, suggesting that “relatively few people view crypto assets as a reliable long-term investment.”","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":84,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9044686135,"gmtCreate":1656744532827,"gmtModify":1676535888705,"author":{"id":"4118674325049632","authorId":"4118674325049632","name":"Evangee","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":4,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4118674325049632","authorIdStr":"4118674325049632"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Interesting","listText":"Interesting","text":"Interesting","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9044686135","repostId":"1175604479","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":233,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9044686300,"gmtCreate":1656744510500,"gmtModify":1676535888704,"author":{"id":"4118674325049632","authorId":"4118674325049632","name":"Evangee","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":4,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4118674325049632","authorIdStr":"4118674325049632"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Interesting","listText":"Interesting","text":"Interesting","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9044686300","repostId":"2248834093","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":216,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9044686925,"gmtCreate":1656744479067,"gmtModify":1676535888720,"author":{"id":"4118674325049632","authorId":"4118674325049632","name":"Evangee","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":4,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4118674325049632","authorIdStr":"4118674325049632"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Intresting","listText":"Intresting","text":"Intresting","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9044686925","repostId":"1138808118","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":72,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9044688434,"gmtCreate":1656744466328,"gmtModify":1676535888697,"author":{"id":"4118674325049632","authorId":"4118674325049632","name":"Evangee","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":4,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4118674325049632","authorIdStr":"4118674325049632"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Interesting","listText":"Interesting","text":"Interesting","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9044688434","repostId":"1171737708","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":221,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9044688523,"gmtCreate":1656744448562,"gmtModify":1676535888689,"author":{"id":"4118674325049632","authorId":"4118674325049632","name":"Evangee","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":4,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4118674325049632","authorIdStr":"4118674325049632"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Interesting","listText":"Interesting","text":"Interesting","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9044688523","repostId":"2248325428","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2248325428","pubTimestamp":1656653342,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2248325428?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-07-01 13:29","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Could This Send Moderna's Stock Soaring Back to $400?","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2248325428","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"The healthcare stock last hit the $400 mark in September.","content":"

Shares of Moderna (MRNA 1.06%) have been plummeting in recent months. Although the market as a whole hasn't done well, the healthcare stock's 43% decline this year is far worse than the 19% drop that the S&P 500 has endured over the same period. As concerns shift from COVID-19 and onto inflation, investors have become less bullish on Moderna's stock. It also doesn't help that Novavax could obtain Emergency Use Authorization for its vaccine any day now.

But there is a catalyst that could change the stock's fortunes, one that could extend the prospects of Moderna generating COVID-19 revenue for the foreseeable future.

Moderna's new booster is effective in treating subvariants

One of the most frustrating things about COVID-19 is that there are so many variants to track. And it's difficult, if not impossible, to know which ones may cause serious problems for the world and which ones won't. Omicron was a significant variant when it emerged in November, and that prompted Moderna to create a booster shot which targeted that variant.

In March, the company began dosing participants with a new shot that combined its existing mRNA vaccine along with an omicron-specific booster. And on June 22, the healthcare company released findings from its bivalent booster candidate, mRNA-1273.214. The results were promising as the shot was effective against subvariants of omicron -- BA.4 and BA.5, which CEO Stéphane Bancel says "represent an emergent threat to global public health." Moderna is working on submitting the data to regulators in the hopes that its new booster could become available in August.

Could this spark the stock?

Since releasing the results, Moderna's stock has been the upswing. From a price of just under $130 on June 21, the healthcare stock nearly hit $150 this week. If the FDA ends up approving the shot, it could lift shares even higher. The shot could be key in preventing a resurgence of cases heading into the Fall.

The question, however, is how high the stock may rise. That will ultimately come down to a number of factors, including if COVID-19 case numbers spike and whether that creates significant demand for the new booster. If that does end up happening, then given how volatile the stock market has been over the past year, it's certainly not impossible to see a scenario where the stock could get back up to $400. And in the longer term, any additional revenue for Moderna could set the stock up for more gains down the road.

Moderna's COVID-19 vaccine has resulted in some terrific profits for the company (and gains for investors), with its net income over the trailing 12 months totaling $14.6 billion on revenue of $22.6 billion. Free cash flow has also been impressive at more than $13 billion. Anything that can help bolster these numbers will put Moderna in a stronger position to fund its future growth and potentially enable it to pursue acquisitions.

Should you buy Moderna's stock?

There's plenty of potential for Moderna, but there are also many question marks. That makes assessing the stock's value a challenge for investors. Even analysts have varying opinions, with some projecting the stock to rise to more than $200 while SVB Leerink expects the stock could crash to $70. Most are not bullish enough, however, to set price targets of even $300, let alone $400. A lot would undoubtedly need to go right for the company for Moderna's stock to reach those levels again.

While there is some promise for this new booster, that alone will likely not be enough to send Moderna's stock soaring. As a result, investors are better off waiting on the sidelines for now as this remains an incredibly volatile stock that may be too risky to be holding right now.

","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Could This Send Moderna's Stock Soaring Back to $400?
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nCould This Send Moderna's Stock Soaring Back to $400?\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2022-07-01 13:29 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Shares of Moderna (MRNA 1.06%) have been plummeting in recent months. Since becoming CEO of conglomerate Berkshire Hathaway in 1965, the Oracle of Omaha, as he's come to be known, has created more than $610 billion in value for shareholders and delivered an aggregate return on his company's Class A shares (BRK.A) of 3,641,613%, through Dec. 31, 2021.

Even though Buffett isn't infallible, riding his coattails has been a proven recipe to outperform the benchmark S&P 500 for more than a half-century.

Berkshire Hathaway CEO Warren Buffett. Image source: The Motley Fool.

As we push into the second half of what's been an exceptionally volatile and challenging year for investors, several Berkshire Hathaway holdings stand out as amazing values. The following three Warren Buffett stocks can all be confidently bought hand over fist in July.

Bank of America

The first Buffett stock that's begging to be bought in July is money-center giant Bank of America.

Usually, bank stocks are an industry to avoid when the broader market is mired in a double-digit decline. However, this time is different. It's the first time ever that the U.S.'s central bank has aggressively raised interest rates into a plunging stock market.

Under normal circumstances, we'd expect the Federal Reserve to lower interest rates in order to spur lending and support the U.S. economy and stock market. Doing so lowers the net-interest-income-earning potential for bank stocks like BofA. But with the Fed increasing its fed funds target rate by 150 basis points in just the past three meetings, bank stocks are poised to benefit from a significant uptick in net-interest income.

Among big-bank stocks, none is more interest-sensitive than Bank of America. In April, when the company reported its first-quarter operating results, BofA noted it would generate an estimated $5.4 billion in added net-interest income with a 100-basis-point parallel shift in the interest rate yield curve. By 2022's end, we could see a 300-basis-point (or higher) jump in the fed funds rate.

Bank of America has also benefited from its consistent investments in technology and digitization. Over a three-year stretch, the number of active digital users has grown by 5 million to 42 million. More importantly, 53% of all first-quarter loan sales were completed online or via mobile app, which is up from 30% in the comparable quarter in 2019. Digital sales are considerably cheaper for the company than in-person or phone-based interactions. It's this digital push that's allowed BofA to consolidate some of its branches to lower its noninterest expenses.

If you need one more good reason to sink your teeth into Bank of America, take a closer look at its valuation. Whereas most companies are likely to endure a near-term earnings decline, BofA's earnings per share could grow by close to 20% in 2023. With shares trading close to book value and roughly eight times Wall Street's forecast earnings for the upcoming year, Bank of America just might be the best deal in Buffett's entire portfolio.

Activision Blizzard

A second Warren Buffett stock investors can confidently scoop up in July is gaming giant Activision Blizzard.

Like most tech stocks, Activision has a cloud of uncertainty following it. However, it has its own unique set of concerns beyond just historically high inflation, the rising prospect of a domestic recession, and rising interest rates closing off access to historically cheap capital. In Activision's case, it's faced multiple lawsuits covering allegations of discrimination and sexual harassment in the workplace.

To make matters worse, the company delayed the release of a number of key games expected to drive new users into its ecosystem. First-person shooter game Overwatch 2 and action role-playing game Diablo IV had their respective release dates pushed back to the fourth quarter of 2022 and sometime in 2023.

However, these snafus have arguably rolled out the red carpet for opportunistic investors. For instance, the company's litigation should be resolved soon.

Activision ended March with 372 million monthly active users (MAUs). Although down from the year-ago period, MAUs tied to its King subsidiary, the home of Candy Crush, have held up particularly well. The upcoming releases of key games in the second half of 2022 and into 2023 should reignite MAU growth in the Activision segment.

Even more important is the fact that Microsoft has made a $68.7 billion all-cash offer to acquire Activision Blizzard at $95 a share. Aside from becoming even more influential in the gaming space with this deal, Microsoft plans to use Activision as a launching point to further its metaverse ambitions. The metaverse is the next iteration of the internet, which allows connected users to interact with each other and their surroundings in 3D virtual worlds.

Thus far, it doesn't appear that Activision and Microsoft have run into snags with U.S. regulators regarding the deal. This is noteworthy given that Activision Blizzard's stock ended last week below $78 a share. If Microsoft closes this deal in 2022, as anticipated, Activision shareholders could nab a quick 22% arbitrage opportunity. This is precisely why Warren Buffett's company purchased a roughly 9.5% stake in Activision.

The Wuling Hong Guang Mini Cabrio EV. Image source: General Motors.

General Motors

A third and final Warren Buffett stock to buy hand over fist in July is automaker General Motors.

You could say that what can go wrong has gone wrong for the auto industry in 2022. Semiconductor chip shortages and COVID-19 lockdowns in select international markets, such as China, have disrupted supply chains. Historically high inflation on the materials used to make vehicles is eating into auto margins. Yet in spite of these headwinds, GM has the drive to make long-term investors richer.

After many years of waiting on the next big organic growth opportunity for auto stocks, it's finally arrived. The electrification of automobiles should result in consumers and businesses changing or upgrading vehicles for decades to come.

For its part, General Motors has spared no expense. The company anticipates spending an aggregate of $35 billion through 2025 on electric vehicles (EVs), autonomous vehicles, and batteries. It expects to have two fully dedicated battery plants up and running by the end of next year, with a goal of producing at least 1 million EVs annually in North America by 2025. In total, 30 new EVs are expected to be launched globally by the end of 2025.

Initial figures suggest there's a lot of interest in GM's EV products. 31, 2021.Even though Buffett isn't infallible, riding his coattails has been a proven recipe to outperform the benchmark S&P 500 for more than a half-century.Berkshire Hathaway CEO Warren Buffett. Image source: The Motley Fool.As we push into the second half of what's been an exceptionally volatile and challenging year for investors, several Berkshire Hathaway holdings stand out as amazing values. The following three Warren Buffett stocks can all be confidently bought hand over fist in July.Bank of AmericaThe first Buffett stock that's begging to be bought in July is money-center giant Bank of America.Usually, bank stocks are an industry to avoid when the broader market is mired in a double-digit decline. However, this time is different. It's the first time ever that the U.S.'s central bank has aggressively raised interest rates into a plunging stock market.Under normal circumstances, we'd expect the Federal Reserve to lower interest rates in order to spur lending and support the U.S. economy and stock market. Doing so lowers the net-interest-income-earning potential for bank stocks like BofA. But with the Fed increasing its fed funds target rate by 150 basis points in just the past three meetings, bank stocks are poised to benefit from a significant uptick in net-interest income.Among big-bank stocks, none is more interest-sensitive than Bank of America. In April, when the company reported its first-quarter operating results, BofA noted it would generate an estimated $5.4 billion in added net-interest income with a 100-basis-point parallel shift in the interest rate yield curve. By 2022's end, we could see a 300-basis-point (or higher) jump in the fed funds rate.Bank of America has also benefited from its consistent investments in technology and digitization. With shares trading close to book value and roughly eight times Wall Street's forecast earnings for the upcoming year, Bank of America just might be the best deal in Buffett's entire portfolio.Activision BlizzardA second Warren Buffett stock investors can confidently scoop up in July is gaming giant Activision Blizzard.Like most tech stocks, Activision has a cloud of uncertainty following it. First-person shooter game Overwatch 2 and action role-playing game Diablo IV had their respective release dates pushed back to the fourth quarter of 2022 and sometime in 2023.However, these snafus have arguably rolled out the red carpet for opportunistic investors. For instance, the company's litigation should be resolved soon.Activision ended March with 372 million monthly active users (MAUs). Although down from the year-ago period, MAUs tied to its King subsidiary, the home of Candy Crush, have held up particularly well. The upcoming releases of key games in the second half of 2022 and into 2023 should reignite MAU growth in the Activision segment.Even more important is the fact that Microsoft has made a $68.7 billion all-cash offer to acquire Activision Blizzard at $95 a share. Image source: General Motors.General MotorsA third and final Warren Buffett stock to buy hand over fist in July is automaker General Motors. In total, 30 new EVs are expected to be launched globally by the end of 2025.Initial figures suggest there's a lot of interest in GM's EV products. When GM released its first-quarter operating results on April 26, CEO Mary Barra noted in her letter to shareholders that approximately 140,000 retail reservations for the Chevy Silverado EV had already been placed. The Silverado EV was only introduced by Barra in January 2022.General Motors also has a real shot to become a key player in China's EV market. China is the largest auto market in the world. As of Q1 FY 2023, the company reported an ARR of $1.9 billion on 61% year-over-year (YoY) growth.SaaS metrics off the chartSaaS companies also have other standards that are used to measure performance. Some of these include:Dollar-based net retention rates (DBNR)Gross customer retentionGross marginsThe DBNR measures the change in the average customer spending with the company over time. This way, we can judge how effectively management grows sales among existing clients. Any value over 100% indicates success, and CrowdStrike reports a number consistently above 120%.It is also essential that CrowdStrike keep its current customers. The company's gross retention rate is above 98%, which is tough to beat.Gross margin is a key profitability measure as many fast-growing SaaS companies are not yetGAAP(generally accepted accounting principles) profitable. A high gross margin indicates an ability to scale effectively. CrowdStrike's overall gross margin of 77% compares well with competitors like Zscaler, which comes in a touch higher at 78%, and SentinelOne at 63%.Each of these metrics indicated a bright future for CrowdStrike.Getting in at the right priceThe beauty of growth stocks is that investors can afford to be patient. There are no rising dividends to miss out on, and they tend to be more volatile than other stocks. Investors should consider where they feel shares will offer good value and be ready to pounce when they drop. We generally aren't going to catch the absolute bottom, so a few tiered limit orders may be the way to go.CrowdStrike is currently trading for a price-to-sales (P/S) ratio of 24. Given the rising rates and recession fears, this could be too high for the current market. Growth-stock competitor Zscaler is trading a bit lower, while other more established cybersecurity companies are trading much lower, as shown below.CRWD PS RATIO DATA BY YCHARTS.CrowdStrike does deserve a slight premium due to its tremendous growth rate; however, a P/S ratio between 15 and 20 would offer investors better value. Given the persistent downward pressure in the chart above, investors may have the chance to capitalize soon.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":221,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9044686842,"gmtCreate":1656744545186,"gmtModify":1676535888712,"author":{"id":"4118674325049632","authorId":"4118674325049632","name":"Evangee","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":4,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4118674325049632","authorIdStr":"4118674325049632"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Interesting","listText":"Interesting","text":"Interesting","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9044686842","repostId":"1165607618","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":84,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9044686135,"gmtCreate":1656744532827,"gmtModify":1676535888705,"author":{"id":"4118674325049632","authorId":"4118674325049632","name":"Evangee","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":4,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4118674325049632","authorIdStr":"4118674325049632"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Interesting","listText":"Interesting","text":"Interesting","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9044686135","repostId":"1175604479","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1175604479","pubTimestamp":1656634692,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1175604479?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-07-01 08:18","language":"en","title":"ASX Opens 0.6% Higher; Wall St Caps Horror First Half","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1175604479","media":"Australian Financial Review","summary":"The S&P/ASX 200 has started the new financial year on positive footing, advancing 0.6 per cent, or 4","content":"

The S&P/ASX 200 has started the new financial year on positive footing, advancing 0.6 per cent, or 41.4 points, to 6609.5 in the opening minutes of trade.

Nine sharemarket sectors were higher, with the materials and energy sectors the only two sectors in the red following a fall in commodity prices.

Brambles jumped 4.9 per cent to $11.23 after announcing late yesterday that it is pulling the pin on an investment in a pool of plastic pallets to be used in the supply chain for the warehouse stores of US retailer Costco.

Regis Resources climbed 7.7 per cent to $1.40. Though demand could recover into summer, a slow and steady tumble into a winter recession could weigh heavily on discretionary firms like Airbnb.Shares of popular alternative accommodations platform Airbnb (ABNB) have already seen its stock deflate in price, plunging around 55% from its peak hit just last year. From COVID pandemic headwinds to fears of an economic downturn, the travel industry cannot seem to catch any break.With a Federal Reserve raising rates to curb inflation, prospective travelers may find they’re short of discretionary income in the second half of 2022. Inflation has already weighed heavily on consumer wallets. As prices continue to rise while employment takes a few steps back, travel demand could be in for a milder repeat of the downturn experienced in 2020.Further, the pandemic is still ongoing, with new variants that could strike as soon as autumn. Though booster shots and oral treatments could prevent another horrific lockdown in America, investors should be ready for anything. Indeed, the last two and a half years have been incredibly humbling for investors and analysts.Though Airbnb stock seems cheap, COVID risks, I believe, are still discounted as the economy opens its doors even wider for the summer travel season. The summertime could be prosperous for travelers who have not met their pent-up travel demand since the pandemic began. Prices for a wide range of travel hotspots have been soaring, thanks in part to higher inflation, but mainly due to demand which could stay hot.Looking ahead, Airbnb may enjoy a nice boost from robust demand for homestays and vacation rentals. That said, the winter that follows could weigh heavily, especially if evidence of a recession were to grow.Now, Airbnb is a great company with an enviable lead in alternative accommodations. That said, the stock still trades at a lofty multiple, leaving it vulnerable as the market seeks to punish high-multiple tech stocks and economically-sensitive firms.For Airbnb stock, such a punishment could act as a one-two punch to the chin. For now, I am bearish on ABNB stock, given rising recession risks.On TipRanks, ABNB scores a 3 out of 10 on the Smart Score spectrum. This indicates a potential for the stock to underperform the broader market.Travel Demand Stays Robust, But Storm Clouds are ApproachingMany think a recession is inevitable at this juncture, but it isn’t. An economic slowdown could be in the cards if the Fed can accomplish its mission. In any case, Airbnb may have to brace itself as consumers become less willing to splurge.In the latest quarter, gross bookings of $17.2 billion were in line with analyst estimates. There was evidence of broadening recovery in travel. And although the summer could bring forth even more relief for Airbnb, it’s worth noting that recent upbeat trends could reverse very quickly if consumer resilience fades, paving the way for a potential negative surprise in the second half.Despite the gloomy recession talk, we’ve heard a lot of upbeat chatter about the state of the consumer. They’re still sitting on considerable savings, and job postings are surging. Indeed, it seems like the consumer is ready to spend, with employment staying robust.However, as inflation creeps higher, savings accounts could erode quicker. Further, there have been many layoffs and hiring pauses in the tech sector. The second-half road certainly seems bumpier for the consumer. And it will be interesting to see how discretionary firms’ earnings hold up, as their shares sell off in anticipation of a waning economy.Airbnb Stock: How Will it Fare as the Economy Slows?Airbnb may be a discretionary firm, but with a wider range of stay options, it may have what it takes to hold its own compared to the big hotels. The company offers a greater number of value-conscious options that may be in greater demand as budget-constrained travelers look to meet up pent-up demand for travel despite fading economic conditions. In that regard, I view Airbnb as a better play than traditional hotel firms, which aren’t as price flexible.Now, that doesn’t mean Airbnb is immune to further downside in the face of a recession. Rather, I think Airbnb could be quicker to rebound than its more traditional rivals come the next expansionary cycle.Though I view the alternative accommodation industry as more favorable than hotels in the face of a recession, the valuation of Airbnb stock doesn’t seem to offer much of a margin of safety.At writing, ABNB stock trades at 9.4 times sales and 80.4 times trailing earnings. That’s cheap historically speaking, but given recession storm clouds approaching, I’d argue the stock has a lot of room to fall before it’s considered a great value.Wall Street’s TakeAccording to TipRanks’ analyst rating consensus, ABNB stock comes in as a Moderate Buy. Out of 30 analyst ratings, there are 12 Buy recommendations, 17 Hold recommendations, and one Sell recommendation.The average Airbnb price target is $168.07, implying an upside of 78.93%. Analyst price targets range from a low of $95 per share to a high of $250 per share.The Bottom Line on Airbnb StockFor Airbnb, many exciting long-term tailwinds are still in play. Most notably, millennial demand for experiences over materialistic goods.As strong as consumers are today, it’s hard to imagine their purchasing power will hold up after another few quarters of this rampant inflation. Add the economic slowdown into the equation, and Airbnb stock still seems a tad pricy compared to the risks one will have to bear.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":72,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9044688523,"gmtCreate":1656744448562,"gmtModify":1676535888689,"author":{"id":"4118674325049632","authorId":"4118674325049632","name":"Evangee","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":4,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4118674325049632","authorIdStr":"4118674325049632"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Interesting","listText":"Interesting","text":"Interesting","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9044688523","repostId":"2248325428","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":315,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9044688961,"gmtCreate":1656744287353,"gmtModify":1676535888674,"author":{"id":"4118674325049632","authorId":"4118674325049632","name":"Evangee","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":4,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4118674325049632","authorIdStr":"4118674325049632"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Interesting.","listText":"Interesting.","text":"Interesting.","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9044688961","repostId":"2248897596","repostType":2,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":313,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"lives":[]}
