I like $VinFast Auto(VFS)$ for long term growth. Also, depending on whether they release a more affordable EV than it’s competitors, there could be a sizeable chunk of EV buyers who need a lower priced EV which is still safe and reliable of course. I’m still gonna bang this gong until one of these companies realises the market for cheaper entry level EVs. $30,000 is way too steep for me, and even second hand an EV will still set you back around $17,000. That is still way out of my price range. I’m rooting for $VinFast Auto(VFS)$ as just the manufacturer to fill that void. In the meantime, until battery technology etc. is further developed, I think I’ll be looking at hybrids…

$NIO Inc.(NIO)$ BearishOverall (might be bullis for a New York minute[Great] . I'm just waiting for one of these Chinese EV makers to come up with an affordable small hatchback or vehicle that will appeal to lower income earners who currently drive used lower priced petrol engine vehicles. Are all these people going to have to catch public transport when the EV targets are enforced? What about people who live in an area where public transport is limited or nil? What is the cheapest EV atm - does anyone know? The EV makers like$NIO Inc.(NIO)$ Bearish$XPeng Inc.(XPEV)$ Bullishand$Li Auto(LI)$ should be targeting affordable small vehicles (not these big SUVs and luxury models (considering China is our closest EV manufacturing neighbour). Right now a semi decent automobile will cost arou

$NIO Inc.(NIO)$ has potential to fill the gaps in the EV market for more affordable vehicles, however if I were NIO, I would be looking at a cheaper model or two for the single people who won't be able to afford to drive when/if the EV targets come into effect in various countries who have committed to deadlines, such as Australia. China is our close neighbour and it would make sense to import from China in order to try to have a range of EVs that the lower income earner can afford. I really worry that many people will just not be able to afford new or used EVs because I suspect the used EVs will be limited and hold their value due to demand. If the supply for affordable EVs isn't there, due to the lack of them within

$Amazon.com(AMZN)$ $Meta Platforms, Inc.(META)$ and/or $NVIDIA Corp(NVDA)$ would be my bet (and I have invested in all of these). I expect these strong companies will continue to earn me a nice profit well into the next few years. Potential for growth is still fairly high on all = [USD] as long as the FED give the rate hikes a break, we might actually see some real upward trending. People still have money to invest and if it were me, I would DYOH (check your own analysis against your set strategy/ies). Don’t commit to more than you can afford or are willing to lose, and keep abreast of important news. Don’t get sucked in by chatter and hype over bearish stocks that haven’t been performing well just because they’re cheap (an odd risky investment on penny stocks here and there is okay imho b
@JC888:In A Falling US Market, One "Good" Stock To Buy?
avatarCory2

How likely is a recession given that the fed intends to increase again in December(?)? It's difficult for noob retail traders like myself to gauge the market and stick to a strategy, particularly with diversifying interests amongst market sectors so that I have a good "hedged" range of stocks that will do well no matter the climate. Especially with the US dollar so high, bearish market etc. Any advice on this would be more than appreciated.

$Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing(TSM)$ I still like this stock for a bullish  trend. Even though gold is pretty high at themoment and other manufacturing parts are also due to the US dollar and China still     working on possible quality control issues   after the Chinese New Year. I'd be watching China more closely for an indicator...

With Apples design chief leaving also, (problems with China, patents etc), they still haven’t done too badly in terms of share pricing. The design team may switch up a bit with the new design chief which may or may not be a good thing. The iPhone 16s have already been leaked with a few new features and camera, so we’ll see. I expect $Apple(AAPL)$ to dip slightly (to maybe $162?) then correct with upward momentum. Long term I think Apple’s revenues are pretty safe. With iPhone’s being so user friendly and so many diehard fans, Apple will be just fine…

I don't believe the market has seen rock bottom yet. Some sectors are fairing worse than others. I think the supply chain and manufacturing issues/delays in China due to it's zero COVID policy are weighing heavily on a lot of companies, but seems to be pretty quiet? Ithink once China starts opening up again and their markets pick up, we'll see most markets pick up also. Just an educated guess. China is the biggest exporter in the world (last I checked) and supplies much of the world with goods, parts, materials etc. If that slows down, surely the companies/countries whoimport from China must too? I don't think the Powell speeches or the NFPs are the only go to data here...

$SoundHound AI Inc(SOUN)$ So many people saying SELL, but I have bought (earlier). I guess time will tell whether this stock with profit or lose in the mid- long term (long termbeing my strategic play here).

$FORTESCUE METALS GROUP LTD(FMG.AU)$With this sector fairing pretty well considering how many other sectors haven't. It seems steel is pretty hot 🔥 at present. Be interesting to see if a recession hits theUS and Europe, how or whether that will affect the Australian commodities market (metals/oil/gas).

I believe they'll probably stick to 25bps, the banking sector seems to be okay for now    bar a few like SVB and $Credit Suisse Group AG(CS)$ . Inflation seems to be finding it'sfeet somewhat, considering the recent data. And all signs point to lowering the rate hikes. They may pass on it period, however it seems more likely they'll stick to the 25.

$NVIDIA Corp(NVDA)$ Great company and long term investment. With AI big news at the moment (and will be in the future),NVIDIA has a long, steady growth period in both retail and commercial sectors (not to mention possibly defence & government). They put out quality goods and have a strong research team/background. I think also, with everything hyping up around green energy andEVs, there will be a greater need for chips and other parts to support the growing industries.

I have $XPeng Inc.(XPEV)$ in another platform portfolio. I like it's fundamentals, and let's face it, $Tesla Motors(TSLA)$ (also a fractional share bought stock via auto-invest) can't pragmatically corner the whole EV market. If countries are to meet their EV targets within the next five to ten years, we are going to need a more affordable range of EVs. Not everyone will be able to meet the price point of Tesla's models or even BYD. I'm hoping $XPeng Inc.(XPEV)$ will bring out a range that is affordable for the average person. Because the EV used car market at the beginning import stages will be limited, buy

$XPeng Inc.(XPEV)$ I think ChineseNew Year is going to affect the supply of   materials to many companies within the sectors that may be affected by Chinese exports. If warehouses and docks shut down, workers are off as well until at least the 30th, thensome will have to rehire and restock production materials/goods etc. The semiconductormarket was affected by this last year I remember and many companies that relied heavily on Chinese imported supplies lost profits. Quality control issues tend to happen around this time right up until May, so I expect any EV companies to be bearish.

Defence, AI and some innovative healthcare stocks at the moment. Some Bear shares ETFs? Energy sector, Gas, if there were commodities available I'd say that and some FX pairs, but we're here in Tigerland, so I'd say DYOR, DYOR, and stick with a workable and realistic strategy. Do not deviate if it's turning a profit as even a slight one in this volatilemarket is still a win. It's when I start getting greedy and using too many technical indicators and such, that the red wave starts to hit...

I wonder about who creates the content on these sites/apps and for what agenda. I feel there are a lot of avenues for online information which are only there to make noise and steer you to a dead end. People go on and on about liquidity and how there’s not enough for everyone to get rich. So isn’t it in some of these “news” source companies to misinform the reader or viewer in order to get them to invest in chatter, rather than quality, good growth stocks using strong analysis of fundamentals, technicals, global business news etc.? Sorry, but for me “Motley Fool” is one of these chatter “news” sites. I used to follow some of their advice about “winning” stocks, and lost out every single time. They need some people to lose their $, so that prices of the real “winning” stocks can be relative

Good point in Point #3 as we can sometimes put too much “stock” in what others forecast years ahead due to data that is really changing daily or minute to minute. What stocks would I suggest, or what areas? I’ve been eyeing $Worthington(WOR)$. It close to its’ 52 week high, but I really like it’s fundamentals, and technical analysis on all time charts seem pretty promising. Wait and see on that one. $Meta Platforms, Inc.(META)$ is a big one that I would consider adding as well as $Apple(AAPL)$ for obvious reasons (however I’m not sure this one is bearish short term??). Overall I absolutely agree with having a portfolio of stocks in these sectors. I’m watching $Carpenter Technology(CRS)$ and I have $TimkenSteel(TMST)$ as I think these both have potential. I’d wager the steel industry will b

I already have over 60% of these stocks in one portfolio or another. So this is going to be tough, but I think $NASDAQ(.IXIC)$ would be a good one to buy considering how well the technology sector has been doing (overall), and has massive growth potential! I do have fractional shares in $Invesco QQQ Trust-ETF(QQQ)$ but another ETF in the same sector wouldn’t be a bad thing, especially if it is one of the better performing sectors overall. Although I believe it will dip before becoming bullish again so I would wait for a better entry price. $Palantir Technologies Inc.(PLTR)$ is one on my watchlist and a good defensive stock to have but it’s not a company whose fundamentals I know well, nor does it excite me. $Tilray Inc.(TLRY)$ I think is a merger from a couple years ago I used to have.
