The company raked in profits of $1.6 billion in the first half of 2023 alone. This healthcare stock bears watching, and for those with cash to invest, even a small piece of the pie could be well worth having now.

2. Upstart

Lending platform Upstart (UPST 3.44%) has trounced the market's performance so far this year, a surge partly driven by short squeeze activity and partly by renewed interest in the stock amidst the artificial intelligence (AI) revolution. Even though the stock plunged after the company reported earnings in August, it's still trading up by more than 100% from the start of the year.

There were some improvements to note with its financials, and ongoing green flags for the business. There's also the fact that many of the struggles Upstart is currently contending with don't actually have to do so much with the underlying business itself as the macro environment it's currently operating in today.

Upstart's competitive advantage lies in its proprietary software, supported by AI and machine learning, which it uses to gauge consumer creditworthiness and approve or deny loan applications. Still, the fact that Upstart's software is approving fewer loans is a testament to its ability to fine-tune its decisions to the environment at hand, not a sign of an internal deficiency.

<app :collapse_on_load=\"false\" :instrument_id=\"343456\" :show_benchmark_compare=\"false\" amount_change=\"0.95\" average_volume=\"9,250,447\" company_name=\"Upstart\" current_price=\"28.54\" daily_high=\"29.61\" daily_low=\"28.14\" default_period=\"OneMonth\" dividend_yield=\"N/A\" exchange=\"NASDAQ\" fifty_two_week_high=\"72.58\" fifty_two_week_low=\"11.93\" gross_margin=\"96.61\" logo=\"https://g.foolcdn.com/art/companylogos/mark/UPST.png\" market_cap=\"$2B\" pe_ratio=\"-8.71\" percent_change=\"3.44\" symbol=\"UPST\" volume=\"5,879,439\"></app>

The company reached multiple long-term funding agreements earlier this year that should help it resolve its funding issues, too. It's also worth mentioning, to add more perspective to those funding concerns, that in the first half of 2023, 88% of loans funded through Upstart were either retained by the original lending partners or purchased by institutional investors. That means just 12% were carried on Upstart's balance sheet.

Upstart reported revenue of $136 million in the second quarter of 2023, up 32% sequentially. It also narrowed its net loss from $129 million in Q1 2023 to $28 million in Q2. The company now has 100 banks and credit unions signed up to its platform (compared to just 10 when it went public a few years ago), and 87% of all loans processed through Upstart are now fully automated.

These aren't the attributes of a dying business, and it's one of the few companies of its type and scale operating in the multitrillion-dollar lending industry. Upstart has work to do, but it still looks like it has a path to growth and profitability.

","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
2 Brilliant Growth Stocks to Invest $2,000 in Right Now
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n2 Brilliant Growth Stocks to Invest $2,000 in Right Now\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2023-10-02 10:54 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Investor Ben Graham -- mentor to the Oracle of Omaha himself, Warren Buffett -- was once quoted as saying: \"The individual investor should act consistently as an investor and not as a speculator.\"And ...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n","type":0,"thumbnail":"","relate_stocks":{"BK4023":"应用软件","BK4588":"碎股","BK4561":"索罗斯持仓","BK4166":"消费信贷","BK4585":"ETF&股票定投概念","VERX":"Vertex, Inc.","UPST":"Upstart Holdings, Inc."},"source_url":"https://www.fool.com/investing/2023/10/01/2-brilliant-growth-stocks-to-invest-2000-in-right/","is_english":true,"share_image_url":"https://static.laohu8.com/e9f99090a1c2ed51c021029395664489","article_id":"2372078170","content_text":"Investor Ben Graham -- mentor to the Oracle of Omaha himself, Warren Buffett -- was once quoted as saying: \"The individual investor should act consistently as an investor and not as a speculator.\"And great companies with long-term growth potential aren't found by looking at share price alone. Upstart has work to do, but it still looks like it has a path to growth and profitability.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":261,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":224907595186184,"gmtCreate":1695986479914,"gmtModify":1695986484244,"author":{"id":"4127432765598822","authorId":"4127432765598822","name":"merbz","avatar":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4127432765598822","authorIdStr":"4127432765598822"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Cool","listText":"Cool","text":"Cool","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/224907595186184","repostId":"2371059613","repostType":2,"repost":{"id":"2371059613","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Dow Jones publishes the world’s most trusted business news and financial information in a variety of media.","home_visible":0,"media_name":"Dow Jones","id":"106","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/150f88aa4d182df19190059f4a365e99"},"pubTimestamp":1695986043,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2371059613?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2023-09-29 19:14","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Blue Apron Reportedly Strikes Acquisition Deal, Stock Soars 130%","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2371059613","media":"Dow Jones","summary":"Blue Apron's valuation has been slashed since its 2017 IPO. Short-dated Treasury debt and government-insured money-market funds have seen an explosion in cash infusions, and likely they will continue to gather more as rates for the two-year Treasury and short-dated government debt all yield more than 5%. In addition, many money market funds (insured by the FDIC to up to $250,000) are yielding 4.5% and more with daily liquidity. Certificates of deposit for one to three years are also yielding over 5%, but you can pay a penalty for early withdrawal. All this has come to fruition over the past year and a half as interest rates have soared from 0.0% to 5.5% for federal funds. The key for stock and bond investors is that inflation, which has spiked some from soaring oil prices, has been pulled way down from 9.1% in the summer of 2022. Eventually, the Federal Reserve will lower interest rates to get the economy moving, likely late in 2024, if not earlier. Investors that have higher-yielding stocks and bonds could see a big rally when those rates start coming down.We screened our 24/7 Wall St. dividend and value screen for stocks with among the largest dependable dividends that could rally sharply when rates do start to fall. Seven top picks came up, and all make sense for growth and income investors. It is important to remember that no single analyst report should be used as a sole basis for any buying or selling decision.Alliance Resource PartnersThis is a leader in the thermal coal business and also offers solid diversity. Real yields - which measure return on Treasury yields after inflation - have turned higher, taking the yield of the U.S. 10-year Treasury Inflation Protected Security near its highest level since early January. That can dull the allure of stocks, which are seen as far riskier than U.S. government bonds.

Rising yields have also arrested a decline in the U.S. dollar, which tumbled from a two-decade high in the latter half of 2022 but is now up nearly 3% from its low of the year against a basket of currencies. A stronger dollar tends to hurt the profits of U.S. multinationals and exporters.

In BoFA's survey, 66% of fund managers said the move in stocks, which began in October and has seen the S&P 500 rise 14% from that month's lows, was a bear market rally rather than a new bull market.

Still, some investors believe risks are tilted in favor of stocks, with the bulk of the Fed’s monetary policy tightening likely in the rearview mirror and valuations broadly lower after last year’s 19.4% selloff in the S&P 500.

Lara Reinhard, senior portfolio strategist at Janus Henderson Investors, is avoiding technology and growth stocks but focusing on shares of companies that pay out dividends as a hedge against inflation.

“We are starting at more normal valuations and in some cases cheaper valuations than in the last few years,” she said.

Meanwhile, stocks are getting strong support from retail investors, who pumped a record net average of $1.51 billion per day into U.S. stocks over the last month, according to Vanda Securities.

"Retail investors have plenty of dry powder in the form of capital parked in money market funds that could be deployed in the equity space once confidence about future market returns increases more broadly," the firm's analysts wrote.

","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
What Recession? The S&P 500 is up 6.6% for the year-to-date, even as benchmark 10-year Treasury yields have risen nearly 50 basis points from their lows of the year.Only 24% of global fund managers now expect a recession, down from 77% in November, a recent survey by BofA Global Research showed.“Everyone came into the year thinking that there’s an imminent recession in the first half of 2023,” said Charlie McElligott, managing director, cross-asset strategy at Nomura Securities. “They got caught off guard because there’s much more resilient domestic and global growth.”Yields vs stocksInvestors’ resolve can be seen in the resilience of the Nasdaq Composite Index, home to many of the tech and growth stocks that were particularly sensitive to higher yields last year, when it registered a 33% loss.Based on historical regression, the Nasdaq should have sold off between 5% and 10% based on the increase in two-year yields since the Fed meeting earlier this month, according to a report from analysts at JPMorgan, including chief global markets strategist Marko Kolanovic. Instead, the index is up 0.3% over that time, and is up 13.3% for the year to date. Some investors say the market’s resilience is unlikely to last much longer, especially if yields keep rising. Higher Treasury yields can weigh on stocks as they offer equities investment competition, increase companies borrowing costs and hurt valuations. Many also believe that a recession has been delayed but not avoided. A severe downturn could await in the second half of the year, especially if rebounding inflation forces the Fed to keep rates at a higher level for longer to cool prices.“The market in equities is just not appreciating that there will be more stepping on the brakes from the Fed and more earnings at risk of going lower,” said Torsten Slok, Chief Economist at Apollo Global Management. “Everyone wants to buy the dip in the stock market but the risk is that with inflation at 6.4% the Fed is just not done.\"There are already signs that investors may be growing nervous over the economy’s strength. The S&P 500 dropped 1.4% on Thursday, helped in part by a stronger than expected U.S.producer price indexreading.Bearish investors also note other factors that tend to weigh on stocks have reared their heads in recent weeks. Real yields - which measure return on Treasury yields after inflation - have turned higher, taking the yield of the U.S. 10-year Treasury Inflation Protected Security near its highest level since early January. That can dull the allure of stocks, which are seen as far riskier than U.S. government bonds.Rising yields have also arrested a decline in the U.S. dollar, which tumbled from a two-decade high in the latter half of 2022 but is now up nearly 3% from its low of the year against a basket of currencies. A stronger dollar tends to hurt the profits of U.S. multinationals and exporters. In BoFA's survey, 66% of fund managers said the move in stocks, which began in October and has seen the S&P 500 rise 14% from that month's lows, was a bear market rally rather than a new bull market.Still, some investors believe risks are tilted in favor of stocks, with the bulk of the Fed’s monetary policy tightening likely in the rearview mirror and valuations broadly lower after last year’s 19.4% selloff in the S&P 500.Lara Reinhard, senior portfolio strategist at Janus Henderson Investors, is avoiding technology and growth stocks but focusing on shares of companies that pay out dividends as a hedge against inflation.“We are starting at more normal valuations and in some cases cheaper valuations than in the last few years,” she said.Meanwhile, stocks are getting strong support from retail investors, who pumped a record net average of $1.51 billion per day into U.S. stocks over the last month, according to Vanda Securities.\"Retail investors have plenty of dry powder in the form of capital parked in money market funds that could be deployed in the equity space once confidence about future market returns increases more broadly,\" the firm's analysts wrote.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":156,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":215480288894976,"gmtCreate":1693638196953,"gmtModify":1693638201065,"author":{"id":"4127432765598822","authorId":"4127432765598822","name":"merbz","avatar":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4127432765598822","authorIdStr":"4127432765598822"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Great to keep on your watchlist ","listText":"Great to keep on your watchlist ","text":"Great to keep on your watchlist","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/215480288894976","repostId":"2364241574","repostType":2,"repost":{"id":"2364241574","pubTimestamp":1693625874,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2364241574?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2023-09-02 11:37","market":"us","language":"en","title":"7 Up-and-Coming AI Stocks to Put on Your Must-Buy List","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2364241574","media":"InvestorPlace","summary":"Looking to generate higher returns with top AI stocks? Revenue jumped by 101% year-over-year, as net income soared by 843% year-over-year. While these growth rates won’t last forever, they are here right now and can make Nvidia’s valuation more manageable in future quarters, especially for investors who scoop up shares at current price levels. It’s just one of the top AI stocks with huge potential.

While I have been bearish on Nvidia solely due to its valuation, other AI stocks don’t have the same disadvantage. These stocks also give investors an opportunity to ride the AI boom, but they don’t have the frothy valuation Nvidia has built up over the years. Investors looking for a promising investment in the AI boom may want to consider these seven up-and-coming AI stocks.

AI Stocks with Huge Potential: Super Micro Computer (SMCI)

Super Micro Computer (NASDAQ: SMCI) has stayed in stride with Nvidia’s year-to-date returns and has comfortably outperformed it over the past five years. It gained over 228% year-to-date and has appreciated by 1,200% over the past five years.

Those types of returns can make any shareholder happy, but the company’s price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio of 23, and its ideal positioning for the AI boom suggest more gains are on the way. The company offers AI infrastructure solutions that will gain demand as more companies embrace artificial intelligence. It also has a close partnership with Nvidia, which means rising demand for the latter will contribute to stronger financials for Super Micro Computer.

Super Micro Computer’s net income more than doubled in fiscal year 2023. The company expects to generate $9.5 billion to $10.5 billion in net sales in fiscal year 2024. The midpoint, $10 billion, represents a 40.5% year-over-year growth rate. The rising demand for AI can help the company exceed its guidance as Nvidia did for its investors. Either way, strong revenue and earnings growth bode well for a reasonably priced company.

Axcelis Technologies (ACLS)

Axcelis Technologies (NASDAQ: ACLS) is another AI beneficiary that rewarded shareholders before talks about artificial intelligence became mainstream. Shares have gained 139% year-to-date and are up by 850% over the past five years. The company is smaller than some of the other artificial intelligence stocks on this list. ACLS has a market cap below $6 billion and a P/E ratio under 30.

The company has been a semiconductor leader for over 40 years and produces the transistors companies use to create semiconductors. Axcelis’ ion implantation technology is critical for the industry and has led to strong financials.

Axcelis Technologies comfortably beat earnings expectations and set new guidance above what analysts expected. Revenue in the second quarter reached $274.0 million, marking a 23.9% year-over-year improvement. Net income hit $61.6 million which equates to a 39.4% year-over-year increase. Artificial intelligence relies on semiconductors and stands to gain more business as AI chips become more popular.

AI Stocks with Huge Potential: Broadcom (AVGO)

Broadcom (NASDAQ: AVGO) is a semiconductor leader that has rewarded investors for several years. Its history of growing its dividend is hard to match. Plus, shares have almost quadrupled over the past five years. They are also up by 66% year-to-date.

The firm serves data centers, enterprise software companies, telecom giants, and other leaders across several business verticals. Broadcom is strengthening its cloud computing and cybersecurity initiatives through the acquisition of VMware. Broadcom recently affirmed that the acquisition will be completed on October 30th. The VMware acquisition will strengthen Broadcom’s financials, and the firm’s numbers are already solid. Broadcom has high profit margins and a good history of year-over-year revenue and earnings growth.

Broadcom shares currently trades with a P/E of 27, with a forward P/E ratio of 19. Those valuation metrics indicate AVGO stock has more to gain.

Arista Networks (ANET)

Arista Networks (NYSE: ANET) has been another tech winner. Shares have gained 61% year-to-date and are up by 161% over the past five years. Shares currently trade at a 33 P/E ratio, and financials look promising. In the second quarter, Arista reported 38.7% year-over-year revenue growth and 64.5% year-over-year GAAP net income growth. The firm set revenue guidance for $1.45 billion to $1.50 billion in the third quarter. The $1.475 billion midpoint represents 25% year-over-year revenue growth.

Arista Networks provides GPU and Storage interconnects which are critical for artificial intelligence. The company provides high-performing networks while seeking to lower operational costs for customers. Arista Networks isn’t only an artificial intelligence pick. It also provides cloud networking and cybersecurity solutions. The stock currently has a $55 billion market cap and is less than 10% away from its all-time high.

AI Stocks with Huge Potential: Qualcomm (QCOM)

Qualcomm (NASDAQ: QCOM) makes semiconductors that many smartphone makers use in their devices. Although Qualcomm stands to benefit from the AI boom, investors wouldn’t get that indication from the stock’s measly 1% year-to-date return.

Shares are also down by 14% over the past year, but they have gained 64% over the past five years. Why do the uninspiring year-to-date and 1-year performances make Qualcomm worthy of a closer look? The stock has less to lose if the AI boom ever fizzles. Shares trade at a 14 P/E ratio, and the dividend yield is close to 3%. The company reported Q2 revenue of $8.5 billion which is down by roughly 20% year-over-year. The company made some progress by having EPS exceed the midpoint of guidance.

Qualcomm also has a PEG ratio close to one, a metric that usually indicates the stock is reasonably valued. Management remains confident that Qualcomm is in a good position to capitalize on the AI boom, a development that can lead to a higher stock price. QCOM stock has less to lose if an AI boom fades, but it still has plenty to gain due to its low valuation.

Digital Realty Trust (DLR)

Digital Realty Trust (NYSE: DLR) is a real estate investment trust (REIT) that invests in data centers. These properties are critical for artificial intelligence, but they also serve other uses, such as web server storage. Top internet companies like Meta Platforms (NASDAQ: META) and banking conglomerates like J.P. Morgan (NYSE: JPM) use Digital Realty Trust’s properties.

The stock has been mostly flat over the past five years, but artificial intelligence is set to change that trend. DLR stock has increased by 28% year-to-date and offers a dividend yield hovering close to 4%.

Digital Realty Trust has over 5,000 customers spread across over 300 data centers. Those customers’ needs will grow if some of them embrace artificial intelligence tools and software. Digital Realty Trust has been able to raise its prices for many of its properties while securing high occupancy rates. Price hikes and the firm’s large customer base contributed to a 24.1% year-over-year revenue jump and 86.3% year-over-year net income growth in the second quarter.

Equinix (EQIX)

Equinix (NASDAQ: EQIX) competes with Digital Realty Trust as a data center REIT. The company enjoys the same tailwinds as DLR but has performed better over the past five years. During that time, EQIX shares have been up by 79%. However, EQIX stock’s year-to-date returns are only 17.9% which trails DLR stock.

Second quarter revenue grew by 11% year-over-year. Equinix’s updated guidance suggests the company will achieve 12%-14% year-over-year revenue growth for Fiscal Year 2023. The firm has data centers spread across the Americas, Eurasia, Africa, and Australia. In addition, 53 major projects are currently underway in 40 cities and 23 countries.

While investors wait for the developments to play out, they get to enjoy a 1.75% dividend yield. The company hiked its dividend by 10% in 2023, taking the quarterly cash distribution from $3.10/share to $3.41/share.
