Twitter followed in 2013 but was later taken private by Elon Musk and rebranded as X. Snapchat and Pinterest went public in 2017 and 2019, respectively. And now there's another social media platform you can invest in.

Reddit's shares began trading on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) on Wednesday, March 20, 2024. On its first day on the market, the stock skyrocketed 48%.

A long time coming

Although Reddit is new to the stock market, the company has been around for nearly two decades. University of Virginia roommates Steve Huffman and Alexis Ohanian founded Reddit in 2005 intending to make a website that would be "the front page of the Internet."

Huffman, who serves as Reddit's CEO, wrote in the company's regulatory filing to list its shares on the NYSE that the site operated for two months before it had enough user posts to fill its front page. Then came an explosion of traffic.

Today, Reddit boasts 73 million average daily unique users. It has 267 million average weekly users. The social media platform hosts more than 100,000 active communities spanning a wide range of interests.

Why go public after operating as a private company for so long? Huffman said users have a "deep sense of ownership over the communities they create on Reddit." Management wanted "this sense of ownership to be reflected in real ownership -- for our uses to be our owners." Reddit also wanted to reward its employees who have worked hard to build the platform.

Why so much investor excitement over Reddit's IPO?

It's likely that many of the investors who bought Reddit shares when it first started trading actively use the company's platform. They recognize the value that Reddit provides. Other investors, though, could simply be looking at the company's growth prospects.

Reddit generated revenue of $804 million last year, jumping 21% from 2022. The company's gross margin was an impressive 86%, up from 84% in the previous year.

Advertising is Reddit's primary revenue source. The company believes that its platform offers a unique value proposition for advertisers with its highly engaged users participating in "trusted, passionate communities." In a survey commissioned by Reddit last year, 75% of users stated that they viewed the website as "a trustworthy place" to help make buying decisions for products.

Reddit expects that e-commerce will be another key growth driver. Some marketplaces have already been launched in its online communities, including Photoshop services. The company is moving forward with initiatives to promote more e-commerce services and believes it can monetize these efforts.

Perhaps the most intriguing attraction for Reddit is its connection with artificial intelligence (AI). The company's platform contains over 1 billion posts and over 16 billion comments. It ranks in the top 10 most-visited websites in the United States. This extensive content makes Reddit a leading training source for large language models.

In February, Alphabet's Google unit inked a $60 million deal with Reddit to use its site to train AI models and improve Google Search. Twitter followed in 2013 but was later taken private by Elon Musk and rebranded as X. Snapchat and Pinterest went public in 2017 and 2019, respectively. And now there's another social media platform you can invest in.Reddit's shares began trading on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) on Wednesday, March 20, 2024. On its first day on the market, the stock skyrocketed 48%.A long time comingAlthough Reddit is new to the stock market, the company has been around for nearly two decades. University of Virginia roommates Steve Huffman and Alexis Ohanian founded Reddit in 2005 intending to make a website that would be \"the front page of the Internet.\"Huffman, who serves as Reddit's CEO, wrote in the company's regulatory filing to list its shares on the NYSE that the site operated for two months before it had enough user posts to fill its front page. Then came an explosion of traffic.Today, Reddit boasts 73 million average daily unique users. It has 267 million average weekly users. The social media platform hosts more than 100,000 active communities spanning a wide range of interests. Why go public after operating as a private company for so long? Huffman said users have a \"deep sense of ownership over the communities they create on Reddit.\" Management wanted \"this sense of ownership to be reflected in real ownership -- for our uses to be our owners.\" Reddit also wanted to reward its employees who have worked hard to build the platform. Why so much investor excitement over Reddit's IPO?It's likely that many of the investors who bought Reddit shares when it first started trading actively use the company's platform. They recognize the value that Reddit provides. Other investors, though, could simply be looking at the company's growth prospects.Reddit generated revenue of $804 million last year, jumping 21% from 2022. The company's gross margin was an impressive 86%, up from 84% in the previous year.Advertising is Reddit's primary revenue source. The company believes that its platform offers a unique value proposition for advertisers with its highly engaged users participating in \"trusted, passionate communities.\" In a survey commissioned by Reddit last year, 75% of users stated that they viewed the website as \"a trustworthy place\" to help make buying decisions for products.Reddit expects that e-commerce will be another key growth driver. Some marketplaces have already been launched in its online communities, including Photoshop services. The company is moving forward with initiatives to promote more e-commerce services and believes it can monetize these efforts.Perhaps the most intriguing attraction for Reddit is its connection with artificial intelligence (AI). Reddit also gained access to Google AI models to improve its platform.Reddit and weep?Should you buy Reddit after its sizzling IPO? I wouldn't be surprised if they wait one more meeting [until July],\" said Ethan Harris, retired chief global economist at Bank of America. The January and February consumer inflation readings were \"two bad months,\" and they need three friendly reports before they're ready to pull the trigger. \"That may not be in time for June,\" Harris said.\"So I think that's where the debate should be. June or not,\" he said in an interview.J. Benson Durham, head of global policy and asset allocation at Piper Sandler, agreed.\"I think it is too soon the say that June is locked in and baked in the cake,\" Durham said in an interview. \"I still think the data is kind of volatile.\"Uncertainty about the economic outlook is higher than it's been since the 1970s, Durham said.Derek Tang, economist at Monetary Policy Analytics, said uncertainty about the path of the economy has become more pronounced.\"I think they are a little wary that inflation is going to stay stubborn at levels above 2%,\" he said. \"That's why they are kind of proceeding quite carefully.\"Markets celebrated last week when the Fed maintained its projections of three interest-rate cuts this year. Goldman Sachs removed Apple from its Conviction List last month, while Barclays, Piper Sandler, and Redburn Atlantic were among firms that have downgraded the stock in 2024.Earlier this week, Loop Capital analyst Ananda Baruah cut his price target on Apple to $170 from $185, and lowered his earnings estimates, writing in a client note that lackluster demand, \"softer fundamentals,\" and competition from Huawei and Xiaomi are having a \"material impact.\"\"iPhone unit shipments are simply too soft,\" Baruah wrote. \"We currently believe that both Street iPhone units and revenue [estimates] could be 20% too high, and that Wall Street’s overall revenue and EPS [estimates] could be 10% too high.\"Baruah expects Apple's annual revenue and earnings to decline in 2024 — which has not happened since 2016.SHANGHAI, CHINA - MARCH 23, 2024 - Customers shop at Apple's flagship store, the world's second largest and Asia's largest, in Shanghai, China, March 23, 2024.And Apple's woes in China aren't going away. iPhone sales in the country dropped 24% during the first six weeks of the year, with Apple's market share falling below 16%, according to a Counterpoint Research report. Chinese smartphone maker Vivo holds the largest domestic market share with 17.6%, while Huawei and Honor Device accounted for 16.5% and 16.3%, respectively.TECHnalysis Research's Bob O’Donnell told Yahoo Finance Live that the road ahead for Apple will be challenging, as the region contributed nearly one-fifth of the tech giant’s overall revenue in its most recent quarter.\"I think the next couple of quarters is going to be tough,\" O’Donnell said. \"I'm hoping that Apple will pull a rabbit out of its hat. It's done so in the past, and I'm not convinced it can't do that now.\"Despite waning excitement on Wall Street, now may be the time to bet on Apple. The recent selloff has put its shares at a discount, Piper Sandler chief market technician Craig Johnson told Yahoo Finance Live, giving it a more attractive risk-reward set up.\"Apple looks like a pretty attractive place for people to park their money at this point in time, because it’s got a great balance sheet, a highly repeatable business model, good margins, and they're buying back quite a bit of stock,\" Johnson explained.Beyond its solid balance sheet, several analysts remain confident in the company's ability to regain momentum. The Vision Pro headset and anticipated AI initiatives are largely viewed as future revenue growth drivers, along with additional sources of revenue, including a potential advertising push.\"Maybe demand is slower in China, but it has really wealthy demographics already using their ecosystem, so they need to add advertising to drive revenue growth,\" Martin said. \"Apple needs to figure out a way to add more services and software so it can get more subscription revenue and up its revenue per device.\"Martin is among a shortened list of analysts who have maintained a buy rating on Apple. At the start of the second quarter, just over half the analysts covering Apple rated the stock a buy, according to Bloomberg data. That makes Apple the second least-favored Magnificent 7 stock, behind Tesla.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":414,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9949691223,"gmtCreate":1678553062863,"gmtModify":1678553064445,"author":{"id":"4130892157102582","authorId":"4130892157102582","name":"ARISTO","avatar":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/981a7dfe8d0862d66b4ff326fec40327","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4130892157102582","authorIdStr":"4130892157102582"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Tiger Brokers(TIGR)$ ","listText":"$Tiger Brokers(TIGR)$ ","text":"$Tiger Brokers(TIGR)$","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9949691223","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":399,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9949691606,"gmtCreate":1678553052006,"gmtModify":1678553055287,"author":{"id":"4130892157102582","authorId":"4130892157102582","name":"ARISTO","avatar":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/981a7dfe8d0862d66b4ff326fec40327","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4130892157102582","authorIdStr":"4130892157102582"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Tiger Brokers(TIGR)$ ","listText":"$Tiger Brokers(TIGR)$ ","text":"$Tiger Brokers(TIGR)$","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9949691606","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":401,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9952087694,"gmtCreate":1674264438119,"gmtModify":1676538934257,"author":{"id":"4130892157102582","authorId":"4130892157102582","name":"ARISTO","avatar":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/981a7dfe8d0862d66b4ff326fec40327","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4130892157102582","authorIdStr":"4130892157102582"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Enjoy ","listText":"Enjoy ","text":"Enjoy","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9952087694","repostId":"9956470180","repostType":1,"repost":{"id":9956470180,"gmtCreate":1674175823841,"gmtModify":1676538927662,"author":{"id":"3527667667103859","authorId":"3527667667103859","name":"TigerEvents","avatar":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/c266ef25181ace18bec1262357bbe1a8","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3527667667103859","authorIdStr":"3527667667103859"},"themes":[],"title":"[Events] Find \"HAPPYCNY\" cards & win Tiger Coins","htmlText":"As the Lunar New Year approaches, Tiger has prepared several surprises for you. an excellent way for you to save up for your retirement.

What’s more, funds parked inside the CPF Ordinary Account (OA) earn a near risk-free rate of 2.5%.

Over time, regular contributions to the OA along with the accrued interest will leave you with an attractive nest egg for your golden years.

But did you know that the funds within the OA can be invested in a wide range of investment products such as unit trusts, equities, and Singapore Treasury Bills?

You can choose to allocate some of your CPF OA funds to dividend stocks that pay a higher yield than the current 2.5%.

Here are four reliable dividend stocks that can help to boost your CPA OA’s returns.

United Overseas Bank Ltd (SGX: U11)

United Overseas Bank Ltd, or UOB, is one of the three big local banks.

The lender reported a sparklingset of earningsfor its fiscal 2022’s third quarter.

Buoyed by higher interest rates, the bank chalked up a higher net interest margin (NIM) of 1.95% for the quarter, up from 1.55% in the same period last year.

Total income surged because of the higher NIM, leading to a 34% year on year jump in the bank’s net profit to S$1.4 billion.

The group paid out a trailing 12-month dividend of S$1.20, translating into a trailing dividend yield of 4% on the bank’s shares.

There could be further upside to UOB’s earnings and dividends.

The US Federal Reserve is committed to increasing interest rates further this year to tame inflation.

If rates do go higher, the bank can then enjoy improved NIMs and also report higher profits in the quarters to come.

Sheng Siong Group Ltd (SGX: OV8)

Sheng Siong is one of Singapore’s largest supermarket chains with 66 outlets spread out across the island, mostly in heartland areas.

The retailer has proven resilient during downturns as it sells a wide variety of necessities and essential household items along with fresh foods.

These items should continue to enjoy consistent demand even during a recession.

The group reported a sturdy set of earnings for the first nine months of this year (9M2022).

Revenue dipped 1.9% year on year to S$1 billion but net profit remained flat year on year at S$100 million.

Free cash flow generated for 9M2022 remained healthy at S$104.2 million.

Sheng Siong paid out a trailing 12-month dividend of S$0.0625, with its shares yielding 3.7%.

Looking ahead, the group seeks to increase its network of stores in Singapore where it does not have a presence.

It recently signed a lease agreement to open its fifth store in Kunming, China, to be operational by the second quarter of this year.

ComfortDelGro Corporation Limited (SGX: C52)

ComfortDelGro, or CDG, is one of the world’s largest land transport companies with a fleet of 34,000 taxis, buses and rental vehicles with operations in seven countries.

The group reported a respectable set of earnings for 9M2022 with revenue rising 7.9% year on year to S$2.8 billion.

Net profit jumped 31% year on year to S$153 million as economies reopened and with more countries opening up for travel.

CDG paid out an interim dividend of S$0.0285 and a special dividend of S$0.0141 from the sale of a UK property.

Together with the final dividend of S$0.021 paid last year, CDG’s trailing 12-month dividend stands at S$0.0636, giving its shares a trailing dividend yield of 5.2%.

If the special dividend was excluded, the dividend yield comes in at a still-respectable 4%.

The group has been busy in recent months.

In November, it clinched three Sydney metropolitan bus tenders worth A$1.7 billion.

And just this week, CDG announced a US$4 million investment into a teleoperation software company to strengthen its autonomous vehicle capabilities.

Keppel Corporation (SGX: BN4)

Keppel Corporation is a blue-chip conglomerate with four core divisions – energy and environment, urban development, connectivity, and asset management.

For 9M2022, the group reported a 24% year on year jump in revenue to S$6.8 billion.

9M2022 net profit also improved year on year, contributed by strong performances from Energy and Environment and Asset Management divisions.

Keppel also announced that asset monetisation has approached S$4.4 billion and is on track to exceed its target of S$5 billion by the end of this year.

The group declared and paid out an interim dividend of S$0.15, a 25% year on year increase, as net profit for 1H2022 surged by 66% year on year.

Coupled with Keppel’s final dividend of S$0.21 for FY2021, the trailing 12-month dividend stood at S$0.36, giving its shares a trailing dividend yield of 5%.

","source":"lsy1602567310727","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; Central Provident Fund (CPF) is an excellent way for you to save up for your retirement. What’s more, funds parked inside the CPF Ordinary Account (OA) earn a near risk-free rate of 2.5%.Over time, regular contributions to the OA along with the accrued interest will leave you with an attractive nest egg for your golden years. But did you know that the funds within the OA can be invested in a wide range of investment products such as unit trusts, equities, and Singapore Treasury Bills? You can choose to allocate some of your CPF OA funds to dividend stocks that pay a higher yield than the current 2.5%.Here are four reliable dividend stocks that can help to boost your CPA OA’s returns.United Overseas Bank Ltd (SGX: U11)United Overseas Bank Ltd, or UOB, is one of the three big local banks. The lender reported a sparklingset of earningsfor its fiscal 2022’s third quarter.Buoyed by higher interest rates, the bank chalked up a higher net interest margin (NIM) of 1.95% for the quarter, up from 1.55% in the same period last year.Total income surged because of the higher NIM, leading to a 34% year on year jump in the bank’s net profit to S$1.4 billion. The group paid out a trailing 12-month dividend of S$1.20, translating into a trailing dividend yield of 4% on the bank’s shares. There could be further upside to UOB’s earnings and dividends. The US Federal Reserve is committed to increasing interest rates further this year to tame inflation. If rates do go higher, the bank can then enjoy improved NIMs and also report higher profits in the quarters to come.Sheng Siong Group Ltd (SGX: OV8)Sheng Siong is one of Singapore’s largest supermarket chains with 66 outlets spread out across the island, mostly in heartland areas. The retailer has proven resilient during downturns as it sells a wide variety of necessities and essential household items along with fresh foods. These items should continue to enjoy consistent demand even during a recession. The group reported a sturdy set of earnings for the first nine months of this year (9M2022).Revenue dipped 1.9% year on year to S$1 billion but net profit remained flat year on year at S$100 million.Free cash flow generated for 9M2022 remained healthy at S$104.2 million.Sheng Siong paid out a trailing 12-month dividend of S$0.0625, with its shares yielding 3.7%.Looking ahead, the group seeks to increase its network of stores in Singapore where it does not have a presence. It recently signed a lease agreement to open its fifth store in Kunming, China, to be operational by the second quarter of this year.ComfortDelGro Corporation Limited (SGX: C52)ComfortDelGro, or CDG, is one of the world’s largest land transport companies with a fleet of 34,000 taxis, buses and rental vehicles with operations in seven countries. The group reported a respectable set of earnings for 9M2022 with revenue rising 7.9% year on year to S$2.8 billion.Net profit jumped 31% year on year to S$153 million as economies reopened and with more countries opening up for travel.CDG paid out an interim dividend of S$0.0285 and a special dividend of S$0.0141 from the sale of a UK property.Together with the final dividend of S$0.021 paid last year, CDG’s trailing 12-month dividend stands at S$0.0636, giving its shares a trailing dividend yield of 5.2%.If the special dividend was excluded, the dividend yield comes in at a still-respectable 4%.The group has been busy in recent months. In November, it clinched three Sydney metropolitan bus tenders worth A$1.7 billion. And just this week, CDG announced a US$4 million investment into a teleoperation software company to strengthen its autonomous vehicle capabilities.Keppel Corporation (SGX: BN4)Keppel Corporation is a blue-chip conglomerate with four core divisions – energy and environment, urban development, connectivity, and asset management. For 9M2022, the group reported a 24% year on year jump in revenue to S$6.8 billion.9M2022 net profit also improved year on year, contributed by strong performances from Energy and Environment and Asset Management divisions.Keppel also announced that asset monetisation has approached S$4.4 billion and is on track to exceed its target of S$5 billion by the end of this year. The group declared and paid out an interim dividend of S$0.15, a 25% year on year increase, as net profit for 1H2022 surged by 66% year on year.Coupled with Keppel’s final dividend of S$0.21 for FY2021, the trailing 12-month dividend stood at S$0.36, giving its shares a trailing dividend yield of 5%.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":132,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9951763708,"gmtCreate":1673567829904,"gmtModify":1676538856793,"author":{"id":"4130892157102582","authorId":"4130892157102582","name":"ARISTO","avatar":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/981a7dfe8d0862d66b4ff326fec40327","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4130892157102582","authorIdStr":"4130892157102582"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Great
