Semi earnings coming! Thoughts on this? Hmmm. [Gosh] Big tech isn't dead, while there were minimal changes to earnings estimates in aggregate, this was better than feared heading in - they weren't dead, but only resting. There are two main themes in tech worth considering right now are cloud and artificial intelligence (AI). The momentum on AI was clearly starting to build, as recent earnings transcripts were peppered with AI references. And not because of AI or anything else, I'm normally very skeptical of claims of the next transformative tech breakthrough, but the AI momentum is no segway and it is real. This one really has some legs in terms of playing it. AI took the world by storm earlier this year and it’s one of the most exciting performance ever as ChatGPT made headlines

The release of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) data report yesterday drew significant attention as market participants and economists eagerly sought indicators to assess the trajectory of global markets and the overall economy. It is particularly crucial as it sheds light on the Federal Reserve's potential response to its upcoming meeting by the end of the month and to speculate the likelihood of the Federal Reserve’s adjustment on its implementing interest rate as a means of controlling the inflation. The Global census outlook on overall June Core CPI increase by 0.3% resulting to a year-on-year rate at 5.0%, did over the 2.0% annual goal of the Fed. The anticipation for headline inflation to also increase by 0.3%, which would lower the year-over-year rate to 3.1%. Shelter costs are being

$Tesla Motors(TSLA)$  TESLA announcement on Sunday that it delivered a record 466,000 vehicles in the second quarter of 2023, topping market estimates of around 445,000, which would be a 5% increase compared to the previous quarter's delivery of 423,000 vehicles. 📈📌 The outperformance may have been due to discounting, which is not good for margins, but analysts have still been gushing over the numbers and tipping ever-higher stock prices. To drive sales and counter the effects of economic uncertainty and rising competition, Tesla has been implementing various measures. One notable strategy has been aggressive price cuts since January, which have impacted the company's first-quarter margins. However, in recent months,

Just 7 Companies Dominate the Nasdaq 100

The Nasdaq 100 is on track for its best-ever H1 in its 52-year history. Most of the people I've mentioned this to this week have responded with replies like: "That's crazy/incredible/unbelievable!" "It doesn't make any sense!" "It's going to be a good short soon" When a lot of people agree that a market move "doesn't make any sense" it sends an important signal. It tells you that they're not positioned for what's happening. Microsoft and Apple, together with the next five ranked companies, made up over 50% of the total weight of the index in April. These companies are: Alphabet (Google), Amazon, NVIDIA, Meta, and Tesla, with Alphabet’s class A and class C shares occupying two spots. $Alphabet(GOOGL)$

Musk vs. Zuckerberg: The Future of Social Media

Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg are two of the most powerful men in technology, and they have very different visions for the future of social media. Musk believes that social media should be a platform for free speech, while Zuckerberg believes that it should be a force for good in the world. This difference in opinion has led to a number of public debates between Musk and Zuckerberg, with emojis flying left and right. In one such debate, Musk accused Zuckerberg of being a "control freak" who is trying to "monopolize" social media. Zuckerberg responded by saying that Musk is "naive" and that his ideas about free speech are "dangerous." The debate between Musk and Zuckerberg is more than just a personal spat. It is a debate about the future of social media. Musk believes that social media sh

Tesla: The New Standard in EV Charging

Texas says state-funded EV charging stations need to include Tesla’s NACS connector. Texas says it will require state-funded electric vehicle charging stations to have a connector for Tesla’s North American Charging Standard (NACS). The news comes as automakers such as Ford, GM and Rivian shift to adopting the NACS and away from the Combined Charging System (CCS).The Texas Department of Transportation told Reuters that the automakers’ move to NACS prompted the requirement for EV charging companies to install NACS connectors if they want to be included in a state program that involves federal funding. DC fast chargers in the state will still need to have a CCS connector to obtain federal dollars through the program. The US Department of Transportation has earmarked up to $7.5 billion in fund

What has the Market Taught Me?

What has the Market Taught me?? Well, here are some thoughts after self reflection. 🚀🦄 1. Emotions cloud judgment. Emotional responses, such as fear or greed, can cloud our judgment and lead to irrational investment decisions. By removing emotions from the equation, you gain clarity and make more logical choices based on solid analysis. 2. Greed can blind you. Greed is a common pitfall that often tempts investors to chase quick profits or take unnecessary risks. By eliminating greed, you can maintain a disciplined approach, stick to your investment strategy and avoid impulsive actions. 3. Fear hampers rationality. Fear of losses can cause panic selling, preventing you from maximizing gains and potentially missing out on valuable long-term opportunities. In the same way, FOMO can cause you

Warren Buffet’s Berkshire raised stakes in Japan’s five largest trading houses

When the shogun of value investing in Japan says "jump", my only possible response is "How high?". The Japanese stock market has been one of the bright stories this year UP +29% relative US stocks which are up +15%. The rally in Japanese stocks in 2023 has been broad-based. What's interesting about Japanese stocks is the rally has not be by singular sectors or themes (like the US) but by but rather a more broad-based rally. Japan has been put on the map by global investors since Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway $Berkshire Hathaway(BRK.B)$ made their earlier investments in Japanese commodity trading firms. Buffett disclosed in August 2020 that he acquired slightly more than 5% in each of Japan's top five trading houses: Itochu Corp, Marube
