Smiths Group Update on Cyber Incident, Interconnect Sale in Focus in Earnings -- Market Talk

1359 GMT - Smiths Group isn't expected to disappoint when it reports half-year earnings on March 25, having raised its guidance twice already, HSBC analysts write. They forecast an adjusted operating profit for the first half of 272 million pounds and margins of 16.8%, and are hoping to get an update on January's cyber incident as well as the sale of Interconnect. Smiths said on Jan. 31 that it planned to sell Smiths Interconnect by the end of this year as part of a plan to focus on the John Crane and Flex-Tek businesses. Shares in the FTSE 100 listed engineering group are up 0.6% at 19.73 pounds. (ian.walker@wsj.com.)
