Are You Pro or Against 24/7 Trading?

Some news suggests that the NYSE will implement 24/7 trading.

What are your thoughts?

Some users say:

I'm ready to be hurt.

It would be like Vegas.

Extending trading to 24/7 may lead to market movements resembling those of cryptocurrencies, characterized by sudden shifts after consolidation or prolonged.

However, round-the-clock trading might be beneficial for investors in the Asian region, as they can also observe stock price fluctuations during the day. $Tiger Brokers(TIGR)$

Do you see it as an opportunity to earn or lose more money?

Will it require you to pay attention to the stock market 24 hours a day?

Are you looking forward to round-the-clock trading?

🌟🌟🌟24/7 Trading would be great news for those active in trading.  High adrenaline, lots of excitement.  But may not be good for health reasons.  Our bodies are governed by circadian rhythms.   If we try staying up all night, the next day we may feel absolutely lousy.   Then there is no time for loved ones in the frantic pace of constantly monitoring the markets.

Life is about having a good balance.  Time to work, and time to play and relax.

24/7 trading is definitely a big No for me.  My favourite way of investing is to buy plain vanilla ETFs like $SPDR Portfolio S&P 500 ETF(SPLG)$  $STI ETF(ES3.SI)$  and hold forever.  No need to monitor the markets, no need to read company reports and lots of time to relax and enjoy life.

though there's pros and cons, I don't think it's a good idea... there are bound to be obsessions for some... social media is a.good example...

it's better to have a break so people could "breathe" easy...

I don't want to have to "stick" my face on the screen all the time and can't sleep well thinking how the market is swinging... [What] [What] [What]

As an AI financial analyst, I understand your concerns about the potential drawbacks of round-the-clock trading and the impact it may have on individuals' well-being. While round-the-clock trading may provide opportunities for increased earnings, it also comes with risks and challenges.

Increased Potential for Earnings: Round-the-clock trading allows investors to react to market news and events immediately, potentially capitalizing on price fluctuations and earning profits. However, it's important to note that trading in volatile markets can be risky and requires careful analysis and decision-making.

Increased Risk and Attention: Continuous trading means that investors need to monitor the market constantly, which can be mentally and emotionally demanding. It may lead to increased stress and sleep disturbances, as you mentioned. It's crucial to strike a balance between staying informed and taking breaks to prioritize your well-being.

Market Volatility: Extended trading hours can lead to increased market volatility, as liquidity may be lower during non-traditional hours. This can result in wider bid-ask spreads and potentially higher transaction costs.

Personal Time and Lifestyle: Round-the-clock trading may require individuals to dedicate more time and attention to the stock market, which can impact their personal lives and daily routines. It's important to consider whether this aligns with your lifestyle and goals.

Ultimately, the decision to engage in round-the-clock trading should be based on your risk tolerance, investment strategy, and personal circumstances. It's essential to carefully evaluate the potential benefits and drawbacks before making any investment decisions.

Please note that the information provided is for reference purposes only and does not constitute investment advice. Investing in stocks involves risks, and it's recommended to consult with a financial advisor or professional before making any investment decisions.

No effect for me as i am an investor and not a trader. [Great]

Paying attention to the market 24 hrs a day might be useful for day traders or people who have expertise in short trades.

For me, I will continue to profit from choosing the right investments and sitting on my butt. [Grin][Grin][Grin]

I am waiting WHA is allowed then i can be anywhere and trading anytime, what most importantly just do what you like, and know the limit. Even US stock market is open, i still sleep at my night time, even US stock market is open at day time, i will still do my day job because it is the source of income, while trading is sideline only, maybe during lunch time i can check the prices n buy what i like and if the price is within my target 😁

Good for global investors but i also suspect that there will be more trading during the current trading hours. No need to pay attention to the stock market 24/7 since can set limits. Definitely looking forward to 24/7 trading hours!

24 hours 7 days might be a good opportunity and chances for aggressive investors but not suitable for me [LOL] I think it is better to have some break time as not everyone like to do the same thing 24hours 7days a week. Plus, a lot of factors will affect the market if 24 hours running, any disasters, or war will make a huge impact!

I don't think is a good idea as anything big news happen will immediately affect the stock market. While you asleep the next day you wake up the stock you invest in red zone. No time to react. 😅

  • Overnight trading will benefit different parts of the world and bring the world much closer together. However, this may be detrimental to health for enthusiastic traders , both physically and mentally🤯.

With the boom of online platforms, basically everyone and anyone can trade any time. Sounds like a plan. But how about market analysts? 🫨🫨 sounds stressful for them… basically im not a heavy trader but i like to look at charts.

With trading round the clock, there will be more data to look at and it will be interesting!

Though transiting to 24/6 trading model faces several hurdles like maintaining liquidity and mitigating settlement risks, I like this idea!

Change is a constant! Lets embrace it if it happens! 💪🏻💪🏻

Should have 24/7 trading from the beginning. The global markets and world conditions are changing by seconds so reacting in the normal trading hours are usually very late.

don't fix anything when nothings broken. I'm against 24/7 trading. no time to constantly monitor stock price every minute. don't make stocks like crypto trading. fixed trading hours is best like now.
