Oklo Inc.'s stock soared 5.01% in the intraday trading session on Thursday, following news that its proposed acquisition target, Atomic Alchemy, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Zeno Power Systems to provide radioisotopes for commercial radioisotope power systems (RPSs).
The MOU represents a significant milestone for Atomic Alchemy, as it aims to expand its presence in key markets such as defense and energy by supplying radioisotopes like strontium-90 and americium-241 to Zeno Power. These radioisotopes can be produced as coproducts from Oklo's recycling processes.
Zeno Power, a leading developer of commercial RPSs, has secured over $65 million in contracts with NASA, the U.S. Navy, and the U.S. Space Force, enabling reliable clean power solutions for missions ranging from seabed exploration to lunar operations. The collaboration with Atomic Alchemy is expected to support Zeno Power's efforts by ensuring a dependable supply of critical radioisotopes.
