Nvidia Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA) has been one of the most prominent stocks lately, taking advantage of the strong growth of artificial intelligence, the gaming industry, and data center businesses. The recent announcement of DeepSeek's (DEEPSEEK) entry into the AI industry with a much lower investment than competitors, such as ChatGPT, has generated concerns about the future development of the AI market and its tech suppliers. Consequently, in the past week, multiple stocks linked to the AI industry lost market value. Despite this event, I still believe that Nvidia remains an interesting investment (as I explained in my previous article) thanks to its established market leadership, unique ecosystem, and constant demand for AI-driven technology.

In this article, I will explain why I believe Nvidia's stock remains a BUY opportunity despite the recent introduction of DeepSeek in the market.

Nvidia’s market leadership and AI dominance

Nvidia has a strong market position and has been able to earn a leading position as GPU supplier for AI companies. Nvidia's GPUs have indeed become the gold standard for AI and machine learning applications, with the H100 and A100 chips powering some of the most powerful AI models, including ChatGPT. The demand for GPUs has increased as companies such as Microsoft, Amazon, and Alphabet are all rushing to incorporate AI solutions into their operations and product offerings.

DeepSeek's entry into the AI market adds another layer of competition, since it has shown the possibility of developing an AI Model at a much lower cost than what was invested by US tech giants for developing their models. This has led Nvidia stock to decline by about 20% in the past seven days. This is because most US AI models are supported by Nvidia GPUs, and, the fact that an AI model (DeepSeek) can be developed with a lower investment, immediately led to a sell-off of Nvidia’s share. Investors are concerned about the sustainability of Nvidia’s future revenues generated by orders coming from the AI sector.

However, I believe that Nvidia is not only GPU for AI and the current decline in the stock price could represent an interesting entry point to invest in the company.

Why I believe that Nvidia Is Still a Buy

As mentioned above, despite the recent news, I believe that Nvidia is still a BUY, with the current decline in the stock price representing an opportunity to buy shares discounted. In particular, the following are the reasons why I believe that Nvidia remains a solid investment:

  1. AI and data centers will continue to drive growth: The global AI market is projected to reach $1.8 trillion by 2030, and Nvidia is positioned as the leading enabler of this growth. Even with new players like DeepSeek, we should not forget that Nvidia has already established partnerships, owns state-of-the-art technology, and consistently pushes for innovation to ensure strong demand for its chips.

  2. The gaming segment remains robust: The gaming sector, which represents another core revenue driver for Nvidia (about 11% of Q3-2025 revenues), has recently shown signs of growth with the RTX 40-series GPUs gaining traction. Increased adoption of ray tracing and high-performance computing will keep Nvidia at the forefront.

  3. Automotive and edge computing expansion: Nvidia is also involved in autonomous driving with its Drive platform, which is revolutionizing the sector. With partnerships across major automakers, such as Volvo, the supply of Nvidia’s Orin and Drive platform will represent another source of income.

  4. Hardware-software company: Nvidia is evolving into a hardware-plus-software company, with its AI enterprise solutions and Omniverse platforms offering long-term subscription revenue potential. This diversification reduces the dependency on hardware sales and increases the potential value proposition to customers who can count on Nvidia as a one-stop shop for hardware and software.

Addressing the disruption coming from DeepSeek

While DeepSeek's AI chip announcement has raised short-term investor concerns, it is vital to remember that Nvidia has a first-mover advantage, a vast software ecosystem, and strong customer loyalty. DeepSeek still faces significant challenges with mass manufacture, scalability, and software optimization. I believe that Nvidia's extensive integration into AI workloads ensures that clients will continue to use its ecosystem rather than switching to an unproven alternative.

Risks

Like all investments, even buying Nvidia’s shares doesn’t come without risks. The following are those that I have identified as the most important:

  1. Valuation: Nvidia’s stock trades at a forward price-to-earnings ratio above 40, significantly higher than historical averages. While earnings growth has been strong, any slowdown in AI demand could lead to P/E contraction.

  2. Competition: While Nvidia is currently a leader in the AI chip market, competition from rivals such AMD’s MI300X GPUs and Intel’s Gaudi chips could affect Nvidia's market share.

  3. Geopolitical risks: The US vs. China trade tensions could represent a challenge, as China remains a significant market for Nvidia. Export restrictions on high-performance chips could decrease revenue growth.

  4. Supply chain constraints: While Nvidia has managed to secure supply for its high-end GPUs and is planning to open a plant in the USA, any disruptions in semiconductor manufacturing (e.g., Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co.) could impact production.

Conclusion

Overall, I believe that Nvidia’s role as an AI powerhouse remains unchallenged, and its growth prospects continue to look strong. While the DeepSeek news introduces an additional layer of complexity, Nvidia’s established technology, software dominance, and customer loyalty represent a strong advantage. From my perspective, investors should look at any Nvidia stock price drop generated from DeepSeek-related headlines as a potential buying opportunity.
