Palantir Technologies Inc. has eliminated about 2% of its workforce as a growing list of companies cut jobs.
A company spokeswoman confirmed the workforce reductions but didn't disclose the number of positions affected. As of Dec. 31, Palantir had 3,838 full-time employees, according to its latest 10-K filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
"We believe our company is at an inflection point and to continue to evolve, we are making the tough choice of reducing teams in several areas," the spokeswoman said in an email. "While less than 2% of our workforce is impacted by these changes, these are incredibly painful decisions but the right ones for the company's future."
The company will continue to hire strategically, the spokeswoman said.
Palantir's move to reduce its headcount comes as a wave of technology companies announce layoffs amid an industry slowdown. Corporate job cuts are also spilling into other industries as companies tighten their belts and reconsider their workforce needs in response to a challenging economic environment.
