US Futures Flat, European Stocks Rise

U.S. futures for the S&P 500 were down 0.1% and futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average were flat. Changes in futures don't necessarily predict movements after the opening bell.

In Europe, the Stoxx Europe 600 gained 0.3% in morning trading. Scatec added 6.7% and Andritz rose 6%. On the other hand, A.P. Moeller-Maersk B slipped 9.3%, and Uniper lost 3.5%. The FTSE 100 added 0.3%. Other stocks in Europe were up as France's CAC 40 increased 0.2% and Germany's DAX rose 0.4%.

The Wall Street Journal Dollar Index was flat at 100.26.

In commodities, Brent crude climbed 0.5% to $87.30 a barrel, and WTI crude rose 0.7% to $83.05 a barrel.

The German 10-year Bund yield held steady at 2.723%, and the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury rose by 1 basis point to 4.673% from 4.663%. Bond prices and yields move in opposite directions.

Stocks in Asia were up. Markets in Japan were closed. Hong Kong's Hang Seng gained 2.5%. China's benchmark Shanghai Composite gained 0.7%.
