BUZZ-Meta, Snap slip as Alphabet's ad revenue disappoints

Reuters01-31

** Shares of digital ad sellers fall premarket after Google-parent Alphabet's holiday season advertising sales fell short of analysts' expectations

** Meta Platforms drops 2.7%, Snapchat-owner Snap Inc slips 1.8%

** META is expected to report Q4 results Thursday after market close, while SNAP is likely to post earnings on Feb. 6

** A rebound in the ad businesses of Google, Meta and Snap in the third-quarter results had raised hopes that the growing adoption of AI was drawing marketers to digital platforms even in an uncertain economy

** Over the past 12 months, SNAP, PINS and Alphabet have gained between 48% and 56% while META has jumped 172%
