** Spot gold up 0.7% to $2,577.03/ounce, helped by a weaker U.S. dollar and expectations of interest rate cuts by the Federal Reserve

** Top miners Newmont and Barrick Gold up 2.37% and 2.32%, respectively

** U.S.-listed shares of South African miners Gold Fields

up 3.10%, Harmony Gold rises 4.31% and AngloGold Ashanti gains 2.11%

** Shares of Canadian miners Agnico Eagle Mines and Kinross Gold rise 2.19% and 3.09%, respectively
