In addition, higher operating expenses and one fewer operating day negatively affected the quarter’s results. A reduction of structural costs from the company’s DRIVE program initiatives partially offset these factors,” the company said in a statement.  The delivery company earned an adjusted profit of $3.60 per share, down from $4.55 a year ago and $1.17 below the consensus estimates. Total revenue was nearly unchanged from a year ago at $21.7B, also missing the consensus estimate.  By segment, FedEx Express, which represents half of the company’s total revenue, earned an adjusted income of $996M with an operating margin of 5.4% vs 7.2% a year ago.  For FY25, the company lowered its revenue growth rate to a low single-digit percentage rate from the prior forecast of a low-to-mid single digit percentage increase.  Earnings are expected to be between $17.90 to $18.90 per share compared to prior forecast of $18.25 to $20.25 per share before the market-to-market retirement plans accounting adjustments, and $20.00 to $21.00 per share from initial guidance of $20.00 to $22.00 per share excluding costs related to business optimization initiatives. This compares to the consensus estimate of $20.93 per share.
