The S&P 500 Closes Above 6000 for the First Time -- WSJ

The S&P 500 closed above 6000 for the first time Monday. The index added 5.81 points, or 0.1%, to 6001.35.

The index hit 5000 on Feb. 9. Its rally since has been led by new joiners Vistra, which has gained 237% since the last milestone, and Palantir, which is up 147%.

Energy company Vistra joined the index in May, and data-analytics company Palantir was added in September. Both companies have been buoyed by the AI boom.
