Wednesday brings more economic data, while investors will also keep close watch for further Trump administration appointments or other announcements. U.S. markets will be shut Thursday and close early on Friday. Here are the coming highlights for the rest of the week:
Today:
-- Durable-goods orders and the second reading of second-quarter GDP are due at 8:30 a.m. ET.
-- October's personal-consumption expenditures price index, or PCE, is expected at 10 a.m. The gauge is the Federal Reserve's preferred measure of inflation.
Thursday:
-- U.S. markets are closed for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Friday:
-- Markets close early in the U.S. The stock market closes at 1 p.m., while bond markets are slated to shut down an hour later.
-- Black Friday marks the start of the holiday shopping season. Retailer data, as well as credit-card and other spending data, will be in focus into the weekend and December. Retailers are looking for Black Friday to reignite tepid demand from budget-minded shoppers.
