China's Trade Activity Likely to Maintain Momentum in Near Term -- Market Talk
Dow Jones01-13
0925 GMT - China's trade activity is likely to maintain momentum in the near term, Citi analysts write in a research note. December trade data exceeded expectations for both exports and imports, the analysts highlight. Strong exports were partly driven by front-loading orders ahead of the earlier Chinese New Year holiday and anticipated U.S. tariff hikes, they note. This front-loading behavior is expected to continue boosting demand in 1Q 2025 and potentially into 2Q. However, demand is likely to moderate once potential U.S. tariffs are implemented, Citi says.(tracy.qu@wsj.com)
