Microsoft (MSFT) intends to use third-party firms for sales of software to small and mid-size clients, Bloomberg reported Friday, citing people familiar with the situation.
The company's chief commercial officer, Judson Althoff, disclosed the initiative to employees on Thursday, according to the report.
Additionally, many of Microsoft's in-house sellers will be expected to broaden their product offerings beyond narrow specializations, with the shift also including increased technical training and a focus on selling AI-driven products, Bloomberg added.
"We are evolving the commercial solution areas within our sales organization to better reflect the era of AI and support the growth of our customers and partners," a Microsoft spokesperson told Bloomberg.
Microsoft did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
