My best gain in 2024 was Amprius ($Amprius Technologies Operating Inc(AMPX)$ ) and I'm still holding because I expect it to go up again in 2025.
They make lithium-silicon batteries that are better than the lithium-NMC batteries currently used in cars. There's lots of competition but no one else has posted better figures for how far you can go one one charge. The batteries also charge faster.
They're currently selling batteries for drones and satelites and mobility equipment but intend to move into car batteries. They signed a bid deal this year with an undisclosed Global Fortune 500 maker of light electric vehicles i.e. electric bikes or motorcycles for $20m.
They're not currently profitable as they have been building factories. They put one of their contracted factories into production in October 2024, so revenue will start increasing rapidly from here. It will probably be a long path to profitability as they're going to continue investing in their rapidly growing business.
In 3Q24, the company earned -13c per share on revenue of $3.35m, but this should improve in 2025 with higher volumes from the new factories. The average target price from analysts is $8.00 so there is a lot of potential growth. Not sue that they'll get to $8 but even if they only get to $4 that's still a 100% return in 2025.
As a small thinly traded technology company, it's a risky investment. Make sure you do your own research and understand the risks involved. Good luck with your investments in 2025!
