With Circle IPO Begin Trading, Catalyst For Other Crypto Stocks?

Circle's successful IPO is a significant event for the crypto industry, and it is likely to create a positive ripple effect for several other crypto-related stocks.

Circle is scheduled to begin trading later today (05 June 2025) Thursday.

In this article, I would like to discuss which companies (e.g. crypto stocks) might benefit.

Why Circle's IPO is a Catalyst for Other Crypto Stocks

Increased Investor Confidence: A successful IPO from a major player like Circle, especially with its robust demand and pricing above the expected range, signals growing mainstream investor confidence in the digital asset space. This can lead to a broader willingness to invest in other publicly traded crypto companies.

Regulatory Clarity: Circle's IPO comes at a time when there's increasing discussion and potential for clearer regulatory frameworks for stablecoins and the broader crypto industry, particularly in the US. More regulatory clarity reduces uncertainty, making crypto assets and related businesses more appealing to institutional and retail investors.

Validation of Stablecoins and Blockchain Infrastructure: Circle is the issuer of USDC, a leading stablecoin. Its successful public listing validates the business model and utility of stablecoins and the underlying blockchain infrastructure. This could draw more attention and investment into companies building similar financial infrastructure.

Transparency: The real difference between the two tokens lies in the history of transparency both companies have shown. USDC has generally provided more transparency regarding its reserves than Tether has.

Proof of Viability: Circle's profitability and increasing revenue from its reserves demonstrate that crypto businesses can be sustainable and generate significant earnings. This provides a positive precedent for other crypto firms looking to go public or raise capital.

Paving the Way for More IPOs: A strong debut for Circle can open the floodgates for other crypto companies that have been mulling or planning IPOs, as it shows there's appetite in the public markets for these assets.

Crypto Stocks Likely to Benefit and Why

$Coinbase Global, Inc.(COIN)$

Direct Partnership: Coinbase co-founded USDC with Circle and has a significant revenue-sharing agreement. It also earns 100% of the interest generated by USDC products on its platform. Circle's success directly benefits Coinbase.

Leading Exchange: As the largest publicly traded crypto exchange in the US, Coinbase is a bellwether for the broader crypto market. Increased investor confidence and adoption of crypto assets, spurred by Circle's IPO, will likely translate to higher trading volumes and user activity on Coinbase.

Institutional Adoption: Both Circle and Coinbase are at the forefront of bringing institutional capital into crypto. As more traditional finance players engage with stablecoins and digital assets, both companies stand to gain.

Look at the daily exchange volume (7DMA) from The Block, we are seeing the volume pretty consistent and there is a surge of volume traded when the IPO was announced, so we might want to watch when $Circle Internet Corp.(CRCL)$ started trading.

$eToro Group Ltd.(ETOR)$

Trading Platform: eToro is a multi-asset trading platform with a strong focus on crypto. Its recent upsized IPO, alongside Circle's, indicates strong demand for platforms that facilitate crypto trading. Increased investor interest in crypto generally benefits trading platforms.

Broad Exposure: eToro offers exposure to a wide range of cryptocurrencies, making it a potential beneficiary of broader crypto market rallies that could follow Circle's positive sentiment.

Companies with Upcoming IPO Plans (e.g., Kraken, Blockchain.com, BitGo)

Market Appetite Validation: Circle's successful IPO provides strong validation for these companies that the public markets are ready for more crypto listings. This could encourage them to move forward with their IPO plans more confidently.

Similar Business Models: Many of these companies are key players in crypto exchanges, custody, or broader blockchain services. A rising tide lifts all boats, and the positive momentum from Circle's debut could spill over into their valuations and investor interest.

Kraken: A major crypto exchange reportedly considering a public offering this year. A favorable market climate post-Circle's IPO would be highly beneficial.

Blockchain.com: A prominent crypto platform that is reportedly strengthening its executive team in preparation for a potential public listing.

BitGo: A crypto custody services firm that has been reported to be gearing up for an IPO later this year. Increased institutional adoption facilitated by stablecoins could boost demand for custody services.

Companies Involved in Blockchain Infrastructure and Development (less direct but still beneficial)

While not directly traded, private companies or publicly traded tech companies with significant blockchain initiatives could also see a boost. The underlying message of Circle's success is the growing utility and acceptance of blockchain technology in finance. This could lead to increased investment in other projects building on or utilizing blockchain.

Factors to Watch

Regulatory Developments: Continued progress in stablecoin regulations (like the proposed GENIUS Act in the US) will be crucial. Positive regulatory shifts can significantly boost the value of compliant crypto businesses.

Crypto Market Performance: While Circle's IPO creates its own positive momentum, the overall performance of Bitcoin and Ethereum, as well as broader market sentiment, will still influence crypto-related stocks.

Interest Rate Environment: Circle's revenue model benefits from interest earned on its reserves. Changes in interest rates could impact its profitability and, by extension, investor sentiment towards stablecoin issuers.

Competition: The stablecoin market is competitive, with Tether's USDT currently larger than USDC. Circle's ability to grow its market share will be a key factor in its long-term success and influence on the broader crypto market.

Summary

Circle's IPO is a strong signal of maturation and increasing acceptance for the crypto industry within traditional finance. Companies like Coinbase are directly poised to benefit, while others with similar business models or upcoming public offerings will likely see a more favorable market environment. The long-term impact will depend on continued regulatory clarity and the sustained growth of the crypto ecosystem.

Appreciate if you could share your thoughts in the comment section whether you think Circle IP would send a strong signal for increasing acceptance for the crypto industry.

Stable coin provides a cryptostyle coin pegged to a secure asset that earns interest as bonds CDs and valuation of stable currencies. It is not volatile as Ethereum or Bitcoin. Nice concept

circle needs to issue new stablecoins to cover more currencies.  CADC (Canadian dollar stablecoin), EURC for euro,  CNYC for yuan, etc.  just usdc is not enough.  need to keep expanding.
