$Alphabet(GOOG)$ $Alphabet(GOOGL)$stock moves lower after Q1 earnings[Facepalm] [Facepalm]
Shares of Google are moving lower after its parent company, Alphabet, posted disappointing earnings and revenue for the first quarter.[Cry]
Google shares moving lower-- Alphabet shares rather, the parent company of Google-- by about 3 and 1/2% here on the immediately.[Facepalm]
Tack on some more losses after a really disappointing day for the mega caps. Revenue for Alphabet for the first quarter coming in, and this is ex traffic acquisition-- this is a key line-- $56.02 billion. That's just a little bit light of the estimate of $56.07 billion. You can call it in line, but definitely not a beat. Revenue coming in at $68.01 billion. The estimate was for slightly lower, $67.98 billion. And that breaks out into various segments. Ad revenue, $54.66 billion-- small beat there. Other revenues, $6.81 billion. That was a miss. The Street was expecting $7.28 billion.[Duh]
Services-- that's the kahuna right here-- $61.47 billion. And that is under the estimate of $62.58 billion, so a little bit of a disappointment there. And also cloud revenue, $5.82 billion, just topping the estimate of $5.77 billion. But Google Cloud, they had an operating loss of $931 million that is wider than the estimated loss of $893 million. And here's another stat-- operating income, $20.09 billion. That does beat, small beat, the estimate of $19.7 billion. Oh, finally, EPS-- almost forgot about the bottom line here-- $24.62.
