To The Moon

$DBS GROUP HOLDINGS LTD(D05.SI)$  Share prices are supposed to fall today as today is ex dividends day. However, with the surge in the U.S markets last night (11 Nov), I am curious how the stock will perform. The market was exuberant at how the inflation measures seemed to be working as the CPI was not as high as expected at 8.8%.

Will the Singapore market rally as well? Yes I think it will but honestly, I think it is too premature to confirm that the Fed will act. However, it is also a sign of things to come especially if there are more signs that inflation is falling. Everyone is waiting for the heralded "Powell Pivot". It could happen any time. This benefits the long term investor who does not worry about timing the market.

One thing that has helped me is setting aside spare savings so that I can hold on to the stocks. I faced an emergency need yesterday and was fortunate I had savings. However, I do think I could have set aside more (note to self).

For the day trader, your job is not enviable as I cannot imagine being able to guess whether stocks would rise or fall (nevertheless, I believe that there are many who are gurus and managed to get it correct last night).

In conclusion, I think that whether you are a trader or long term investor, today is something to look forward to if you are investing in the rise in prices. Let's hope today will be a good day.
