To The Moon

Social Media / the web moves markets and stock prices and often by quite a lot! So wouldn't it be great to know which STOCKS are about to explode in either direction? You can very simply and for free using GOOGLE TRENDS and create your very own 'HOT STOCKS' watchlist to trade from. I show you how....

One of the keys to successful stock trading is having the momentum of the price in your favour. How do you get momentum - simple: through the hightened interest and activity of the participants in that stock. Google trends monitor searches for just about everything including the stocks we want to trade.

You can filter this information within the GOOGLE TRENDS TOOL by country, time period, search categories e.g Finance and by Web Search eg by YouTube, News etc. The key to success here is finding 'key words' to filter on combined with the filters I just mentioned. If you can do this, you will pull up a nice hot list of currently trending stocks. Lets see how to do it....

1. Open the Google Trends tool (do a quick search for it in your browser -remember it is totally free)
2. . You will hit the home page looking like this:

3.Then go to the drop down tab in the top left and hit 'explore' - should look like this:

4.The next part is about trial and error. We need to key in a search term. I like to start with: Stocks or Stocks To Buy, Hot Stocks etc. In this example we will use 'stocks to buy' and we will also change the filters to the United States, over the past 7 days. This should look like this:

5.Scroll down in this page to find your most searched stocks in the USA over the last 7days! Mine looks like this at time of writing:

6.As you can see stocks like $Qualcomm(QCOM)$  , $Plug Power(PLUG)$ $Bed Bath & Beyond(BBBY)$  have hit our watch list. It will evn show you hot sectors eg space stocks to buy!

7.RULES - I like to look for stocks that have a big % interest eg QCOM has 400% so I normally have mny own filter of everything greater than 250% (You will also see BREAK OUT in this percentage results space sometimes - this means they really are hot)

8.Play about by country, search term, time period to focus in and find other ideas.

9.I do not trade these stocks straight away off this list - I will then find out if they are bullish / bearish and then use technical analysis to time my way in to a trade.
