๐๐๐People will remember Charlie Munger not for how rich he became but for his wisdom and kindness he was known for. Charlie Munger may have been Warren Buffett's right hand man but he was just as inspiring as Warren Buffett in his own way.
I had a light bulb moment when I came across this quote by Charlie Munger.
"The Big Money Is Not in the Buying and Selling, But In the Waiting"
That saying is very profound in meaning to me. It speaks of Patience and Time in the Market. It means having strong belief and conviction in the stocks that I choose to buy. It means holding onto these stocks over time to let the magic of compounding happen.
A good example of this is my investment in $Alphabet(GOOGL)$
When it reached a 52 week low of USD 84.86, it was so tempting to panic and sell. But I asked myself what is the future potential of Google with its 92% giant market share in search engine globally. Will Google stay relevant in future? The answer was crystal clear. That is a Yes! Google is also at the forefront of the AI revolution with its chatbot Bard, its in vestments in Anthropic worth USD 2 billion AI video production app Runway, open source SAAS company Hugging Face. Google is also working on its own AI algorithm called Gemini.
The other important quote that Charlie Munger said was :
"I constantly see people rise in life who are not the smartest, sometimes not even the most diligent, but they are learning machines."
So to me lifelong learning is the key to success in life. That means I will strive to keep learning through reading books, keeping abreast of the latest news and really dive into everything I can learn on investing. I am also very grateful and fortunate to be part of this wonderful community of Tiger Friends who have generously shared their knowledge and tips on investing. I like to be that sponge who is constantly driven to seek and absorb new lessons on investing.
A Big Thank You to Charlie Munger who has given me much inspiration and determination to be a better investor.
Charlie Munger has left the world a better place by his wisdom and kindness. The obituary he would have written for himself when he was in his 30s was the same he would write today.
"I basically believe in the soldier on system. Lots of hardships will come and you got to handle them well by soldiering through and a few rare opportunities will come, you have to learn how to recognise them when available."
Charlie Munger - A Man of Wisdom, Courage and Kindness - May you rest in peace and remain in our hearts forever.
