STI ETF - A Great ETF For Singaporeans

🌟🌟🌟If I can only invest in 1 ETF in Singapore, it would be $STI ETF(ES3.SI)$ .  It is the oldest and largest ETF in Singapore established since 11 April 2002 with Assets Under Management of SGD 1.56 billion.  In just 1 trade I gain access to 30 of Singapore's strongest and largest blue chip stocks.

The Top 10 holdings include the 3 Singapore banks $DBS Group Holdings(D05.SI)$  $ocbc bank(O39.SI)$  $UOB(U11.SI)$  as well as $Singtel(Z74.SI)$  Jardine Matheson Holdings, Capitaland Integrated Commercial Trust, Capitaland Ascendas Reit, Keppel Ltd, Singapore Airlines and Singapore Exchange.

DBS is the largest holding with 22% weightage, followed by OCBC at 15.8%, UOB at 11.5%.  Together these 3 banks take up 49% of the ETF.

Singtel is Singapore's largest telecom operator and its Australian subsidiary Optus is the 2nd largest telecom operator in Australia.

Jardine Matheson Holdings is a Hong Kong based conglomerate listed in Singapore. Its businesses include HongKong Land, Dairy Farm and Mandarin Oriental.

Capitaland Integrated Commercial Trust is Singapore 's largest diversified real estate investment trust (REIT) with 21 properties in Singapore, 2 properties in Frankfurt Germany and 3 properties in Sydney Australia.

Capitaland Ascendas Reit is Singapore' s first and largest listed Business Space and Industrial Reit.

Keppel Ltd is a Singapore investment holding and management company that carries out operations in the marine, property, infrastructure and telecommunications and transportation businesses.

Singapore Airlines is Singapore 's National Flag carrier famous for its excellent service and extensive routes.

Singapore Exchange is Singapore' s only stock exchange that provide listing, clearing,  settlement, depository and data services with about 40% of listed companies and over 80%  of listed bonds originating outside Singapore.

As a Singaporean, I intend to hold STI ETF long term as I believe in the future of our beautiful, safe and dynamic country.  So far I have been well rewarded with the slow and steady performance of STI ETF.  Best of all I also receive nice and reliable dividends twice a year.  The current dividend yield is 4.28%.

STI ETF does the heavy lifting for me as it provides me with the diversification and minimises my risk on investing in single stocks.  No need to worry about reading company reports.  Just buy STI ETF and  like Warren Buffett, my favourite holding period is forever.
