$British Pound - main 2212(GBPmain)$rally after the UK Prime minister Liz Truss resigns.

UK Prime Minister Liz Truss Resigns. British Pound and Bonds Rally.

UK Prime Minister Liz Truss resigned Thursday, less than two months after taking office, after a risky plan to cut taxes and boost spending caused turmoil on financial markets, forcing her to backtrack and her political authority to disintegrate.

The 47-year-old will become the shortest-serving prime minister in British history and the third Conservative Party leader pushed out of office in as many years. Ms. Truss said that a leadership election will be held within the next week to find her replacement.

"I recognize that given the situation, I cannot deliver the mandate on which I was elected by the Conservative Party," she said standing outside Downing Street.

The FTSE 100, the U.K.'s blue-chip stock index, gained 0.1%. The mid-cap FTSE 250 rose 0.3%. Both indexes traded firmly in the red earlier in the day.

Yields on government bonds, which are known as gilts and move inversely to bond prices, tumbled as gilts rallied. The yield on the 10-year U.K. gilt fell to 3.82, having opened Thursday near 4%.

The British pound was up 0.5% against the dollar to just shy of $1.13, having traded around $1.12 prior to Truss' resignation.

For personal opinion, I think she just had bad luck? Doing a wrong decisions in the wrong timing or perhaps too aggressive on building her own reputation?
