These results enable us to raise our top-line growth outlook for the fiscal year and to maintain our EPS guidance range.âPG stock is up 3% as of Wednesday morning.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":559,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9091093151,"gmtCreate":1643726595200,"gmtModify":1676533848862,"author":{"id":"3554854598717843","authorId":"3554854598717843","name":"mokkie","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/6cd87f99bfb3537660593815fa3f088b","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3554854598717843","authorIdStr":"3554854598717843"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"To src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/05996145af51693fcf4685e329a5a345\" tg-width=\"1536\" tg-height=\"1026\" width=\"100%\" height=\"auto\">https://www.facebook.com/PlargueDoctor//iStock via Getty Images
\n
Shares of Chinese electric vehicle maker NIO (NIO) have dropped considerably this week as Beijing's crackdown on different business sectors escalated. However, the Chinese market for electric vehicles has the full policy support of Beijing and local governments. The risk profile appears to be heavily skewed to the upside, and I am going to explain why.
\n
China's crackdown
\n
It all started with the crackdown on cryptocurrencies a few months ago when Chinese regulators forbade financial institutions to offer crypto-related services to its customers. Since then, the crackdown has widened and Beijing is using its anti-monopoly agency, the State Administration for Market Regulation, to rein in monopolistic enterprises. Tencent (OTCPK:TCEHY), China's Facebook (FB), was just forced by the SAMR to give up its exclusive music copyrights within 30 days. Ride-hailing firm DiDi(NYSE:DIDI), China's Uber Technologies (UBER), saw its app pulled from app stores earlier this month - which is likely related to its overseas stock listing- and Alibaba, China's Amazon (AMZN), was hit with a $2.8B fine for abusing its market dominance in E-commerce a few months ago. The crackdown widened this week after Chinese regulators banned paid tutoring in the education sector and forbade raising capital abroad. Beijing's government actions roiled the Chinese stock market, including shares of firms like NIO that are not directly affected by the crackdown.
\n
The Chinese EV market is growing extremely fast and has no monopolistic structure
\n
The Chinese market for electric vehicles looks very different than the market for search, social media or E-commerce where a few very large corporations control nearly the entire market. NIO, XPeng (XPEV) and Li Auto (LI) are all relative small Chinese makers of electric vehicles that are unlikely to attract any kind of antitrust action. While BYD (OTCPK:BYDDF) is one of the larger EV companies in China regarding size and revenues, NIO and its two closest rivals, XPeng and Li Auto, are relatively small.
\n
Data by YCharts
\n
NIO, XPeng and Li Auto are selling just a few thousand vehicles a month each. NIO sold 8,083 vehicles in June 2021, showing growth of 116% Y/Y, but NIO and its EV rivals are not anywhere near dominating the market for electric vehicles. China sold 1.3M electric vehicles in 2020, representing 41% of all EV sales globally. China is by far the largest market for electric vehicles and it has the largest EV stock. Sales for battery-powered and hybrid passenger cars soared to almost 5M in 2020 in an industry that is seeing momentum and accelerating delivery growth of EVs.
\n
(Source: The International Council On Clean Transportation)
\n
In 2021, China could see 1.9M EV sales, indicating near-50% Y/Y growth. NIO will deliver just short of 100,000 EVs in 2021 - based on my delivery projections for FY 2021- which would give NIO a market share for new EV sales of less than 5 percent. About 10% of new car sales in China are EVs, a percentage that according to BYD founder Wang Chuanfu could rise to 70% within the decade. This estimate, however, may even be on the low end as EV deliveries really started to skyrocket in FY 2021. Plug-in sales are surging in China and the market is seeing accelerating uptake as all Chinese EV makers add new models to their EV line-ups.
\n
(Source: InsideEVs)
\n
Government is actively supporting Chinese EV makers
\n
There is another major difference between the market NIO operates in and the markets Beijing is cracking down on to correct monopolistic behavior. As opposed to the tech sector, for example, the Chinese government actively initiated policies that support the industry. Accelerating EV adoption is an explicit policy goal that Beijing and Chinese municipalities pursue through various means, and these goals tie in with the government's plan to be carbon-neutral by 2060. Because of this, Beijing wants to see 20% of new vehicle sales to be electric by 2025 which explains why the adoption of zero-emission vehicles is heavily supported by local governments. Municipalities and big Chinese cities set incentives for EV adoption by offering purchase subsidies as well as other perks.
\n
(Source: IEA Global Energy Outlook)
\n
Since Beijing is heavily supporting Chinese EV makers and the market is non-monopolistic, the risk of seeing government intervention in this sector of the economy is really, really low.
\n
Overreaction creates an opportunity to engage
\n
After NIO's 30% drop since June, every dollar put into NIO buys more growth. The biggest risk for NIO, by far, is slowing revenue and delivery growth rates which could spark a revaluation of the EV maker and result in a lower sales multiplier factor. A more serious risk for NIO and other car brands, short term, is the semiconductor shortage that is lowering factory output. NIO lowered its production guidance earlier this year and guided for a rebound in the second half of the year. If the chip supply shortage lasts longer than expected and starts to take a bite out of NIO's delivery growth in 2021, NIO's stock could face more pressure and skew the risk profile to the downside. A widening regulatory crackdown in China that involves, for whatever reason, small EV makers (possible, but not probable) would mean that a fundamental revaluation of NIO is needed.
\n
Final thoughts
\n
This is a buy-the-dip opportunity because the market appears to be overreacting to China's antitrust actions. Policy goals to accelerate EV adoption tie in with Beijing's climate change goals and favor NIO's growth. Additionally, NIO is an extremely small car brand based on revenues and it should not attract any kind of harmful government interference.
","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Re-Evaluating NIO After Its 30% Drop
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nRe-Evaluating NIO After Its 30% Drop\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-07-30 16:59 GMT+8 seekingalpha\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Summary\n\nShares of NIO have dropped sharply in July.\nNIOâs sell-off accelerated this week amid Beijingâs hardening crackdown on multiple business sectors.\nHowever, NIO operates in a non-monopolistic ...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n","type":0,"thumbnail":"","relate_stocks":{"NIO":"čćĽ"},"source_url":"https://seekingalpha.com/article/4442460-reevaluating-nio-after-its-30-percent-drop","is_english":true,"share_image_url":"https://static.laohu8.com/e9f99090a1c2ed51c021029395664489","article_id":"1166392380","content_text":"Summary\n\nShares of NIO have dropped sharply in July.\nNIOâs sell-off accelerated this week amid Beijingâs hardening crackdown on multiple business sectors.\nHowever, NIO operates in a non-monopolistic market which is heavily supported by the government and is fundamentally different from sectors that Beijing has targeted lately with its antitrust agency.\nNIO will continue to grow sales rapidly and the risk of government intervention in the EV market is low.\nThe market panic creates a buy-the-dip opportunity.\n\nhttps://www.facebook.com/PlargueDoctor//iStock via Getty Images\nShares of Chinese electric vehicle maker NIO (NIO) have dropped considerably this week as Beijing's crackdown on different business sectors escalated. However, the Chinese market for electric vehicles has the full policy support of Beijing and local governments. The risk profile appears to be heavily skewed to the upside, and I am going to explain why.\nChina's crackdown\nIt all started with the crackdown on cryptocurrencies a few months ago when Chinese regulators forbade financial institutions to offer crypto-related services to its customers. Beijing's government actions roiled the Chinese stock market, including shares of firms like NIO that are not directly affected by the crackdown.\nThe Chinese EV market is growing extremely fast and has no monopolistic structure\nThe Chinese market for electric vehicles looks very different than the market for search, social media or E-commerce where a few very large corporations control nearly the entire market. NIO, XPeng (XPEV) and Li Auto (LI) are all relative small Chinese makers of electric vehicles that are unlikely to attract any kind of antitrust action. While BYD (OTCPK:BYDDF) is one of the larger EV companies in China regarding size and revenues, NIO and its two closest rivals, XPeng and Li Auto, are relatively small.\nData by YCharts\nNIO, XPeng and Li Auto are selling just a few thousand vehicles a month each. Sales for battery-powered and hybrid passenger cars soared to almost 5M in 2020 in an industry that is seeing momentum and accelerating delivery growth of EVs.\n(Source: The International Council On Clean Transportation)\nIn 2021, China could see 1.9M EV sales, indicating near-50% Y/Y growth. Plug-in sales are surging in China and the market is seeing accelerating uptake as all Chinese EV makers add new models to their EV line-ups.\n(Source: InsideEVs)\nGovernment is actively supporting Chinese EV makers\nThere is another major difference between the market NIO operates in and the markets Beijing is cracking down on to correct monopolistic behavior. Municipalities and big Chinese cities set incentives for EV adoption by offering purchase subsidies as well as other perks.\n(Source: IEA Global Energy Outlook)\nSince Beijing is heavily supporting Chinese EV makers and the market is non-monopolistic, the risk of seeing government intervention in this sector of the economy is really, really low.\nOverreaction creates an opportunity to engage\nAfter NIO's 30% drop since June, every dollar put into NIO buys more growth. All Chinese EV makers dropped hard since June and the sell-off affected NIO as well as its rivals. Shares of NIO dropped 9% on Tuesday and the EV maker now has the lowest year-to-date return of its rivals.\nData by YCharts\nDue to the market's overreaction to Beijing's antitrust actions that are limited to markets with monopolistic structures, NIO's sales growth is now also 30% cheaper. NIO could see at least 100% delivery growth in FY 2021 and the BaaS revenue opportunity is the key differentiating factor that sets NIO apart from the competition.\n(Source: Author)\nRisks with NIO\nGovernment intervention is generally a risk in the second-biggest economy, but I don't believe it is a big risk for NIO. The biggest risk for NIO, by far, is slowing revenue and delivery growth rates which could spark a revaluation of the EV maker and result in a lower sales multiplier factor. Which vehicle maker offers the best deal based on market opportunity, scale, revenue model, growth prospects and valuation? I will compare Ford against NIO in each category and issue a final verdict at the end.
\n
Ford vs. NIO: The battle for the global electric vehicle market is heating up
\n
Although there is a world of difference between Ford and NIO, both companies are set to go toe-to-toe in the rapidly growing global electric vehicle market. Fordâs fleet is not yet EV-focused but this is going to change: Feeling that the EV race is heating up, Ford said it is accelerating its electrification plan by investing $30B into its EV manufacturing capabilities until 2025. Fordâs previous capital plan called for a $22B investment in zero-emission vehicles. Ford also set an ambitious sales goal: 40% of its global sales will be electric within the next decade and 33% of pickup truck sales. Electric vehicle sales account for just 1% of Ford's sales today. As Ford is phasing out combustion engines, it is set to evolve into an all-electric vehicle maker by 2040.
\n
Market opportunity
\n
In 2020, 3.2m electric vehicles were sold in the world which represented a small market share of just 4.2%. China, however, was responsible for buying 41% of all electric vehicles in the world in 2020. Chinese buyers purchased 1.3m electric vehicles last year and sales are set to grow fast as Beijing seeks to boost EV adoption. The second largest market for electric vehicles was Europe which accounted for 42% of global EV sales. The US is only the third-largest market for plug-in electric vehicles in the world.
\n
(Source: Wikipedia)
\n
China, by far, is the fastest growing EV market in the world, although Europe is catching up fast, in part due to a legislative efforts to increase adoption of zero-emission passenger vehicles and because of massive investments in a Europe-wide charging station network. NIO is on the cusp of entering the European market in a bid to grow market share in the worldâs second-largest EV market before the competition is ready.
\n
Beijing is a driver behind the electrification of the Chinese auto industry: The government wants to see a twenty percent share of electric vehicles for new car sales by 2025 which will drive EV penetration in NIOâs home market.
\n
(Source:Schroders)
\n
Turning to growth projections.
\n
With more favorable government policies for EV makers in places like China and Europe, these markets are poised to see the fastest sales growth and the highest EV adoption rates in the world. China is not only the largest market due to population size but is also expected to outperform all other markets in the world in EV sales until 2030.
\n
(Source:McKinsey)
\n
Since China has a larger total market size, a higher EV adoption rate, stronger expected sales growth and a more favorable regulatory framework, the winner here would be: NIO.
\n
Scale and manufacturing competence
\n
Ford has a centuryâs worth of manufacturing experience. But Ford, so far, has only one all-electric vehicle in its product line-up that compares to NIO: The Mustang Mach-E SUV. In 2022, Ford will begin to sell the all-electric F-150 Lightening which builds on the success of Fordâs best-selling pick-up truck. NIO already has a stronger product catalog including the 5-seater ES6 SUV, the 5-seater coupe SUV EC6 and the ES8, a 6-seater and 7-seater full-sized SUV.
\n
Since NIO is solely focused on producing EVs and occupies a very small and defined niche, the Chinese firm has an advantage as far as EV-manufacturing expertise goes. The question is how long this advantage can last. Ford has extensive experience in building cars and can leverage a global manufacturing base to ramp up EV production faster than any niche EV maker could ever hope to achieve. This makes Ford a very serious rival not only to Tesla (TSLA) in the US, but also to NIO abroad. Ford is accelerating its electrification plans and it has the resources and the ambition to become a leader in EVs within the next decade. Fordâs proposed $30B spending on the electrification of its fleet will accelerate its transformation and turn Ford into a long term threat to other EV makers.
\n
Winner here: Ford.
\n
Differentiation and BaaS revenue model
\n
Both Ford and NIO know about the importance of differentiation in a market that will only get more competitive over time, which is why both companies are investing heavily in a related field that can break or solidify dominance in the EV market: Battery technology.
\n
Ford is forming a joint venture with South Korean battery technology company SK Innovation to secure supply of traction battery cells and array modules. The joint venture is meant to accelerate battery deliveries and will produce approximately 60 GWh annually, enough to cover 25% of Fordâs estimated annual energy demand by 2030. NIO is also investing in battery technology and has formed its own joint venture to secure battery supply.
\n
The difference to Ford is that NIOâs battery investment strategy revolves around a battery subscription model, also called âbattery-as-a-serviceâ, which creates a strong, long term revenue opportunity for the Chinese vehicle maker. Under this âBaaSâ model, users who buy a NIO electric vehicle get a 70,000 RMB initial discount, equivalent to $10,800, and can sign up for a monthly subscription to rent a rechargeable 70 kWh battery. Batteries can then be exchanged at one of NIOâs battery-swapping stations which can be found in most big Chinese cities. A battery subscription costs 980 RMB monthly which is the equivalent of $150.
\n
The BaaS model has a couple of benefits for both the vehicle maker and the user: Purchasing an electric vehicle from NIO gets a lot more affordable due to the up-front discount and the subscription model ensures that users benefit from advancement in battery technology and better performance over time. Decoupling battery costs from vehicle prices creates an entirely new revenue stream on a subscription basis for NIO. Revenues from âBaaSâ subscriptions could be used to increase the density of NIOâs network of charging/replacement stations. The battery subscription model also binds customers to NIO, potentially increasing customer lifetime value.
\n
Ford and NIO are primed to benefit from falling battery costs for electric vehicles as they ramp up capital allocations. As more investments flow into developing more efficient batteries, performance will go up and costs will go down which should drive EV adoption and benefit all EV makers. This is because lower battery prices make EVs more competitive to passenger vehicles with combustion engines. But since NIO is structuring a part of its business model explicitly around battery subscriptions, NIO could benefit more than Ford.
\n
Battery costs for EVs have decreased 70% since 2014, based on information provided by investment firm Schroders, and are set to decrease more this decade.
\n
(Source: Schroders)
\n
The âBaaSâ model is genius and could develop into a $500M a year revenue opportunity for NIO long term. Although Ford is ramping up its investments in battery technology, the winner in this category is: NIO.
\n
Sales growth and valuation
\n
Fordâs sales in May grew 4.1% Y/Y but electrified vehicle sales (including hybrids) surged 184% Y/Y as Ford sold a record 10,364 EVs/hybrids in May. Escape electrified sales and Explorer Hybrid grew sales at 125% and 132% Y/Y showing strong customer uptake. NIO delivered 6,711 vehicles last month including 3,017 ES6s, 1,412 ES8s and 2,282 EC6s. Total Y/Y delivery growth for May was 95.3%.
\n
Ford's sales are fifty-four times larger than NIO's which creates more sales growth and revaluation potential for NIO.
\n
Data by YCharts
\n
The difference in valuation between Ford and NIO is like the difference between night and day. This is because Ford is still seen as a mature vehicle maker with expected enterprise sales growth in the low-to-mid digits, despite explosive growth in the EV category. Ford is expected to grow revenues by 33% until FY 2025 (base year: FY 2020) and NIO by 808%!
\n
Due to these differences in sales growth, NIO is the complete opposite of Ford, at least as far as valuation goes. The Chinese EV-maker is expected to see sales and delivery growth close to 100% this year and since NIO is only dealing in EVs, NIO gets a much higher market-cap-to-sales ratio than Ford.
\n
(Source: Author)
\n
NIO has larger risks...
\n
NIO is the more risky venture, but also the one that offers the most promise. Government policy favors EV-makers like NIO. The potential for total global sales growth is larger for NIO as it operates from a smaller revenue base compared to Ford. But there are also a few things that work against NIO. For example, recalls due to production defects would be a much bigger challenge for NIO to overcome than for Ford which can rely on a global service and distribution network. NIOâs valuation is also not without risk as an unexpected slowing of sales growth due to production setbacks would leave a much larger dent in the financials.
\n
Final verdict
\n
NIO is definitely the more âsexyâ vehicle maker. Strong adoption and sales growth in China and Europe support NIO. Its super smart BaaS model which decouples vehicle purchase prices from battery costs is genius. You pay a high price for this growth but the market opportunity for NIO is immense.
\n
Fordâs EV sales are booming and the percentage of EV sales will increase as the vehicle maker electrifies its fleet. Ford has a lot of potential in the EV market but since EV sales are still a relatively low percentage of total sales, it will take a long time for Ford to complete its transformation.
\n
If you believe in the potential of the global EV market, buy NIO. If you believe in the potential of the global EV market and donât like much risk, buy Ford.
","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Ford Or NIO? The gain followed an analyst's move to give the stock a significant price target increase. Canaccord Genuity analyst Jed Dorsheimer now thinks the electric-car maker's shares could rise to $1,071 within the next 12 months.

After the growth stock hit an all-time high of just over $900 earlier this year, it slid sharply during part of February and the beginning of March. Has the pullback created a buying opportunity?

The path to $1,071

Dorsheimer more than doubled his price target for Tesla, increasing it from $419 to $1,071. In addition, the analyst changed his rating on the stock from hold to buy.

While Tesla makes most of its revenue from electric cars, the analyst's upgrade for the stock today has a lot to do with his bullish view for the company's solar and energy storage business. He believes Tesla's energy generation and storage business could rake in $8 billion of revenue annually by 2025 thanks to an \"Apple-esque ecosystem of energy products\" and \"harmonized electrification.\" Dorsheimer thinks that as Tesla resolves the battery cell supply shortage it said it was facing in its most recent quarterly update, the company is well positioned to grow the business through sales of its energy storage products. He also believes Tesla is several years ahead of the competition in energy storage, giving it an edge.

Momentum in energy

Though Tesla's electric-car business gets more attention than its energy storage business since that's where the bulk of the company's sales come from, energy storage deployments actually grew faster in 2020 than electric-car sales. Has the pullback created a buying opportunity?IMAGE SOURCE: GETTY IMAGES.The path to $1,071Dorsheimer more than doubled his price target for Tesla, increasing it from $419 to $1,071. He also believes Tesla is several years ahead of the competition in energy storage, giving it an edge.Momentum in energyThough Tesla's electric-car business gets more attention than its energy storage business since that's where the bulk of the company's sales come from, energy storage deployments actually grew faster in 2020 than electric-car sales. Total energy storage deployments, measured in gigawatt hours (GWh), increased 83% year over year to 3 GWh in 2020.\"This growth was driven mainly by the popularity of Megapack, our utility scale storage product,\" Tesla told investors in its fourth-quarter update. \"Powerwall demand continues to increase as the residential business continues to grow.\"Impressively, this growth came even as production was limited. \"Our energy storage business continues to be supply constrained as backlog remains strong,\" Tesla said. But its efforts to increase cell production will help the company ramp up supply \"in the next few months.\" Because of this, the automaker anticipates its energy storage business will grow at approximately the same rate in 2021 as it did in 2020.Tesla's solar business is growing slower, with megawatts of solar deployments increasing 18% in 2020 from the prior year. But this segment saw accelerated growth in the fourth quarter, when deployments grew 59% year over year. While investors should be sure to do their own due diligence on Tesla stock, Dorsheimer does highlight an often-underappreciated aspect of the business that could become a significant contributor to Tesla's bottom line.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":159,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":810458527,"gmtCreate":1629995400069,"gmtModify":1676530196841,"author":{"id":"3554854598717843","authorId":"3554854598717843","name":"mokkie","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/6cd87f99bfb3537660593815fa3f088b","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3554854598717843","idStr":"3554854598717843"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$NIO Inc.(NIO)$Patience","listText":"$NIO Inc.(NIO)$Patience","text":"$NIO Inc.(NIO)$Patience","images":[{"img":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/c737167b0e3b5b8bcc7ba575b4a53f08","width":"828","height":"1434"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":8,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/810458527","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":371,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":881320435,"gmtCreate":1631296816227,"gmtModify":1676530523539,"author":{"id":"3554854598717843","authorId":"3554854598717843","name":"mokkie","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/6cd87f99bfb3537660593815fa3f088b","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3554854598717843","idStr":"3554854598717843"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Ford(F)$come on, u can do it","listText":"$Ford(F)$come on, u can do it","text":"$Ford(F)$come on, u can do it","images":[{"img":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/4b5677be2e50723815db40360fb7a923","width":"828","height":"1434"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/881320435","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":535,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":141786006,"gmtCreate":1625891825405,"gmtModify":1703750588657,"author":{"id":"3554854598717843","authorId":"3554854598717843","name":"mokkie","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/6cd87f99bfb3537660593815fa3f088b","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3554854598717843","idStr":"3554854598717843"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$General Motors(GM)$Nice and steady","listText":"$General Motors(GM)$Nice and steady","text":"$General Motors(GM)$Nice and steady","images":[{"img":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/9a1b0bedce6d5f60bbd55337d1489311","width":"828","height":"1434"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":5,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/141786006","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":175,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":159057002,"gmtCreate":1624932724806,"gmtModify":1703848251237,"author":{"id":"3554854598717843","authorId":"3554854598717843","name":"mokkie","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/6cd87f99bfb3537660593815fa3f088b","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3554854598717843","idStr":"3554854598717843"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Good time to pick up on the dip?","listText":"Good time to pick up on the dip?","text":"Good time to pick up on the dip?","images":[{"img":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/e725e93bafec81c8b4e6b16a4d2ef680","width":"750","height":"1324"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":1,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/159057002","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":46,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[{"author":{"id":"3557227905112544","authorId":"3557227905112544","name":"ShaunVee","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/5f64fe4fcaa4f1d2aedde844df964cb4","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"authorIdStr":"3557227905112544","idStr":"3557227905112544"},"content":"Dividend is going to rise real soon. The cryptocurrency uses more energy than entire countries such as Sweden and Malaysia, according to the Cambridge Bitcoin Electricity Consumption Index.\nTo understand why bitcoin is so energy-intensive, you have to look at its underlying technology, the blockchain.\nBitcoin's public ledger is decentralized, meaning it isn't controlled by any single authority. It's constantly being updated by a network of computers around the world.\nSo-called miners run purpose-built computers to solve complex math puzzles in order to make a transaction go through. This is the only way to mint new bitcoins.\nMiners do not run this operation for free. They have to shell out huge sums on specialized equipment. A key incentive of bitcoin's model, known as \"proof of work,\" is the promise of being rewarded in some bitcoin if you manage to solve its complex hashing algorithm.\nIt's worth noting thatdogecoin, which has risen wildly in price lately on the back of support from Musk, also uses a proof-of-work mechanism.\nCarol Alexander, a professor at the University of Sussex Business School, explains that bitcoin's mining \"difficulty\" â a measure of the computational effort it takes to mine bitcoin â has been going \"up and up\" over the last three years.\n\"More and more electricity is being used,\" Alexander told CNBC. \"That means that the network difficulty will also be going up (and) more miners are coming in because the hash rate's going up.\"\nBitcoin's price is up almost 70% so far this year. As it goes up in price, the revenue to miners also increases, incentivizing more participants to mine the cryptocurrency.\nMeanwhile, Musk isn't the only one who's worried about the environmental impact of bitcoin. In February, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen warned that the digital coin is \"extremely inefficient\" for making transactions and uses a \"staggering\" amount of power.\nDoes bitcoin actually harm the environment?\nIt's complicated. On the one hand, bitcoin's network uses anunfathomable amount of energy. Much of the mining of bitcoin is concentrated in China, whose economy is still heavily reliant on coal.\nLast month, a coal mine in the Xinjiang region flooded and shut down. This took nearly a quarter of bitcoin's hash rate â or computing power â offline, according to crypto industry publicationCoinDesk.\nIn March, China's Inner Mongolia region said it wouldshut down cryptocurrency mining operationsin the region due to concerns over energy consumption.\nOn the other side of the debate, bitcoin investors have attempted to push back on the narrative that it's harmful for the environment.\nWhile it's difficult to determine the energy mix that powers bitcoin, some in the crypto industry say miners are incentivized to use renewables as it's getting cheaper to produce them. The company is pouring $20 billion into two new facilities in Arizona, and its annual capital spending is right around that $20 billion mark.

But TSMC is spending even bigger. The company plans to spend a whopping $100 billion over the next three years to expand capacity. The company's Zen architecture is the foundation of its Ryzen PC and EPYC server chips, with the latest iteration of each built on TSMC's 7nm process. AMD has grown its market share considerably, and it grew revenue to nearly $10 billion in 2020. In many cases, AMD's chips are outperforming Intel's chips, and they're using considerably less power thanks to the advanced manufacturing process.

AMD's comeback required a few things to happen. AMD needed to design a better architecture; third-party foundries like TSMC needed to continually launch improved manufacturing processes without issue; and Intel needed to make serious missteps. TSMC will probably need to have some missteps of its own.

I can't put odds on Intel's comeback, but I know that it's never a good idea to simply assume whatever is happening now will continue to happen forever. The two will keep working together on philanthropic efforts, which have addressed education, gender equality and health care.\"After a great deal of thought and a lot of work on our relationship, we have made the decision to end our marriage,\" Bill and Melinda Gates wrote in a statement that Bill Gatestweeted out.âOver the last 27 years, we have raised three incredible children and built a foundation that works all over the world to enable all people to lead healthy, productive lives. We continue to share a belief in that mission and will continue our work together at the foundation, but we no longer believe we can grow together as a couple in this next phase of our lives. We ask for space and privacy for our family as we begin to navigate this new life.âThe decision reflects a personal change at the top of American business.Bill Gates led Microsoft as CEO from its founding with Paul Allen in 1975 until 2000, leaving Steve Ballmer to run the company, while Bill Gates became chairman and chief software architect. In 2008 Gatesgave up his day-to-day roleat the company to spend more time on the nonprofit Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.Last year Bill Gatesstepped downfrom Microsoftâs board asthe coronavirusbecame a force around the world. He began spending more time on the foundation alongside Melinda Gates. The two are co-chairs and trustees of the foundation, which launched in 2000.Bill and Melinda Gates both worked at Microsoft. She had been a general manager at the software company, where she worked on products such as the Encarta encyclopedia, according to herLinkedIn profile. The two met at a dinner for Microsoft employees in 1987. âIt took him quite a few months before he asked me out,â Melinda Gateslater said. Bill Gates hadweighed the pros and cons on a blackboard, and in 1994 the couple were married in Hawaii.Financial details of the Gateses parting ways are not yet clear. Bill Gates owns 1.37% of Microsoftâs outstanding shares, which are worth more than $26 billion, according to FactSet. The couple were creators, along with Warren Buffett, of theGiving Pledge, a program that requires participants to give away more than half of their wealth. At one point the couple decided to move $20 billion worth of Microsoft stock to the foundation as they sought to increase their commitment to philanthropy, Bill Gates wrote in a 2019blog post. Today the foundation has more than $51 billion in assets, according to a tax filing, making itone of the worldâs wealthiest foundations.âIn the case of Melinda, it is a truly equal partner,â Bill Gates said in the 2019 Netflix documentary âInside Billâs Brain.â âSheâs a lot like me in that she is optimistic and she is interested in science. She is better with people than I am. Sheâs a tiny bit less hardcore about knowing, you know, immunology, than I am.âIn 2015 the two began pursuing areas they were interested in. Bill Gates established Breakthrough Energy, an initiative to slow climate change that includes a venture arm, and Melinda Gates created Pivotal Ventures, a company that makes investments to foster equality. For Valentineâs Day in 2020, Bill Gates posted a photoon Instagramshowing him standing with his arm around Melinda Gates. âI couldnât ask for a better partner on this journey,â the caption said. Each year for more than a decade the Gateses have published a letter about their foundation work. If thatâs the case, its stock could be a bargain.B","content":"
Coinbase might be the Google of cryptocurrencies. If thatâs the case, its stock could be a bargain.

Barronâs Avi Salzman made the case for owning Coinbase stock in the April 19 issue of the magazine, arguing that itâs âa novel company with competitive advantages that have enabled it to increase market share despite fierce rivals.â The article also compared Coinbase to Shopify (SHOP), Square (SQ), Charles Schwab (SCHW), and Nasdaq (NDAQ).

But Coinbase also looks a lot like Alphabet (GOOGL) didat the time of its IPO. Google, as the company was known then, was worth roughly $23 billion when it made its public debut. That was 2004, when the S&P 500 was around 1,100. Today, Coinbase is worth about $87 billionâbased on the roughly 260 million fully diluted shares countâand the S&P 500 is at almost 4,200.

Back then, Googleâs valuation raised some eyebrows. But Google was also generating earnings and free cash flow. Fast forward to today and Alphabet has generated about $240 billion in free cash flow over the course of its existence. That has made investors, who bought shares at $85 in its IPO very happy.

Coinbase, like Google, is already making moneyâa lot of money. The company generated about $320 million in cash from operations during 2020 from $1.2 billion in sales. In the first quarter of 2021, Coinbase revenue came in at $1.8 billion. Earnings were roughly $750 million. Coinbaseâs net margin in the first quarter works out to roughly 42%. Thatâs high, but not all that high for an exchange. The average net profit margin for the big four publicly traded exchanges is about 35%.

Yes, Coinbase is already one of the worldâs most valuable exchanges. The Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) has a market valueâincluding debtâof roughly $84 billion.CME Group (CME), Nasdaq, and Cboe Global Markets (CBOE) are valued at $76 billion, $29 billion, and $12 billion, respectively.

The pace of value creation is breathtaking and will bring claims of âbubbleâ with it. The Intercontinental Exchange, after all, owns the 200-year-old New York Stock Exchange. Coinbase was founded in 2012 to trade Bitcoin, which was introduced in 2008. And despite its lack of pedigree, Coinbase doesnât look all that expensive compared with the four traditional exchanges. It trades at 15 times enterprise value to sales, compared with an average of 11 times enterprise value to sales for the traditional exchanges. Whatâs more, the exchange stocks traded at 15 to 18 times EV to sales when they were faster-growing companies.

At 15 times annualized first-quarter sales, Coinbase would be worth $108 billion, or roughly $415 a share, 21% higher than Fridayâs close of $342.

The trade is not without risk. Coinbase is inextricably linked to the success of Bitcoin. When it rises, trading volume does too. When it falls, so will trading activity. Another risk is competition. More exchanges will pop up, attempting to stake out ground in the new crypto land rush. But, like the search business before it, crypto might end up supporting very few players, and Coinbase could turn out to be Bing and not Google.

Fee compression, too, could be a problem. Coinbase can charge around 4%, in a day when stocks can be bought and sold for free. Fees will likely fall, which will pressure sales growth. But Coinbase is diversifying away from just transaction fees, notes MKM Partners analyst Rohit Kulkarni, just like Google became more than search. Kulkarni points out that more than 20% of retail users also âengage in at least one non-investing product,â writes Kulkarni. If thatâs the case, its stock could be a bargain.Barronâs Avi Salzman made the case for owning Coinbase stock in the April 19 issue of the magazine, arguing that itâs âa novel company with competitive advantages that have enabled it to increase market share despite fierce rivals.â The article also compared Coinbase to Shopify (SHOP), Square (SQ), Charles Schwab (SCHW), and Nasdaq (NDAQ).But Coinbase also looks a lot like Alphabet (GOOGL) didat the time of its IPO. Google, as the company was known then, was worth roughly $23 billion when it made its public debut. That was 2004, when the S&P 500 was around 1,100. Today, Coinbase is worth about $87 billionâbased on the roughly 260 million fully diluted shares countâand the S&P 500 is at almost 4,200.Back then, Googleâs valuation raised some eyebrows. But Google was also generating earnings and free cash flow. Fast forward to today and Alphabet has generated about $240 billion in free cash flow over the course of its existence. That has made investors, who bought shares at $85 in its IPO very happy.Coinbase, like Google, is already making moneyâa lot of money. The average net profit margin for the big four publicly traded exchanges is about 35%.Yes, Coinbase is already one of the worldâs most valuable exchanges. At 15 times annualized first-quarter sales, Coinbase would be worth $108 billion, or roughly $415 a share, 21% higher than Fridayâs close of $342.The trade is not without risk. Coinbase is inextricably linked to the success of Bitcoin. When it rises, trading volume does too. When it falls, so will trading activity. Another risk is competition. More exchanges will pop up, attempting to stake out ground in the new crypto land rush. But, like the search business before it, crypto might end up supporting very few players, and Coinbase could turn out to be Bing and not Google.Fee compression, too, could be a problem. Whatâs more, he points out that Coinbase could, eventually, offer its own cryptocurrency, like Binanceâanother exchange that issued a crypto token.Ultimately, though, there is one question potential Coinbase investors need to ask themselves: Do they believe cryptocurrencies have staying power? If theyâre not a fad, then Coinbase is a must-own stockâjust like Alphabet was.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":36,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":897208483,"gmtCreate":1628918314042,"gmtModify":1676529893885,"author":{"id":"3554854598717843","authorId":"3554854598717843","name":"mokkie","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/6cd87f99bfb3537660593815fa3f088b","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3554854598717843","idStr":"3554854598717843"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Vaxart, Inc(VXRT)$Believe in this","listText":"$Vaxart, Inc(VXRT)$Believe in this","text":"$Vaxart, Inc(VXRT)$Believe in this","images":[{"img":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/b2920535a50d6385039fff428a71d184","width":"828","height":"1434"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/897208483","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":215,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":153288367,"gmtCreate":1625027476759,"gmtModify":1703850468061,"author":{"id":"3554854598717843","authorId":"3554854598717843","name":"mokkie","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/6cd87f99bfb3537660593815fa3f088b","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3554854598717843","idStr":"3554854598717843"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Uranium(UEC)$Whatâs happening to UEC?","listText":"$Uranium(UEC)$Whatâs happening to UEC?","text":"$Uranium(UEC)$Whatâs happening to UEC?","images":[{"img":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/5ca0391bc94cecfa5433ef53456a6844","width":"828","height":"1434"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/153288367","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":277,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":198396569,"gmtCreate":1620923241251,"gmtModify":1704350616410,"author":{"id":"3554854598717843","authorId":"3554854598717843","name":"mokkie","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/6cd87f99bfb3537660593815fa3f088b","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3554854598717843","idStr":"3554854598717843"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Interesting","listText":"Interesting","text":"Interesting","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/198396569","repostId":"1116555518","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1116555518","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1620913985,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1116555518?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-05-13 21:53","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Why everyone from Elon Musk to Janet Yellen is worried about bitcoinâs energy usage","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1116555518","media":"cnbc","summary":"KEY POINTS\n\nElon Musk said Tesla had halted purchases of vehicles with bitcoin due to concerns over ","content":"
\n
KEY POINTS\n\nElon Musk said Tesla had halted purchases of vehicles with bitcoin due to concerns over the ârapidly increasing use of fossil fuels for bitcoin mining.â\nThe cryptocurrency uses more energy...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n","source":"cnbc_highlight","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; The cryptocurrency uses more energy than entire countries such as Sweden and Malaysia, according to the Cambridge Bitcoin Electricity Consumption Index.\nTo understand why bitcoin is so energy-intensive, you have to look at its underlying technology, the blockchain.\nBitcoin's public ledger is decentralized, meaning it isn't controlled by any single authority. It's constantly being updated by a network of computers around the world.\nSo-called miners run purpose-built computers to solve complex math puzzles in order to make a transaction go through. This is the only way to mint new bitcoins.\nMiners do not run this operation for free. They have to shell out huge sums on specialized equipment. A key incentive of bitcoin's model, known as \"proof of work,\" is the promise of being rewarded in some bitcoin if you manage to solve its complex hashing algorithm.\nIt's worth noting thatdogecoin, which has risen wildly in price lately on the back of support from Musk, also uses a proof-of-work mechanism.\nCarol Alexander, a professor at the University of Sussex Business School, explains that bitcoin's mining \"difficulty\" â a measure of the computational effort it takes to mine bitcoin â has been going \"up and up\" over the last three years.\n\"More and more electricity is being used,\" Alexander told CNBC. \"That means that the network difficulty will also be going up (and) more miners are coming in because the hash rate's going up.\"\nBitcoin's price is up almost 70% so far this year. As it goes up in price, the revenue to miners also increases, incentivizing more participants to mine the cryptocurrency.\nMeanwhile, Musk isn't the only one who's worried about the environmental impact of bitcoin. In February, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen warned that the digital coin is \"extremely inefficient\" for making transactions and uses a \"staggering\" amount of power.\nDoes bitcoin actually harm the environment?\nIt's complicated. On the one hand, bitcoin's network uses anunfathomable amount of energy. Much of the mining of bitcoin is concentrated in China, whose economy is still heavily reliant on coal.\nLast month, a coal mine in the Xinjiang region flooded and shut down. This took nearly a quarter of bitcoin's hash rate â or computing power â offline, according to crypto industry publicationCoinDesk.\nIn March, China's Inner Mongolia region said it wouldshut down cryptocurrency mining operationsin the region due to concerns over energy consumption.\nOn the other side of the debate, bitcoin investors have attempted to push back on the narrative that it's harmful for the environment.\nWhile it's difficult to determine the energy mix that powers bitcoin, some in the crypto industry say miners are incentivized to use renewables as it's getting cheaper to produce them. In China, the province of Sichuan is known to attract miners due to its cheap electricity and rich hydropower resources.\nLast month,Jack Dorsey'sfintech companySquareand Cathie Wood's Ark Invest put out amemoclaiming that bitcoin will actually drive renewable energy innovation. However, critics said they had avested interestin doing so.\nAlexander said the debate around bitcoin's environmental impact was misguided as most transactions with the digital asset aren't happening on the blockchain.\n\"Almost all the trading is not done on the blockchain,\" she said. \"It's done on secondary markets, centralized exchanges. They're not even recorded on the blockchain.\"\nESG concerns\nRegardless of whether bitcoin is actually a polluter or not, the negative connotations around its energy consumption have worried investors conscious of companies' ethical and environmental responsibilities.\nESG, or environmental, social and corporate governance, has become agrowing trendin financial markets, with portfolio managers increasingly incorporating sustainable investments into their strategies.\nSome Tesla shareholders may be worried that the company is betting big on bitcoin while also claiming to be a green energy company.\n\"Bitcoin backers will be wondering where this leaves the future of the cryptocurrency,\" Laith Khalaf, a financial analyst at investment firm AJ Bell, said in a note Thursday.\n\"Environmental matters are an incredibly sensitive subject right now, and Tesla's move might serve as a wake-up call to businesses and consumers using Bitcoin, who hadn't hitherto considered its carbon footprint,\" Khalaf added.\n\"Tesla's decision certainly puts pressure on other big companies who accept Bitcoin to review their practices, because boardrooms will now be wary about getting it in the ear from ESG investors on the shareholder register.\"","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":78,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"lives":[]}
