There may be a bargain afoot, moreover, as XPeng stock is sinking even while one of its new vehicles is flying high โ literally.XPeng (NYSE: XPEV)introduced an SUV last month, and you can already see some of these vehicles on the roadways in China. Yet, thereโs another vehicle thatโs capturing some attention in the press, which could help downtrodden XPeng stock turn around and head for the skies. With these factors in mind, I am bullish on XPeng stock.XPeng is a Chinese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, and I know what you might be thinking right now.ย There are plenty of EV makers out thereย already. Why invest in one when thereโs so much competition?Thatโs a valid question, but XPeng isnโt like all the other clean energy vehicle manufacturers. As weโll discover, XPeng has extremely high quality and sustainability standards for its EVs. Besides, the company is willing to take risks and innovate while others just imitate. So, are you ready to test drive XPEV stock?Financial Traders Donโt Appreciate XPeng at AllSome companies just canโt seem to get any respect in the financial markets, even when they create high-quality products. XPeng is a perfect example of this, as the automaker is committed to producing the finest EVs in China and perhaps even the world. For XPEV stock to trade under $10 is absurd, in my opinion. The shares cost $50 a piece at the beginning of the year. Now, theyโre trading at less than $10. Does the market really think that XPeng, as a company, is currently worth one-fifth of its value in January? If you agree that this is irrational and represents an opportunity, then hereโs something else to consider. Just recently, XPeng earned its third consecutive annual AA rating from MSCI ESG Research. This puts XPeng among the top carmakers in the world in terms of ESG performance. Now, thatโs what I call a commitment to quality. On top of that, XPeng received an ESG score of 49 from the Dow Jones Sustainability Index. This marks a 48% increase compared to 2021โs score and is the leading score compared to other Chinese automakers.XPengโs G9 Flagship SUV is Already on the RoadSo, we know that XPeng makes high-quality EVs, but what has the company been up to lately? What we know for certain is that XPeng is getting its new and powerful G9 Flagship SUV onto driveways and roadways in China, and this could be the start of a massive revenue stream for XPeng. The company just launched the G9 Flagship SUV less than a month ago, and it could be a game-changer. CEO and Chairman He Xiaopeng touted the G9 series as the โworldโs fastest-charging mass-production SUV.โ The G9 Flagship SUV also offers the โindustryโs first full-scenario Advanced Driver Assistance System,โ along with a dual-chamber air suspension system.Iโll bet the โworldโs fastest-charging mass-production SUVโ part caught your eye. How fast can the G9 Flagship SUV charge? Apparently, the 4C version of G9 can charge from 10% to 80% in 15 minutes, while the standard 3C version can charge from 10% to 80% in 20 minutes โ not too shabby, you must admit.Furthermore, the G9 series isnโt just a prototype model sitting in a garage somewhere. Itโs actually on the roadways, as XPeng delivered 184 G9 Flagship SUVs in September. Thatโs a decent start, and mass deliveries for the G9 series are scheduled to start later this month.XPeng is Turning Heads with an Electric Flying CarXPengโs investors should stay grounded โ but donโt be afraid to look to the skies, as the company just completed a flight of XPengโs electric flying car in Dubai. Sure, this will generate some publicity for XPeng, but prospective investors should also consider the market-disrupting potential here. So, here are the details. XPeng affiliate XPeng Aeroht conducted what was essentially a test flight of its electric flying car, the Xpeng X2, in Dubai recently. Actually, โpublicity stuntโ might be a more apt description than โtest flight.โWhichever way we choose to describe the flight of the X2, it still represents a step forward in flying-car technology. Thatโs because the two-seater X2 features an โenclosed cockpit with a minimalist teardrop-shaped designโ and a โcomplete carbon fiber structure to reduce weight.โThe X2 even offers an autonomous driving mode โ if you dare to use it. If not, then X2 drivers/flyers can always revert to manual driving mode. Either way, if the X2 โtakes offโ in terms of sales and revenue generation, this could put XPeng in the driverโs seat of a high-potential niche industry. Is XPEV Stock a Buy or Sell, According to Analysts?Turning to Wall Street, XPEV stock is a Strong Buy based on nine Buys and two Hold ratings. The average XPeng price target is $44.79, implying 369% upside potential. Conclusion: Should You Consider XPeng Stock?Frankly, it seems irrational that XPEV stock is below $10. This is an innovative EV manufacturer with an uncompromising commitment to quality and ESG standards.Additionally, XPeng has a powerful electric SUV that charges very quickly, not to mention an electric flying car that could become a disruptive force in an emerging industry. With all of that in mind, risk-tolerant investors should consider getting into the fast lane with a few shares of XPeng stock.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":98,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"hots":[{"id":9004133093,"gmtCreate":1642524449652,"gmtModify":1676533718868,"author":{"id":"3565598197015022","authorId":"3565598197015022","name":"wannabeM","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/f6e2d2777d8ba9c5d02ddc2e0637dbad","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3565598197015022","authorIdStr":"3565598197015022"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Wow warcraft !!!","listText":"Wow warcraft !!!","text":"Wow warcraft !!!","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":5,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9004133093","repostId":"1149966362","repostType":2,"repost":{"id":"1149966362","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Providing stock market headlines, business news, financials and earnings ","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Tiger Newspress","id":"1079075236","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8274c5b9d4c2852bfb1c4d6ce16c68ba"},"pubTimestamp":1642512559,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1149966362?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-01-18 21:29","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Microsoft to acquire Activision Blizzard in all-cash deal valued at $68.7 bln","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1149966362","media":"Tiger Newspress","summary":"Today, Microsoft Corp.ย announced plans to acquire Activision Blizzard Inc., a leader in game develop","content":"<html><head></head><body><p>Today, Microsoft Corp.ย announced plans to acquire Activision Blizzard Inc., a leader in game development and interactive entertainment content publisher. Some are considering buying in hope a turnaround is taking shape. After all, earlier in November, <em>Reuters</em> reported that the company was laying off a tenth of its workforce. While layoffs are unfortunate, they sometimes mark the beginning of a turnaround.</p><p>Layoffs can enable troubled firms to rightsize their businesses, resulting in improved operating performance. However, I wouldnโt assume that will be the case here with Nio. In fact, instead of serving as a sort of a silver bullet for Nioโs problems, the layoff announcement may mark the beginning of the end for this onetime high-flier. Read on, as I explain below.</p><h2 id=\"id_2613708765\">NIO Stock Is a Lose-Lose Situation</h2><p>Many growth stocks have bounced back this year, thanks to a combination of cost reduction efforts and re-accelerating growth. Yet if youโre banking a similar outcome will arise with Nio think otherwise. For one, it is highly questionable that any resurgence in growth is just around the corner.</p><p>Sure, last month, Nio reported year-over-year sales growth of nearly 60%. However, while impressive on a year-over-year basis, on a month-over-month basis, deliveries growth was far less impressive (just 2.77%).</p><p>As <em>InvestorPlaceโs</em> Thomas Niel argued a few weeks back, this weak sales growth comes as competitors have reported considerably stronger sequential sales growth. Itโs possible that competition is getting the better of Nio, with little suggesting that this โalso ranโ will soon surge back towards the front of the pack.</p><p>Meanwhile, while growth keeps stalling, job cuts may not get meaningful results when it comes to Nioโs path to profitability.</p><p>Layoff-related cost savings may be more than countered by a sharp decrease in gross margins and an increase in overhead expenses in recent quarters, as seen in Nioโs most recently-released quarterly results. With growth slowing down while net losses remain high, Nio appears set to be stuck in a โlose-loseโ situation.</p><h2 id=\"id_3086176500\">The Beginning of the End</h2><p>While NIO stock has declined considerably since the height of the 2020/2021 EV stock bubble, the potential for Nio to bounce back after Chinaโs Covid shutdown, and continue on a course towards becoming a global name in EVs was enough to sustain a valuation in the $10 billion to $20 billion range, despite high reported operating losses.</p><p>However, as the Chinese EV market has clearly bounced back, but Nio is hitting a growth wall, this bull case is finally shattered. Falling behind in its home market, the company may have to resign to becoming just a small name in the space.</p><p>Nioโs execution issues also make it very doubtful the EV maker will find success in overseas markets, despite continued expansion efforts in Europe, and the companyโs aim to enter the U.S. market by 2025. While thereโs nothing wrong with merely becoming a mid-sized automaker, a severely-limited growth runway means a further re-rating to the downside of Nioโs valuation.</p><p>This is likely the case, even if the company makes progress improving gross margins/right-sizing overhead in order to become profitable. Some are considering buying in hope a turnaround is taking shape. After all, earlier in November, Reuters reported that the company was laying off a tenth of its workforce. While layoffs are unfortunate, they sometimes mark the beginning of a turnaround.Layoffs can enable troubled firms to rightsize their businesses, resulting in improved operating performance. However, I wouldnโt assume that will be the case here with Nio. In fact, instead of serving as a sort of a silver bullet for Nioโs problems, the layoff announcement may mark the beginning of the end for this onetime high-flier. Read on, as I explain below.NIO Stock Is a Lose-Lose SituationMany growth stocks have bounced back this year, thanks to a combination of cost reduction efforts and re-accelerating growth. Yet if youโre banking a similar outcome will arise with Nio think otherwise. For one, it is highly questionable that any resurgence in growth is just around the corner.Sure, last month, Nio reported year-over-year sales growth of nearly 60%. However, while impressive on a year-over-year basis, on a month-over-month basis, deliveries growth was far less impressive (just 2.77%).As InvestorPlaceโs Thomas Niel argued a few weeks back, this weak sales growth comes as competitors have reported considerably stronger sequential sales growth. Itโs possible that competition is getting the better of Nio, with little suggesting that this โalso ranโ will soon surge back towards the front of the pack.Meanwhile, while growth keeps stalling, job cuts may not get meaningful results when it comes to Nioโs path to profitability.Layoff-related cost savings may be more than countered by a sharp decrease in gross margins and an increase in overhead expenses in recent quarters, as seen in Nioโs most recently-released quarterly results. With growth slowing down while net losses remain high, Nio appears set to be stuck in a โlose-loseโ situation. The Beginning of the EndWhile NIO stock has declined considerably since the height of the 2020/2021 EV stock bubble, the potential for Nio to bounce back after Chinaโs Covid shutdown, and continue on a course towards becoming a global name in EVs was enough to sustain a valuation in the $10 billion to $20 billion range, despite high reported operating losses. However, as the Chinese EV market has clearly bounced back, but Nio is hitting a growth wall, this bull case is finally shattered. Falling behind in its home market, the company may have to resign to becoming just a small name in the space.Nioโs execution issues also make it very doubtful the EV maker will find success in overseas markets, despite continued expansion efforts in Europe, and the companyโs aim to enter the U.S. market by 2025. While thereโs nothing wrong with merely becoming a mid-sized automaker, a severely-limited growth runway means a further re-rating to the downside of Nioโs valuation. This is likely the case, even if the company makes progress improving gross margins/right-sizing overhead in order to become profitable. Worse yet, if high losses continue, expect a severe de-rating.Bottom Line: Avoid This Slow-Motion Car WreckWhen it comes to downside risk with NIO, assume it to be as high as 100%. Yes, at this moment, the company is not experiencing severe financial distress. The companyโs war chest remains sufficient to absorb current cash burn. However, as InvestorPlaceโs Will Ashworth pointed out this week, Nio may only have cash on hand to sustain itself for another year. With this, itโs not out of the question to say that the company could need to conduct a highly-dilutive capital raise to get its financial house back in order. If thatโs not bad enough, itโs far from set in stone that (given current market conditions) Nio could obtain billions in new financing.Until evidence to the contrary emerges, consider it best to keep avoiding the slow-motion car wreck that is NIO stock.NIO stock earns a D rating in Portfolio Grader.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":339,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9980211457,"gmtCreate":1665736649279,"gmtModify":1676537657892,"author":{"id":"3565598197015022","authorId":"3565598197015022","name":"wannabeM","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/f6e2d2777d8ba9c5d02ddc2e0637dbad","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3565598197015022","authorIdStr":"3565598197015022"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"guruguru","listText":"guruguru","text":"guruguru","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9980211457","repostId":"1175220136","repostType":2,"repost":{"id":"1175220136","pubTimestamp":1665736038,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1175220136?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-10-14 16:27","market":"hk","language":"en","title":"China EV Play XPEV Stock Has Not Hit a Bottom Yet","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1175220136","media":"InvestorPlace","summary":"On paper,ย XPeng(XPEV) is 'cheaper' than other publicly-traded Chinese electric vehicle stocks. The lo","content":"<html><head></head><body><ul><li>On paper,ย <b>XPeng</b>(<b>XPEV</b>) is 'cheaper' than other publicly-traded Chinese electric vehicle stocks.</li><li>The low price hardly makes it a bargain, given this company is facing even more challenges than its peers.</li><li>XPEV is and will continue to be a "falling knife" situation, which makes avoiding it your best move.</li></ul><p>I can see why contrarian investors may be interested inย <b>XPeng</b>(NYSE:<b>XPEV</b>) stock. But their warnings are still going unheeded on a number of S&P 500 companies.</p><p>Nearly a dozen S&P 500 companies, including industrials <b>American Airlines</b> and <b>Snap-on</b> plus communications services <b><a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/LUMN\">Lumen Technologies</a></b> are still grossly overvalued compared to analysts' 12-month price targets on the stocks, says an Investor's Business Daily analysis of data from S&P Global Market Intelligence and MarketSmith.</p><p>By analysts' estimates, all 11 of these S&P 500 stocks are at least 10% overvalued. And the warnings come amid big run-ups in most of them. Investors are piling into stocks thought to benefit from a stronger economy. The 11 stocks are up an average 28.2% this year, while the SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust is up just 5.9%. What's more, eight of the 11 are up 20% or more in 2021 so far.</p><p>Seeing analysts dig in with warnings of lower price targets amid a rally, especially in cyclical stocks, is noteworthy.</p><p><b>S&P 500 Analysts Are Actually Bullish</b></p><p>Analysts have pounded the table warning of overvaluation of Tesla stock. And they also cautioned on shares of <b>ViacomCBS</b> and <b>Discovery</b> before they sold off.</p><p>But overall, analysts โ like usual โ are mostly bullish on S&P 500 stocks. Analysts' 12-month price targets on the individual stocks in the S&P 500 are 6.5% higher than Friday's closing prices.</p><p>And fundamentals back up the bullishness. Already this year, 60 companies told analysts their earnings in the current quarter will be better than they previously estimated, says John Butters, earnings analyst at Factset.</p><p>That's the highest number of S&P 500 companies issuing positive guidance for a quarter since at least 2006. Only about half that many companies were so positive on the same quarter a year ago. And that in turn means analysts now think S&P 500 companies' profit will jump 23.3% in the first quarter. They only saw a 15.8% jump in first quarter profit at the end of 2020.</p><p><b>But Analysts See Pockets Of Overvaluation</b></p><p>American Airlines is the S&P 500 stock analysts think is way beyond where it should be. And it's easy to see why.</p><p>Just this year, the airline's shares soared 45.4% to 22.93 a share. New investors piled into the airline's shares, even though it lost roughly $9 billion in 2020 as the pandemic all but shut down air travel. Analysts see a comeback, sort of. American is expected to only lose roughly $4 billion, or $7.61 a share, in 2021. But profitability isn't seen until 2022.</p><p>As a result, analysts' 12-month price target on American is just 15.47 a share. If that's right, it means the stock is 33% overvalued. And it doesn't have strong enough fundamentals to hold it up, either. The company's IBD Composite Rating is just 45. Do you know what to look at before buying American's stock?</p><p>Also in the industrials sector, analysts think tool seller Snap-on ran up too far, as well. Shares are up more than 34% this year to 229.63.</p><p>Unlike American, Snap-on has the fundamentals to back it up.</p><p>It sports a Composite Rating of 88. Snap-on's adjusted profit per share is seen hitting $12.44 in 2021, up nearly 7% from 2020. But again, analysts think the bulls are getting carried away. After all, profit fell 5% in 2020. So analysts think the company is only worth 190.33 a share in 12 months, or 16% less than it's trading now.</p><p><b>Watch Out For S&P 500 Dividend Darlings</b></p><p>High dividend payers in the S&P 500 are setting the markets on fire. All eight of the top yielding stocks in the S&P 500 are topping the index in 2021 so far. And that includes voice and data networking company, Lumen.</p><p>Lumen is known for its whopping 7.4% dividend yield. That's solid in a world when the S&P 500 yields just 1.5%. But it's even more famous among investors this year for a 35% jump in its stock price to 13.16. It's not exactly a screamingly positive fundamental story, either. Profit per share rose 26.5% in 2020. But profit is seen dropping 6.5% in 2021.</p><p>Analysts just think it's not worth what investors are paying. They're calling for Lumen to trade for 10.78 a share in 12 months, or 18% less than it is now.</p><p>It goes without saying analysts aren't always right. They're often wrong. But their warnings this year on S&P 500 high-flyers, though, have been spot on so worth at least listening to.</p><p><b>The Most Overvalued S&P 500 Stocks: Analysts</b></p><table><thead><tr><th>Company</th><th>Symbol</th><th>Target Price*</th><th>Stock YTD % Ch.</th><th>Implied Downside*</th><th>Sector</th><th>Composite Rating</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>American Airlines</td><td></td><td>15.47</td><td>45.4%</td><td><b>-32.5%</b></td><td>Industrials</td><td>45</td></tr><tr><td>Lumen Technologies</td><td></td><td>10.78</td><td>35.0%</td><td><b>-18.1%</b></td><td>Communication Services</td><td>61</td></tr><tr><td>Snap-on</td><td></td><td>190.33</td><td>34.2%</td><td><b>-17.1%</b></td><td>Industrials</td><td>88</td></tr><tr><td>Nucor</td><td></td><td>66.38</td><td>49.1%</td><td><b>-16.3%</b></td><td>Materials</td><td>97</td></tr><tr><td>Expeditors International of Washington</td><td></td><td>91.64</td><td>13.3%</td><td><b>-15.0%</b></td><td>Industrials</td><td>80</td></tr><tr><td>Franklin Resources</td><td></td><td>25.47</td><td>17.6%</td><td><b>-13.4%</b></td><td>Financials</td><td>79</td></tr><tr><td>Genuine Parts</td><td></td><td>104.33</td><td>18.0%</td><td><b>-12.0%</b></td><td>Consumer Discretionary</td><td>64</td></tr><tr><td>Whirlpool</td><td></td><td>196.44</td><td>23.6%</td><td><b>-11.9%</b></td><td>Consumer Discretionary</td><td>91</td></tr><tr><td>Iron Mountain</td><td></td><td>33.25</td><td>26.5%</td><td><b>-10.8%</b></td><td>Real Estate</td><td>70</td></tr><tr><td>Unum</td><td></td><td>24.73</td><td>20.8%</td><td><b>-10.8%</b></td><td>Financials</td><td>59</td></tr><tr><td>A. At the same time, there are reasons to believe that NIO will continue to underperform and burn cash since there's no indication that the business would be able to thrive in the current competitive environment in the EV industry.</p><h2 id=\"id_71035686\">Major Challenges Ahead</h2><p>Earlier this month, NIO reported its Q3 earnings results, which showed that its revenues increased by 46.6% Y/Y to $2.61 billion, but were below the estimates by $50 million. At the same time, while the company expects to deliver between 47,000 to 49,000 vehicles in Q4, which would result in ~150,000 deliveries in FY23, it won't meet the initial target of delivering 250,000 vehicles that was announced earlier this year.</p><p>Another major issue that needs to be mentioned is that NIO is likely going to remain unprofitable in the following years due to the ongoing price war within the EV industry that has been suppressing the margins. In Q3, NIO's vehicle margin was 11%, up Q/Q, but down from 16.4% a year ago.</p><p></p><p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/0c571a58d0469e6c4aa712d82015553e\" tg-width=\"640\" tg-height=\"265\"/></p><p>NIO's Vehicle Margin (Seeking Alpha)</p><p></p><p>The decline in margins has already resulted in an unsustainable cash burn rate for NIO. The company continues to burn over half a billion dollars each quarter and the only reason why it managed to avoid a liquidity crisis is due to the pricing of a secondary offering below the market prices at the expense of existing shareholders. The rise in cash reserves in Q3 has come not from operations but from the additional injection of liquidity thanks to the secondary offering, which I've mentioned in my latest article on the company.</p><p></p><p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/90b56d43a282ce08d90d899a8f160197\" tg-width=\"640\" tg-height=\"203\"/></p><p>NIO's Cash Reserves (Seeking Alpha)</p><p></p><p>What's more is that yesterday, NIO closed a $2.2 billion strategic equity investment from the Abu Dhabi-based fund CYVN Holdings. Under the deal, NIO has issued close to 300,000 new ordinary shares at the price of $7.50 per share, which is below the current market price, to CYVN which now has a ~20% stake in the company.</p><p>While the additional liquidity would certainly extend NIO's lifeline and give its management more time to figure out how to become profitable, the injection of liquidity also comes at a major cost to ordinary shareholders. NIO's share count has been gradually increasing each quarter as a result of such secondary offerings and at the end of Q3, its share count stood at 1.74 billion, up by ~5% Q/Q. Such deals below the market prices are diluting ordinary shareholders and making their investments in the company less attractive due to the rising share count.</p><p>Another thing that needs to be mentioned is that there's no guarantee that the injection of additional funds will help the company become profitable or even greatly improve vehicle margins anytime soon. After all, despite pricing secondary offerings and diluting its existing shareholders in the past, NIO failed to drastically improve its operations and avoid raising new funds. What's more is that despite delivering ~122,000 vehicles in 2022, its market share in China accounted for less than 1%. With ~150,000 deliveries expected this year, it's hard to see how NIO would be able to drastically improve its performance and mitigate the downside caused by the ongoing price war within the EV industry.</p><p>Considering all of this, it would be safe to say that NIO's upside is currently limited. Most of its margins are negative, it has received dozens of downside revisions in recent months, and its shares trade at over 2 times the company's sales with no signs of profitability in sight. With such data, it's almost impossible to make a proper valuation model to figure out what is the company's fair value in the current environment. Even though the street expects NIO to become profitable somewhere in 2026, there's no guarantee that that's going to be the case, especially if the price war within the EV industry won't be over by that time. What's more is that at the current cash burn rate, it's most likely that the company would be required to raise more cash and dilute its shareholders even more, despite the fact that it recently received additional liquidity.</p><h2 id=\"id_2546246271\">Geopolitical Risks To Consider</h2><p>What's also important to understand is that NIO has been actively looking for ways to expand its presence in other markets in order to mitigate the downside caused by the price war and the weaker growth of the Chinese economy. However, unlike Tesla (TSLA), NIO expands at a time when globalization slowly unraveling, and it becomes much harder to get access to other markets. While NIO still targets a launch in the United States in the future, the worsening of Sino-American relations and the implementation of protectionism policies are likely to prevent it from successfully expanding its presence in the American continent anytime soon.</p><p>What's more, is that it seems that NIO will also be unable to quickly expand its presence in Europe as well. The company is currently selling less than 1000 vehicles per quarter in Europe and the potential trade war between China and the European Union could undermine any growth efforts of NIO in the old continent.</p><h2 id=\"id_2016679895\">Is There Any Upside Left?</h2><p>There's one thing that could undermine my bearish thesis, and that's the aggressive ramp-up of deliveries that could expand NIO's market share within the Chinese EV industry. By shifting to the OEM model, NIO could exceed the vehicle delivery expectations for next year and make shareholders invest in the company's growth story, which could keep the momentum going for longer and push the shares higher in the near term.</p><p>While the potential ramp-up of deliveries is unlikely to improve the company's bottom-line performance due to the suppression of margins caused by external factors, it could nevertheless improve the overall sentiment and make the fundamentals less relevant for a while. Other than that, it's hard to see any positives of investing in NIO for the long run until the cash burn issue is fixed.</p><h2 id=\"id_3075326640\">The Bottom Line</h2><p>While NIO's shares gained momentum due to finding a technical support level and having a successful car event, they likely won't be able to significantly appreciate in the long run due to the constant dilution and an unsustainable cash burn rate. Even though it's a good thing that the company won't face a liquidity crunch anytime soon thanks to the recent injection of liquidity, it's still hard to see how NIO would be able to drastically improve its bottom-line performance given the suppression of margins and a lack of major growth catalysts.</p><p>Editor's Note: This article discusses one or more securities that do not trade on a major U.S. exchange. At the same time, there are reasons to believe that NIO will continue to underperform and burn cash since there's no indication that the business would be able to thrive in the current competitive environment in the EV industry.Major Challenges AheadEarlier this month, NIO reported its Q3 earnings results, which showed that its revenues increased by 46.6% Y/Y to $2.61 billion, but were below the estimates by $50 million. At the same time, while the company expects to deliver between 47,000 to 49,000 vehicles in Q4, which would result in ~150,000 deliveries in FY23, it won't meet the initial target of delivering 250,000 vehicles that was announced earlier this year.Another major issue that needs to be mentioned is that NIO is likely going to remain unprofitable in the following years due to the ongoing price war within the EV industry that has been suppressing the margins. In Q3, NIO's vehicle margin was 11%, up Q/Q, but down from 16.4% a year ago.NIO's Vehicle Margin (Seeking Alpha)The decline in margins has already resulted in an unsustainable cash burn rate for NIO. The company continues to burn over half a billion dollars each quarter and the only reason why it managed to avoid a liquidity crisis is due to the pricing of a secondary offering below the market prices at the expense of existing shareholders. The rise in cash reserves in Q3 has come not from operations but from the additional injection of liquidity thanks to the secondary offering, which I've mentioned in my latest article on the company.NIO's Cash Reserves (Seeking Alpha)What's more is that yesterday, NIO closed a $2.2 billion strategic equity investment from the Abu Dhabi-based fund CYVN Holdings. Under the deal, NIO has issued close to 300,000 new ordinary shares at the price of $7.50 per share, which is below the current market price, to CYVN which now has a ~20% stake in the company. While the additional liquidity would certainly extend NIO's lifeline and give its management more time to figure out how to become profitable, the injection of liquidity also comes at a major cost to ordinary shareholders. NIO's share count has been gradually increasing each quarter as a result of such secondary offerings and at the end of Q3, its share count stood at 1.74 billion, up by ~5% Q/Q. Such deals below the market prices are diluting ordinary shareholders and making their investments in the company less attractive due to the rising share count.Another thing that needs to be mentioned is that there's no guarantee that the injection of additional funds will help the company become profitable or even greatly improve vehicle margins anytime soon. After all, despite pricing secondary offerings and diluting its existing shareholders in the past, NIO failed to drastically improve its operations and avoid raising new funds. What's more is that despite delivering ~122,000 vehicles in 2022, its market share in China accounted for less than 1%. With ~150,000 deliveries expected this year, it's hard to see how NIO would be able to drastically improve its performance and mitigate the downside caused by the ongoing price war within the EV industry.Considering all of this, it would be safe to say that NIO's upside is currently limited. However, unlike Tesla (TSLA), NIO expands at a time when globalization slowly unraveling, and it becomes much harder to get access to other markets. The company is currently selling less than 1000 vehicles per quarter in Europe and the potential trade war between China and the European Union could undermine any growth efforts of NIO in the old continent. Is There Any Upside Left? There's one thing that could undermine my bearish thesis, and that's the aggressive ramp-up of deliveries that could expand NIO's market share within the Chinese EV industry. By shifting to the OEM model, NIO could exceed the vehicle delivery expectations for next year and make shareholders invest in the company's growth story, which could keep the momentum going for longer and push the shares higher in the near term. While the potential ramp-up of deliveries is unlikely to improve the company's bottom-line performance due to the suppression of margins caused by external factors, it could nevertheless improve the overall sentiment and make the fundamentals less relevant for a while. Other than that, it's hard to see any positives of investing in NIO for the long run until the cash burn issue is fixed. The Bottom LineWhile NIO's shares gained momentum due to finding a technical support level and having a successful car event, they likely won't be able to significantly appreciate in the long run due to the constant dilution and an unsustainable cash burn rate.
