$Sea Ltd(SE)$extracted from a twitter thread of key takeaways from @bjornng who attended SEA's AGM: I attended the $SE AGM earlier today.Answers were general, but Forrest Li's closing speech was what hit the homerun for me. He talked about how Sea Limited has created new opportunities/experiences in developing countries like Indonesia. Here are 6 of my key takeaways:1/ GarenaIn Indonesia, not everyone has access to expensive phones or computers, especially in rural areas.Garena has created a low barrier of entry for Free Fire in a way where even $100-$200 mobile phones can enjoy a smooth gaming experience.2/ ShopeeEven just 1 hour from the city center of Jakarta, there are only small mom & pop shops. It's not easy to find cert
$Sea Ltd(SE)$ When a company like shopee, who had a previous goal of spending as much as they can to expand moves their main goal to achieve maximum profitability, you know the company is finally heading on the right track. Hard measures and decisions will have to be made, and in the media, it'll always look bad as FUD will spread like wildfire. but as investors we need to look into what's the company's direction is now, instead of just reacting to what hard actions they are taking as a sign that they're going to crash.
$Sea Ltd(SE)$as long as SEA has continuous revenue growth, as a long term investor i'm not as concerned with the EPS performance in the short-term. expenditures in the short term are heavily influenced by macro factors and changing consumer behaviour, especially SEA's Shopee arm. As long as revenues beat constantly, and the company is expanding, SEA still has the potential to reach profitable status. However, i still think SEA needs to find a way to cut down on it's spending and find more sustainable revenue streams that can bring about stronger profits.
$Sea Ltd(SE)$ despite all the negative press & reception due to the company making hard but necessary actions to recourse into profitability, the results have shown slightly that they are closing the gap on losses. a little too early as an investor to go bullish in an uncertain macroeconomic period, but it's looking better.
$Sea Ltd(SE)$i'm hoping the recent efforts by CEO and the company will save this stock.TBH garena needs to have a new mobile game. get with the times. main cash cows are losing steam.Shopee needs to stay competitive with lazada. streamline their internal org chart, make processes more efficient. invest in a better product (app backend)
$Sea Ltd(SE)$https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2022-09-15/sea-s-billionaire-ceo-to-forgo-salary-as-cost-cuts-spreadi dunno what does this say about SEA's outlook as investors but their recent headwinds (of layoffs, withdrawing from markets and recinding offers) and now this makes it worrying as an investor alr in thereds.GoPro had their CEO also stop taking salary last time to keep GoPro alive. they were close to bankruptcy. what do you all think?
