However, in the long term, the chances of it being a higher price with healthy returns year on year depends on the value of the company, the business metrics, the competitive positioning and the management amongst other things. Amazon is a long term buy - short term fluctuations are irrelevant to the long term value investor. If you want short term gains - go to the casino.
