$DJIA(.DJI)$Dry Powder. Own some.History repeats as FED attempts a Volker-style approach in rate hike(s) to show market participants 'Who's Boss'.Some might call out this BS: rather than call it transitory inflation in recent past, there had been ample opportunities to tame inflation spikes. Alas, hindsight is always 20/20 and now we have Mr. Market spooked; equities across all sectors are hit; resource counters ain't spared as well (something that I had been saying too in my comments to those pumped up by commodities euphoria that things rising too fast, too furious will see huge reversals too). Now that the boat is rocked, what is your next sensible position to t

Watch out, Chip Counters

Evidence is here; GM's earnings are meeting market demands as semi-conductor chip supplies are still available to meet manufactoring needs. This broadly contradicts the views of those who hang onto the narrative that chip shortages will create a premium price for Chip counters.Going forward, I'd look for counters that are able to take advantage of their postion in securing resources to meet on-going consumer and business demands - esp. those where consumers and businesses are willing to pay a premium for such counters' products and services. To end this article, I probably won't take a position in GM though - simply for the reason that its earnings trajectory to-date looks uneven.Happy trading and make the best of y

Copy Trading off a Cliff!!

Many have called for the idea on following what the "big boys" do, and not what intuition, news or earnings reports tells you. This is disproved, and recently, many cried foul when they copied-traded Munger (BABA) and Ackman (NTFLX), who netted huge losses of $50 Million and $400 Million respectively. In short, do not let others, even famed investors, lead you by the nose - and sometimes, off a cliff. [Facepalm] Moving forward, long or short, happy trading in these turbulent times. [Grin]

Never fight the FED.

When FED wants the market to correct, even the strongest of fundamentals, strongest growth and strongest of pricing power will not drive stock prices up. As what Jerome Powell said: “We have the tools to do it.” Never fight the FED, Paul Volker did it, so will Jerome Powell and the FED chairs -as their no. 1 priorty now is to stem uncontrollable inflation.
Never fight the FED.

Wilmar International. Watch on the sides.

Flushed down prices of Wilmar International caught my eye lately; after running a search online, turns out a corruption case has just unfolded with the company in Indonesia and involves minsterial level personnel there. Until things are clearer or officially sorted out, I wouldn't make an entry even as the price looks "attractive". Learning from past experience, reknown listed companies in SG caught up with such negative news are subject to brutal sell-offs as short sellers mount - and such instances can drag for a long time, keeping prices depressed by months or years. For those familiar with Yang Zi Jiang Shipbuilding's debacle, you probably know what I mean. Cut-loss or start developing a tonne of patience to hold a bag that might cost you opportunity costs elsewhere.Happy tra

Here is my take: don't bet along side this fund. On surface, they may be on the long position. But on the flip-side, they may already have a position betting against it. By the time this news is out, they could be selling to retail and shorting for profit as the sell-off begins. Clues can be found from history. Look at Quantumscape and other previous positions from this fund for a better perspective. [Facepalm]

As the saying goes, outperforming stockpickers usually goes against the herd. Contrarians usually outperform - just like how TSLA holders beat the naysayer shorts that got crushed in recent years. Keep a lookout for Coinbase and overal crypto markets - bottom is in on the short-term horizon. Key here is short-term, as hawkish fed-speak is still on the cards, but DXY is saying something else (overbought).

Why do analysts continue to ask these questions? Investment is a personal decision. Munger, Ackman and a few more have proven that following "gurus" blindly can lead to huge losses. Besides, Soros used to buy an EV batt. maker QuantumScape - but dumped it later. They have billions and easy credit lines to play the game (Win/Lose, it is pocket change to them), which majority doesn't.

Fossil Fuels WILL NEVER GO AWAY

I had interesting conversation with a fellow Tiger member, which revolves around alternative energy sources and the implications of fossil fuels. My take is plain and simple: the reliance on fossil fuels will never go away. At plain sight, one might think that fossil fuels are mainly used to power transportation and heat homes; but one has to also consider the many daily household products that are derivatives of fossil fuel - even toothpaste. Yes, toothpaste. Second of all, and an IMPORTANT ONE: trying to crush the reliance on fossil fuels is akeen to bankrupting the financial system: way too many sectors, industries, jobs and currencies are tied to what is known today as the contentious petro dollar

Been sharing my opinion, those who 'encourage' you to buy AMZN before June's split or buy Netflix or Disney at the current "low". News just in, they are shrinking their budgets - hence, the warning signs are pretty clear - full article below:https://news.sky.com/story/netflix-amazon-and-disney-subscriptions-cancelled-due-to-shrinking-budgets-research-finds-12593362

ALIBABA: Gaps to Fill

BABA's run up today is nothing short of a spectecular short-term bull-run. But on the flip-side of this, a 69% pump since its recent May low of $72 certainly makes the case for profit-taking to happen anytime. TA-wise, gaps are formed for a purpose, and I'd keep a lookout at $104. If that level is breached, the next gap goes is $93 and below. Happy trading or investing, but do look out for profits too.One more thing: 14-day RSI is screaming 'overbought' on all levels.

Three reasons to sell Netflix. No reason to buy.1. subscriptions are declining2. little done to control spending3. poor business model in driving content creationThe height of the pandemic was a one-off affair to showcase what Netflix is: a pamdemic stock. Unless something significant happens, I'm staying away.

Chip stocks and counters.Interestingly, when writers try to wriggle their way through science mumbo-jumbo (Moore's law) to entice buyers, IMO:Moore's law hasn't taken into account that risingcost and wage inflation will eat into chip makers' margins, and in line with uncontrollable inflation, there's gonna be greater checks-and-balances on spending, as well as greater demand for more human capital than faster computational power. In essence, there'll be less pressure on chip demand. [Sly]

If Apple goes down, everything will not be spared. Companies of such scale is a core of major economies, if one or more goes down, spending in the broader economies stop, less jobs are produced and less fuel consumption will take place - then you can kiss Aramco goodbye too. Everything tanks and the world will be at a standstill. [Spurting]

Improved earnings, but still on the negative side. Long way to go for PLTR, but looking at Apollo and Foundry, it's certainly got some good products offerings that its expanding sales team can proudly push into the commercial space. Best part isPLTR increased its net cash position with 2+ Billion warchest, maintains its debt-free status and ahealthy credit line ready.

Mercedes already sent their staff on holidays dueto chip shortages. The biggest country who supplies 1/3 of the global supply of palladium and other key resources is under sanctions. My take is there won't be any cheaper than one can imagine. FYI: Tesla isn't a carmaker - it's an AI company that produces autonomous EVs. [Grin]

Never bet against the wallstreetbets' community; they create the hype, the global hedge funds go in big to join in the fray, and short leverages with weak hands get burnt. FYI: Blackrock and Fidelity made off with huge gains from the AMC short squeeze saga - they have eyes combing reddit for mega-gains opportunities.
