HSBC Repurchases 368,400 Shares on 2 September; Cumulative Buy-Back Hits US$518.10 million

HSBC Holdings plc (HSBC) repurchased a total of 368,400 ordinary shares on 2 September 2026 as part of the buy-back programme launched on 5 August 2026. The latest purchases comprise 10,000 shares on UK venues and 358,400 shares on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

On UK venues, shares were acquired at prices ranging between £15.26 and £15.49, with a volume-weighted average price (VWAP) of £15.39. In Hong Kong, the bank paid between HK$160.20 and HK$162.40 per share, achieving a VWAP of HK$161.05.

Since the programme’s inception, HSBC has bought back 25.17 million shares for approximately US$518.10 million. Following the cancellation of the UK-venue shares purchased on 2 September, the company’s issued ordinary share capital and total voting rights stand at 17.17 billion shares. A further announcement will be released once the Hong Kong-purchased shares are cancelled.

All UK-venue repurchases were executed as “on-exchange” market purchases under London Stock Exchange rules and the UK Companies Act 2006, while Hong Kong transactions were treated as “on-market share buy-backs” under Hong Kong Stock Exchange regulations.
