Shenzhen Unveils Annual Smart Robot Competitions to Fuel Core Tech Advancements

Deep News09-03 22:01

Shenzhen's municipal authorities have rolled out a new initiative designed to accelerate breakthroughs in intelligent robotics through high-level competitive events.

The Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology and the Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of Science, Technology and Innovation recently issued the "Shenzhen Work Plan for Promoting High-Quality Development of the Intelligent Robot Industry (2026-2028)."

The plan emphasizes the continuous hosting of premium competition events, focusing on the coordinated growth of the entire robotics supply chain. Key priorities include technological innovation, supply-demand matching, international collaboration, and the commercialization of research outcomes.

Authorities will continue to organize the FAIR PLUS robotics industry gathering, with the ambition of establishing it as a flagship exhibition for the robotics sector in Shenzhen and the broader Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Additionally, major smart robot competitions will be staged annually, leveraging competitive formats to accelerate the iteration of critical robotic technologies. The city also plans to support ongoing programs like innovation boot camps, recruiting top-tier participants from leading universities worldwide to lower the barriers for young talent entering the field of intelligent robotics innovation.
