The breakwater project in the Hujiashan Operation Zone of Qingdao Port's Dongjiakou Port Area has successfully passed its final handover inspection, marking the successful completion of this provincial-level key project and vital infrastructure for the international shipping center, which spanned over three years.
The completion of this project will accelerate the formation of a new marine industry cluster in the cold chain logistics base, characterized by complete facilities, rational layout, and smooth transportation. It will help establish Dongjiakou Port Area as a comprehensive logistics hub and industrial highland radiating both domestically and internationally, further solidifying Qingdao Port's strategic position within the national logistics hub network.
As a critical component of the first-phase infrastructure supporting the national backbone cold chain logistics base, the Hujiashan Operation Zone breakwater project officially commenced construction on September 25, 2022. It serves as an essential prerequisite for subsequent wharf construction and the operational launch of the cold chain logistics base.
The project adopts an overall "twin breakwaters encircling" layout, consisting of eastern and western sections, with a total length of 2,601 meters. The eastern breakwater stretches 1,343 meters, while the western breakwater extends 1,258 meters. These two structures form a reliable safety barrier for the Hujiashan Operation Zone, effectively ensuring the safety of vessel berthing, cargo handling, and subsequent wharf construction activities.
During the construction period, transportation authorities from both Qingdao city and the West Coast New Area coordinated efficiently, innovating service management models. They established mechanisms such as "dual specialist" support, regular scheduling, problem response, and supervisory assistance, providing high-quality services throughout the entire project lifecycle.
In the final project stages, supervisory departments dispatched personnel to provide on-site guidance, assisting in the refinement of handover inspection documentation. Leveraging the intellectual support of industry experts, they meticulously oversaw the process to ensure the project successfully passed the inspection.
The municipal and district-level transportation departments stated they will continue to strengthen services and management for ongoing waterway transport projects. They remain committed to working on the front lines, optimizing approval processes, and facilitating projects to pass final completion inspections swiftly. This effort aims to lay a solid foundation for the safe and efficient operation of port infrastructure, aiding Qingdao Port in accelerating its development into a world-class marine port.
