In a recent episode of the program "Gao Can Interview," Gao Hongbing, Dean of the Digital Economy Research Institute at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, engaged in a dialogue with Zhu Xufeng, Dean of the School of Public Policy and Management at Tsinghua University. Zhu Xufeng stated that China and the United States are globally leading in the field of artificial intelligence, forming the first tier, while the European Union, Japan, and other countries constitute the second tier, albeit with a significant gap compared to the Sino-American duo. Gao Hongbing pointed out that the European Union emphasizes strengthening digital sovereignty through privacy rights, attempting to gain an advantage in AI development. Although other developing nations, such as Japan, South Korea, and Southeast Asian countries, are also actively advancing their artificial intelligence technologies, a notable disparity remains when compared to China and the United States.
