Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla Motors and founder of SpaceX, stated on social media on the 25th that if artificial intelligence is applied to economic activities, the U.S. economy could achieve "two to three-digit growth" in the near future.
Following the U.S. Commerce Department's report on the 23rd showing a 4.3% annualized quarter-on-quarter GDP growth for the third quarter, a user commented online, "4.3% growth is insane, can't see it." Musk responded directly to this post, asserting, "In the next 12 to 18 months, we could see double-digit growth, and with the application of AI, even triple-digit growth."
Since stepping down from his government role at the end of May, Musk has concentrated on developing the AI model "Grok" for his artificial intelligence company, xAI. He has frequently leveraged his own business resources to advance xAI; in July, his company SpaceX decided to invest $2 billion in xAI. Furthermore, in November, Tesla shareholders approved an unprecedented $1 trillion compensation package for Musk, the largest corporate pay deal in history, as investors endorsed his vision to transform the electric vehicle maker into an AI and robotics powerhouse.
However, Musk's bold "prediction" has sparked considerable skepticism. One user cautioned him directly, stating, "Elon, accurate forecasting is not your strong suit."
