China Eastern Airlines announced that on November 19, 2025, its 12th board meeting of the year reviewed and approved a proposal concerning the sale of the land and property of the Shanghai Airlines Hongqiao Base on Suining Road. The board unanimously agreed for subsidiary Shanghai Airlines to transfer its ownership of the Hongqiao base to China Cargo Airlines, with the final transfer price to be determined based on an assessed value filed with the relevant authorities.
On January 5, 2026, the company's wholly-owned subsidiary, Shanghai Airlines, entered into a real estate sales contract with China Cargo Airlines, finalizing the transfer of the Hongqiao base for a transaction price of approximately 138 million yuan. Following the completion of this asset transfer, the company anticipates recognizing an estimated gain of about 43.5 million yuan from the deal.
The proceeds generated from this transaction are intended to be allocated towards the company's general operational expenditures. This strategic move is expected to optimize the asset and liability structure of Shanghai Airlines, while also helping to recapture capital to support the further development of its core airline business.
