Shenzhen is intensifying its push to accelerate breakthroughs in core intelligent robotics technologies under a newly released sector development roadmap.
Authorities in the southern Chinese tech hub have issued the "Shenzhen Work Plan for High-Quality Development of the Intelligent Robotics Industry (2026-2028)," outlining a strategic focus on overcoming key technical hurdles.
A central pillar of the plan is advancing core technological innovation, with particular emphasis on developing autonomous ecosystem toolchains for embodied intelligence, improving embodied AI models, and achieving self-sufficiency in humanoid robot components.
Significant efforts will be directed toward mastering critical technologies and strengthening technical expertise across these fields, as well as achieving breakthroughs in embodied intelligence motion control and generation technologies, leveraging institutions such as Shenzhen's leading open-edge intelligence research institutes.
Additionally, the plan calls for establishing joint funds dedicated to robotics and artificial intelligence to bolster frontier fundamental research, thereby enhancing the city's capacity for original innovation in these sectors.
