Hundreds of academics and experts recently convened in Qingyang to bolster the city's digital economy with top-tier intellectual support. During the industrial ecosystem achievements release segment of the 2025 China Computing Valley Digital Industry Development Conference, Hu Weiwu, Chairman and General Manager of Loongson Technology Co., Ltd. and Chief Engineer of the Institute of Computing Technology at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, announced the "Qingyang Initiative: Uniting Expert Wisdom to Build a Digital Highland and Jointly Write a New Chapter for 'China Computing Valley · Smart Qingyang'." This initiative provides cutting-edge intellectual backing for Qingyang's digital economic development, ensuring the city remains at the forefront of technological evolution and industrial transformation.
As part of the national "East Data West Computing" project, Qingyang has innovatively launched an academician-expert engagement program, establishing a high-end think tank led by 114 top experts to drive high-quality growth in the digital economy and position the city as a model for the initiative.
The Initiative calls for more experts to join Qingyang's digital economy think tank and innovation platform, leveraging technological advancements to empower the city's computing capabilities and digital frontiers. It aims to help Qingyang become a benchmark among the "Eight National Hub Nodes" by fostering industrial clusters in artificial intelligence, quantum information, big data, low-altitude economy, brain-computer interfaces, and other major projects. The goal is to create an industrial ecosystem that integrates computing power support, technological breakthroughs, and application demonstrations, establishing Qingyang as a leading hub for intelligent computing.
Additionally, the Initiative promotes collaboration among government, industry, academia, research, and application sectors to accelerate the transformation of original research into practical solutions. It envisions Qingyang's data center cluster as a "testing ground" for cutting-edge technologies and an "incubator" for future industries.
To nurture talent, the Initiative emphasizes meeting the development needs of the digital economy by jointly building training bases and innovation platforms. It encourages deep participation in university-enterprise collaborations and joint academic programs to cultivate a new generation of versatile, high-caliber professionals capable of driving technological breakthroughs and industrial upgrades.
