U.S. stocks closed near the unchanged mark on Thursday (Apr. 18), as investors sifted through the latest corporate earnings, while economic data and comments from Federal Reserve officials suggested the central bank was unlikely to cut interest rates in the near future.

Regarding the options market, a total volume of 40,840,742 contracts was traded, down 11% from the previous trading day.

TSMC shares dropped nearly 5% on Thursday as investors’ worries about the chip maker’s cautious outlook for the industry eclipsed its upbeat first-quarter financial results.

There are 491.8K TSMC option contracts traded on Thursday, up 58% from the previous trading day. Call options account for 68% of overall option trades. Particularly high volume was seen for the $135 strike call option expiring April 19, with 25,104 contracts trading.

Micron Technology, the largest US maker of computer-memory chips, is poised to get $6.1 billion in grants from the Commerce Department to help pay for domestic factory projects, according to a report by Bloomberg. The award is slated to be revealed next week, according to people familiar with the matter. TSMC’s drop dragged Micron down 3.8% on Thursday.

There are 324K Micron option contracts traded on Thursday, up 39% from the previous trading day. Call options account for 65% of overall option trades. Particularly high volume was seen for the $120 strike call option expiring April 19, with 18,575 contracts trading.

Netflix on Thursday unexpectedly announced that it will stop reporting subscriber numbers each quarter, a decision seen as a sign that years of customer gains in the streaming wars are coming to an end.

Shares of the streaming video pioneer fell nearly 5% in extended trading after it reported a large batch of new customers in the first quarter but gave a revenue forecast that missed analyst targets.
