Shares of Chinese electric vehicle maker XPeng Inc. (XPEV) surged in pre-market trading on Wednesday, driven by the company's unveiling of groundbreaking AI-based innovations during its highly anticipated AI Day event.
The centerpiece of the event was the launch of the P7+ sedan, touted as the "world's first AI-defined" car. Powered by XPeng's AI Eagle-Eye Vision system and neural networks, the P7+ boasts advanced autonomous driving capabilities, positioning it as a direct competitor to Tesla's Full Self-Driving software. With a lower starting price than Tesla's offerings, the P7+ could give XPeng a significant edge in China's booming luxury EV market.
Beyond the P7+, XPeng unveiled a series of other pioneering technologies, including the Kunpeng Super Electric System, which enables ultra-fast charging and extended range, and the Turing AI Intelligent Driving System, which paves the way for Level 4 autonomous driving. The company also showcased its progress in robotaxis, flying cars, and AI robotics, underscoring its commitment to AI-driven mobility solutions.
