Recently, a 35-ton open-top container train loaded with soybeans departed from Handan International Inland Port, operated by Hebei Port Group, heading towards Tianjin Dabi Railway Freight Yard, marking the official opening of the port's dedicated railway line.
Handan International Inland Port is Hebei Port Group's first inland port and boasts the largest and most comprehensive socialized railway freight yard in the southern Hebei region. As a key logistics hub for land-sea intermodal transport, an international logistics base for China-Europe freight trains, and a regional logistics center, the port facilitates bidirectional connectivity between Huanghua Port and serves as a critical support for efficient regional logistics operations.
As a national demonstration project for shifting freight transport from road to rail, the Handan International Inland Port Railway Dedicated Line represents a total investment of approximately 760 million yuan. The 8.9-kilometer railway line includes four full-length arrival/departure tracks and five loading/unloading tracks, supported by a 200,000-square-meter freight yard and storage area, along with 100,000 square meters of warehouse space.
With an annual designed capacity of 5 million tons of cargo and 300,000 TEUs of container handling, the dedicated line directly connects to major railway arteries such as the Beijing-Guangzhou, Handan-Huanghua, Handan-Changzhi, and Handan-Jinan lines. It provides comprehensive services for bulk cargo, general cargo, automobile assembly, and full-train container transport, serving as a vital link between the national railway network and ports or industrial zones. By bridging the "last mile" of railway transport, it enables seamless cargo movement and significantly enhances overall logistics efficiency.
Hebei Port Group will leverage this milestone to further promote inland regional openness and better fulfill its role in the province's opening-up strategy. During the 15th Five-Year Plan period, the group aims to drive synchronized development across four key industries—ports, shipping, port-related services, and portside industries—while accelerating digital and green transformation alongside global expansion. These efforts will inject strong momentum into high-quality development and support the strategic shift from a port operator to a comprehensive marine economy service provider.
