Citi, Wells Fargo rose over 3% in morning trading after posting their financial results.
Wells Fargo said its revenue fell to $17.03 billion from $20.27 billion a year ago, while the consensus on Capital IQ was for $17.54 billion. Earnings shrank to $0.74 a share from $1.38 previously, while the Street was expecting $0.82.
Citi reported a profit of $4.55 billion, or $2.19 per share, compared with $6.19 billion, or $2.85 a share, a year earlier. That beat the $1.68 per share expected by analysts polled by FactSet.
